That wig started out almost hopeless and you turned it into such a cute style! Truly a transformation. I just ordered Noriko Reese in Large. If I like the color I picked, I'll try your techniques to "make her my own"!!
Most of my wigs are rooted, all of them are standard no-frills synthetic. Today I tried your tip on using light powdered eyeshadow to create the illusion of a part. It was amazing. What a priceless tip, and so easy! Thank you. 😃👍
Thank you for this video. I have lost so much hair due to stress and autoimmune disease. I see pictures of myself and I look horrible so I bought a wig, it is too much hair and looks awful. I don't dare buy a more expensive wig until I can learn what works for me. Your video helped me so much, thank you.
I'm so sorry for what you've been going through. I agree...learn to work with your wigs before you buy more expensive pieces. Thank you so much for watching!💕
Hi Frannie, great tips! Another nice little tool to have in the toolbox is a chalk pen, like teachers used in the past to hold the chalk when they wrote on the blackboard. I use one all the time to make my part stand out more. If you have a fair complexion the white chalk works well to look like scalp and it is so easy to use. I keep it right in my makeup bag. It stays a little better than powder too and works very well on basic cap wigs to get down in that permatease and make it took like there's a part there.
Excellent instructional video! I love how you explain and demonstrate each tip as you're doing it. I have always 'played' with my wigs, but video's like these are so helpful for those who may be afraid to try things.
Thanks Frannie, You made this wig look so cute. Such a drastic change! This opens up a lot more options for me. I tend to stay away from basic caps but now I will try one.
Frannie, I’m so happy that I came across your tutorial! I’ve been wearing wigs for about three years but I am always looking for helpful tips. I’m 77 years old and have very thin and fine hair. Wigs have been a blessing for me. I’ve subscribed to your channel and now I’m headed over to Facebook to join your group. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.
Once again, I am delighted by your content. Your site is really one-stop shopping for tips, product and support. I love it that you adopt tips that were gleaned from wig wearers all over the world. The scar tape and the four-finger “rule” are excellent tips that others who came before you have passed on to both newbies and long-haulers. There is so much more content out there than when I started on my journey 6 plus years ago. We are all sisters here and this type of info needs to be shared. “Make it your own”. is a great motto, btw. Don’t we all want to look and feel like our best selves in whatever we wear and make the most of what we have? Thanks, Frannie!
Thanks for this informing video. You rock Frannie. I just adore you. You have the sweetest personality. Love & abundant blessings to you in our new year.
Thank you Fran for this Tutorial! I recently purchased several wigs and have, (just today in fact) been trying for hours to get them to look natural. I am going to try these tips to see if they will feel more natural to me. You are appreciated.
These are great tips. I've been wearing wigs for 9 years and have gotten comfortable with thinning them out if I feel there is too much hair. It makes a difference in how a wig looks. But, I would caution any one who may want to try this to watch MANY TH-cam videos to do it correctly.
Hi Frankie, I’m a new subscriber to your channel. I just wanted to thank you for this video. I found all your tips helpful, especially the scar tape. I never knew this existed. So…THANK YOU!
Well Frannie, I learned something new from you today! I never thought of putting powder on the part of a basic cap wig! So, thank you so much for that tip!
Good job Frannie! I’ve noticed the scar tape trick is really catching on. Ckissrt4 looks great on you. I bought my first wig “Jamison” in this color and I never wore it. This inspires me to feature a blast from the past “Jamison” to see if I can make it work for me, now that I finally started to wear wigs. After years of trying.
Wow! That was really amazing how you transformed that wig and made it absolutely adorable on you! And yes I have so many shorter wigs I bought early in my wig journey that I actually was going to go through and throw away! Thank you for such an educational and inspirational video!
Oh please don’t throw wigs away, unless they are destroyed. Think about donating them to a cancer center for women that need a wig and can’t afford them.
Thank you Frankie for your invaluable tips! These were great! I’m about 6 months into my wig journey and I’m getting braver, wiser, more confident everyday because of your encouragement and wisdoms you share with us! Now I feel like I can wear my wigs with confidence and try to look and feel adorable again. ❤️🥰
Thank you so much for these tips. I've spent thousands on human hair toppers because I thought all synthetic ones look so fake but wow I think I'm going to start saving a lot of money ❤
Thank you so much! It's perfect timing for me as I've just ordered a few fairly inexpensive wigs (my own color) because of thinning hair and will certainly try your ideas.
