This is TOO DANG INCREDIBLE!!! Before a few weeks ago, I had 'never' heard of KRAMPUS....Thanks 'Stiltbeast'....Awesome... Simply Awesome...Showing my office mates and telling them of some of the history around this creature....They too are shaking their heads in Amazement....And then there's YOU making the Krampus Garb....LOL I'm blown away, simply blown away!!!!!!!
@Zokoke07 I used to do legs by simply adding fur to thin sweat pants, you want a draw string waist and have the fur seam be inside of the leg like a jean seam. If you have a muscle suit underneath then just make sure that you account for the bulk when you are measuring it out.
@Joiseygal Harbor freight has some great airbrush sets. My favorite is a six airbrush set with a manifold for air distribution. its about $150 and can be cheaper if you catch it on sale. they also sell a decent 1/5 HP compressor. And no- as soon as the videos are finished they will be posted.
What little kid needs to be freaked out by Santa when you have something like the flying monkeys of Oz running around the party!!! Awesome costume. Can't wait for the next installment.
OMG I LOVE your videos. Thank you so much. I'm the costumer for the play Lion, Witch and WArdrobe and thanks to you I can make some VERY cool costumes.. HUGS
I agree with you on back stitching a few times. Helps to keep the stitch from ripping at the end. I hope you have a heavy duty needle on that machine. I break my needles too much on thicker fabric so I just leave the heavy duty needle on my machines all the time.
@schwartzwald01 It does not sew well, but can still be used as accents it could also be used as the hair on your mask ( I like the look of the long haired ones).
@abcnoyes2 LOL- I knew I was gonna get hammerd by someone who knows how to sew! Um...I didnt measure the width, I just cut the fur down the middle. I think it was 54" wide? I actually own a few flexible tapes- I just didnt have one handy- alls well that ends well right? Sleeve sewing tip - noted and awesome! thanks for teaching me! I will still leave my vent in place cause they are life savers. Thank you for your contributions!
Excellent choice in character! The first time I saw one of these creatures in Salzburg, Austria it scared the crap out of me. Those dudes are freaky imposing monsters!!! They carried switches of sticks and went around whacking people across the legs, left marks on my girlfriend! Saw another group in Linz, last Dec. They are usually followed by St Nicholas who chases them out of town. Maybe you should complete the theme and create a demented St. Nick character. That would mess with the kids!
Awww we have to wait until next Wednesday to see part 2? :( Great job so far! It is funny because that is exactly how I sew with no pattern. What is a cheap air brush set up that you would recommend?
I want to try this when fur fabric goes on sale in January. Have you ever worked with Horse hair? I have access to a number of horse tails and I wondered if it would be difficult to accent my Krampus costume with it ?
hi, i have question that someone here could maybe help with... im making this vest that has band patches all over it( if youve been to metal shows or are a metal head im talking about my battle jacket). i had just recently bought this same exact kind of fur to put on the back of the vest. on every patch i have, i just hand sewed it. would it be fine to hand sew the fur onto it, or should i use a sewing machine? please help!!!
WOW are you wearing your Pj's? You are killing a costume seamtress. What was your seam allowance (width)? I have never seen anybody measure circualr body parts with a ruler. They make this incredible tool that you can get at the Fabric store called a measuring tape, Its amazing. Sleeve sewing tip: if you turn the sleeve right side out and the body inside out the sleeve will line up by inserting it through the arm hole and you just sew from one side to the other around the hole/sleeve.

This is a great video, very clear and informative, with some nice humor. It gives me hope that I could actually learn to do this myself!

Hand sewing is fine, I wouldsew the edges then tack it once or twice in the middle to hold it down.
Awesome! Im happy to help.
