I am always surprised when people expect a gun to go 5k without cleaning. Extra wear and reliability risk for a PDW. I was looking at an MPX and people complaining about the pistion system fouling up.
I used to be a gun tuber on another name and one of the things I hated being a gun tuber is being asked to buy more expensive guns or gear and then telling you inexpensive stuff will get you killed. Wish you would not have to be asked to get another gun or compare to another gun unless they want to pay you.

This gun is a perfect example that yes,we can build here in USA and still affordable,and if by any chance something goes wrong with the weapon,I rather deal with a local company than an international corporation,furthermore,if anyone thinks that in order to properly protect your family and yourself you need to spend $$$$,you are wrong and you need real world training.

This pistol is extremely high value. I might buy a second one. No joke, if you're on the fence about this, get over the fence. Also, you have about 30 minutes to order direct from manufacturer (only option to buy new) when they are in stock, that's how fast they sell out.

It's ok. I would go with the FM9 if you have the money. Overall a more solid gun. The Extar is like 80% polymer

How many rounds will an ar9 type barrel take? Can the barrel be replaced and what about replacements.
Not sure about replacements, but most barrels now days can take around 30,000 rounds without failing. Most of us will never hit that round count though

Extar sells picatinny rails that go on the sides for $13 on their website.
It comes with a bottom rail so you can hang a light off the bottom and just grip the magwell
Best flashlight mount: Elzetta Alpha with High/Low tailcap and standard bezel, attached to the left side of the upper rail (touching both handguard and rail with bezel even with end of handguard) using 3M double sided tape (to attach and protect gun finish) in between the flashlight and gun surface, and 3 high-temp zip ties (whose dimensions match the slot width of the upper rail) www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01018DC96/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This is immovable, holds close to the gun, cheap, and easy to reach from an AFG (Stark SE-5 best AFG for this) I like the high/Low tailcap on the Elzetta because you never know how long you'll need to run it and 50 hours at 15 lumens is more than enough light for indoor use. You can also set it to high-beam temporarily with a tailcap press. The guys at my local gun shop called this attachment and combination "Ingenious"
@@TexZenMaster you could just slap an inforce light on the additional rails from extar. I bought mine with the additional rails & inforce fits perfect imo
I have a red dot on top, and a flashlight (green) light on the top rail, but its offset. Then a green laser underneath, forward, leaving a space to put the webbing of my hand behind the laser and hold the corner where the magwell meets the hand guard. Feels perfect. Yeah, I dressed it, so what. My gun, do what I want. And in my case I like those additions. They are zeroed in and pin point accurate from 50 feet, all day. Bore a hole in the target. I may not consider it MY go to home defense weapon, but I also wouldn't hesitate to use it for that. Or if my wife has to use it, having the light and laser will give her that advantage. Fun gun. Little recoil, fun to shoot, and I haven't had a problem yet. I only have 300 rounds into it, but 4 types of ammo and it just feels solid and dependable so far.
I’m loving my EP9 so far. I only have a few 100 rounds through it, but so far no issues. Have you ever ran any +P through it?
I have only run 115 grain hollow points and full metal jackets through it. So far no +p but I will soon and let you know.

Depends on your time zone. I’m CST so at 5:57pm to 6:02pm Monday, Wednesday or Friday I kept hitting refresh. Got it first shot.
Just got one a couple days ago on a Wednesday at 5pm Mountain time. Per Extar check M-W-F around 5pm (Mountain Time) on those days... Been trying for nearly a month and finally got it! Don't forget to upload your FFL license as well to expedite the process. Cheers!

Where do you apply the oil and lube any video? Can you do a cleaning video.
I just lube the bolt carrier group area. I will make a cleaning video in the future.
DrCap24 just break it down and clean it and oil it that’s how I did mine
The manual says no wet lube and if you simply *must* add some, add a very small amount of dry lube.
Everyone should be using Ballistol for everything, even their dining room table.

Red dot with laser on the bottom rail would be cool.
Finally got a 32 round mag for it, an angled forgrip, and a red dot. Next is a trigger upgrade
Anybody know some good iron sights that are not AR-15/ring and post style? I like this gun, but would like a more traditional notch and post style. I find them faster to aim and giving this is a 9mm with a short range, I think AR sights are a bit overkill as far as range goes

Hi' Riley, I have a newer one (End of December 18,' ) they changed the buffer Tube it don't have the dimples for the adjustable brace plus a different texture, also the tube hold down color is not split or have the clamping bolt. Mine came with a 17rnd MagPul magazine. I have only shot it 150rnd using the Magpul , ETS clear hicap , factory G17, and an old stamped 30 rnd metal mag. I had 4 ftf , one stove pipe, one failure to lock open in the 150rnds.My only real concern out of those problems is it ftf on the Fatory glock Mag! The charge handle follower did Not slide free the full length of stroke and makes it verv sticky charging (some plastic polishing helped but I did not want ruin the part; so a little polish is all it got. I can tell that that problem is a distortion in the molding. I still love it and will let you know when I get more rounds through it come warm weather. Thanks for your channel. James.