Thank you I have a wig so similar though in a colour to match my own. I was about to box it and put it away as a lost cause coz it just looked fake! I thinned it out a little down lower part and flattened it with lots of brushing to make it look not so puffed up where the permatease was. The only thing I did a bit different to you was I sprinkled baby powder over it and fluffed it through and it dulled the overshiney look nicely. Thank you it’s one of my favourites now!
That's awesome! That's the beauty of learning to work with wigs. Once you learn to do it, you can wear almost any wig. Thank you so much for watching!💕
Frannie…hi.Happy New year to you and family. I love the noriko wig..Rene of Paris. Size petite. Basic cap. But I’ve got some questions. I think my head(from ear to ear) is very small. I’ll write you an email about it. And you told me about a heating tool…..not the super expensive one. There was another one. She’s synthetic. I’ve only worn around my home. Been one heck of a year, Frannie. And I’m still here. 🤪 You’re as pretty as ever…and as, usual, your videos are always helpful. Be on the lookout for my email. It’ll be like old times. Hugs to you… 🤗🤗💕💕💕
Looks fantastic on you. I have a question. I purchased a las Angeles by Bell tress. On a liquidation sell. An affiliate was clearing her 24’s out. Anyway I loved the way it laid and flirty waves. The wig is straight as a board. I washed her she is smooth but still straight. Should I use a wand , or a curling iron to try putting them in? Now I can’t wear her😢
I'm surprised that she straightened out. All BT wigs are heat friendly synthetic and should return to their style after washing. If you are sure that the wig is BT and is heat friendly, you can use a wand or curling iron to restore the curls. Make sure to follow the heat guidelines of the manufacturer..
Does the parting powder stay on well? any tips on a gal who would love to have bio hair end her wig tab to pull out since I like the tucked hair look? You a wonderful at creating wig videos! Great content. 🎉❤
Thank you, Karen. The powder stays in unless you fiddle with your hair. I keep the powder in my purse for touch ups, but I rarely need to use it. As far as tucking with no bio hair, you can tuck the fibers behind your ear and pull a few front ones out. I've done that when I cut my hair really short. Thanks so much for watching!💕
Wow! I learned so much. I’ve been wearing wigs daily for 11 years. My bio hair is very thin. My go to wig is RW Sparkle in SS 14/88. I shake it;, spray the front with water and use my fingers to separate the fibers and spike up the front bangs and top. Today I see that I can pull out some of my own hair and use the colored powder to cover my gray like you did. I also liked the tip on powder for a part. One problem I often get which is annoying and embarrassing is my support band fails to stay in place and my wig slips back. What can I do? BTW I have wigs in my closet that I haven’t worn, because I think they look wiggy. Now With these tips, I can give them a second chance. Thank you, Frankie
I'm so glad you found the video helpful! When you say 'support band', I imagine you're referring to your wig grip. A few questions: Does your wig grip have a silicon strip? Do you have a pronounced occipital bone, or is the back of your head flatter? A silicone strip can help the grip stay on better. Still if your occipital bone is not pronounced, you may have more of an issue. In that case, I'd recommend trying something like 'It Stays' (a non-toxic water soluble glue...it's easy to remove) at the hairline and nape. I've used that with no wig grip. If you sweat a lot or have oily skin, the It Stays may lose it's stickiness since it's water soluble. There are other glues or tapes that will adhere in more humid or oily conditions. I have a video about the wig grip I use: th-cam.com/video/Bc_LpTS1tU8/w-d-xo.html I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask.💕

Love your vids and your wisdom, but can I comment on your accent. I love the way you say awsew ( also) it cracks me up! Also you said it many times today!
Such a helpful video!! -Using light powder for a part, and pulling out old wigs and working with them, just two things I am taking from your video. Thank you Frannie! ❤
Thank you for this video. I have a box of wigs that need customization like you have done. As a 60+ woman who enjoys the versatility and affordability of today’s synthetic wigs I want to avoid the old-lady look of ill fitting wigs. One of the mayor problems is the fullness of wigs. We can no longer wear Farrah Fawcett fullness because we no longer have such a thick mane.
It's a Jon Renau Block Head. I have the Deluxe Clamp as well. Here are links: frannieshair.com/collections/accessories/products/canvas-block-head frannieshair.com/products/deluxe-wig-clamp Thank you for watching!💕
Since this is the first of your videos I’ve watched forgive me if you’ve covered this before but I have to issue this caution: even if you were born with raven black tresses if you are 60+ foot not wear black. It will make you look like a vampire. The honey/carmel brown of the wig in this video is a flattering color.
