Krampusnacht DC has had participants with wooden masks from Austria in the past and there truly is no comparison in terms of quality or effect. However, this tutorial is geared towards individuals who want to participate in Krampusnacht DC but have limited resources and time.
Americans participating in krampuslaufs here mostly don’t have access to Austrian or German craftsman. We don’t have the same resources and know-how here it’s not an embedded part of our culture. Masks are about 700 to 1k US dollars for a mask-and that’s IF you can get one from an Austrian seller. Then there’s the goat hair costume-also really difficult to find or even make here. Our laufs are the equivalent of going to Epcot Center verses the original country. Those of us who love this tradition but don’t have the funds to go to Austria or Germany-this is our only option.
TRIOE We had a couple of traditional wooden masks at this year's Krampusnacht DC and we plan to have more next year. However, this is a cost effective and inventive approach.
How rude. He’s showing people how to do something in a cost effective way who might not otherwise be able to afford the real deal; AND it looks great. Get off of your high horse.
Awesome!
Great work!
Great way to recycle old masks. This amazing piece would certainly keep a child from being naughty. Wow❗️Thanks for the demo❣️👍
Great Idea but in Austria we have woodcarvers like Stefan Koidl why don´t you trie to make one out of wood next time ?

@@ChewieDaniels yeah sure. It's the destruction of an old art form. The masks are CARVED. And it's cultural appropriation. It's MY culture. Moron.