You didn’t mention what ammo you’re shooting. Many decades ago I learned the hard way to eliminate all the simplest possible problems first. Try a different, known-to-be-reliable factory ammo. 👍
Wally Cleaver I was shooting one last week the clip it came with was jamming if I put more than five rounds through it it also blew the top off of the clip after about 30 rounds just the very tip of the front of the clip you could see with a bullet pass through it have you had any similar issues and how was yours doing now any problems

I got my Extar 3 weeks ago. Everything was working fine until I opened it, removed the bolt to see through the barrel to zero my red dot, closed it without the bolt and when tried to open again, it just wouldn't. I tried to disengage it several times to no avail. Called Extar and they said to use a rod and push back the buffer to disengage it. Tried that and still can't remove the upper from the lower. Really frustrated by now. Any ideas from any of you that have found themselves in the same situation? Greatly appreciate any feedback that can help me resolve this problem.
There are a few video's about that. I just fixed my buddies that had that problem
The weight of a drum mag swinging back and forth in the mag well probably overstresses the polymer structure.

Can the safety be flipped to lefty, or can an ambi safety be installed?
Also I don't think you're supposed to lube these, per the manual.
I'm not sure about the safety. I don't think lubing the gun will hurt it. Its worked fine for me

I think you need to buy a buffer tube adapter so you can add a real buffer tube. I saw a site that sells it but I don’t remember the name.

Riley R the only way is for someone in law enforcement to buy one and later sell it. Once that happens that particular gun will be California approved for resale to anyone who can legally buy a handgun in California.
I will probably just leave the original brace on it for now.

Jeff, their stock is loaded every monday, wednesday, and friday at 5:00 Mountain time. Took me about 2 1/2 weeks trying to get one. Just be on the order page a minute early and keep refreshing until it turns 5:00, they seem to be gone in the first 3 minutes or so. Put about 500 rounds of 115, 124, and 147 (all different brands) through mine so far, no issues at all.

"Cheaply made?" It's $400, and made by a company that probably did it's own R&D and marketing. There is a distinction between cheap and economic. A BMW will cost a lot more than a Corolla over 100K miles, but BMW's are not cheaply made. I've heard that some high end AR9's actually are not reliable, and are not cheaply made. Just a thought.

The Stark SE-5 is far superior to the Magpul AFG for this gun; In my humble opinion.
Natchez has an angled foregrip & i'll get back with you soon as i have product code.
Fab defense makes an afg called 'PTK' it's an instinctive pointing foregrip & natchezss.com has it as item # C19NAPTKB sold @ $36.90 + tax.
I have the stark SE-5 & magpul AFG. Just giving you another option.
Dude you need to clean that gun thoroughly a hell of a lot more than every 5000 rounds. I clean mine after every trip to the range. If you want to be sure that it’s gonna fire when you need it to you need to clean it.
You have a good point, but with proper lubrication, any firearm should be able to work without a cleaning for thousands of rounds

Ok little real world info from a 0331. Machinegunner in the Marine Corps. You should clean your weapon after EVERY time you shoot. I never put 5k rounds though my 240 and didnt clean it, minus being in the box. And you want to put 5k though this polymer pistol and expect it to run flawlessly? #1 you sir don't know WTF your doing and #2 ALWAYS clean your weapon after firing it.

No thanks? I own a CMMG Banshee. I know it cost a lot more. If I was going to buy a cheap 9mm AR platform pistol. I would go with a $640 Foxtrot Mike. At least you get all metal construction and just as good or better reliability. With all mil spec AR features. Not this $200 less plastic gun. That is limited on upgrades. No matter what you do you are stuck with a plastic picatinny rail and plastic frame. Foxtrot Mike all day and any day over this Mattel toy plastic gun
To each their own. The Extar is not trying to be a battle rifle. It is a plinker and works excellent at that role. Sure, you could spend two or three times more and get a better build quality but that isn't the point of the Extar. Enjoy your CMMG and stop crapping on other people's stuff. Not everyone wants to spend or can spend $1500+ for a 9mm plinker.