Great question! In the video I did with the Envy educators, they did work on a pixie. They used the curling iron and it gave it more of a spiky look… Not really curly.
Since the attachments are interchangeable it would be nice if Envy made a smaller one for shorter hair. I think it was mentioned in the other video; hope Envy listened. Really need a smaller attachment.
I’m going to pass on your wonderful wig tips & techniques. While I don’t wear wigs currently, should It ever become part of my life, I’ll follow your skillful pro directions. Love your look and voice…you’re a natural teacher. Thanks!
That can be an issue. Have you tried dry shampoo and cold soaks? This can lessen the shine, and over time, the shine will naturally lessen with wear. Thank you so much for watching!💕
Not at all. I took my time to explain during the video, but I literally have my wig on and done in minutes. If I use heat, it may take a few more minutes. Rarely does my wig take more than 5-7 minutes to get it the way I like it. And if it's one of my throw on and go wigs...then about 2 minutes...even if I add the part with powder. Thank you so much for watching!💕
My first wig was Esthetica. Immediate inclination was to trim and layer the bangs I still have NOT worn it out in public. I will not put anything on my head that looks FAKE.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made(Psalm 139:14). Our body is the temple of God. God does not want us to use wigs or attachments. (1 Corinthians 3: 16-17)God wants us to embrace and preserve our beautiful natural hair .
I don't have a tip but I have a question. How can I get the shine out of my synthetic wigs. That is what makes them look so unnatural. Using dry shampoo doesn't make a difference, yet that is what everyone recommends. I see yours is shiny but your natural hair isn't, just like all our natural hair. I hope you have a solution.
Some women also use cold soaks and powder. I think powder probably works the best, but you may need to wash your wig more often. Also, if you like less shine, you may like a heat friendly wig better.💕
I'm guessing that you'd have to be careful to put the wig back exactly and precisely the way it was at the end because otherwise aren't you going to lose the part you work so hard to make?
I will add that to my video list! In the meantime, if you need help finding bobs that work for you, I would highly recommend signing up for a free, one-on-one video consultation. There's no obligation to purchase. Here is a link if you are interested: frannieshair.com/pages/consultation
Wow Frannie, what a transformation, it looked like a cheap wig transformed to a great hairstyle that suits you and looks like real hair!!
Try watching wig videos by black women to best understand how to wear wigscsnd make them look realistic
Great tip! Thank you!
That wig started out almost hopeless and you turned it into such a cute style! Truly a transformation. I just ordered Noriko Reese in Large. If I like the color I picked, I'll try your techniques to "make her my own"!!
I can't wait to hear how you like Reese, Nancy! I love that style.💕
I love these videos explaining how to make wigs your own, fix face floppers and frizz…. It is so helpful!
Most of my wigs are rooted, all of them are standard no-frills synthetic. Today I tried your tip on using light powdered eyeshadow to create the illusion of a part. It was amazing. What a priceless tip, and so easy! Thank you. 😃👍

Thank you, Jean. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!💕
Wow, what a dramatic improvement. I especially liked it with the headband ♥
Stunning after the makeover. I love the wig and color of it. I have one in tht color
Holy cannoli, what a difference! And Frannie, I love your voice. It’s so calming!
I sometimes pull out hair at the bang area too! You are the first person I have seen talk about this!
That's awesome...I love hearing that other people try the tricks I try.😁
Hi Frannie, great tips! Another nice little tool to have in the toolbox is a chalk pen, like teachers used in the past to hold the chalk when they wrote on the blackboard. That’s an awesome tip! I am going to try that. Thank you for sharing!💕
Is this real chalk or a liquid marker? When I looked this up on Amazon, it brought up liquid "chalk" markers. Do you have a link? Great tip, BTW.
@ It’s real chalk. Let me see if I can find a link
Great video Frannie, that you so much for sharing this. I love the way it turned out. I'm going to try this one one of mine. Thank you!
Great tips! Especially the powder for the part!
I love your helpful tips! I’ve worn wigs for years and your video has encouraged me a lot!! Keep the tips coming!!!

Great tips Frannie…that was fun and soooooo helpful especially for wig newbies. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🧡
This was enlightening Frannie! I ordered two wigs from you today and didn’t think to combine them because I got so excited. Can’t wait to get them 😂😂
Thanks for this informing video. You rock Frannie. I just adore you. You have the sweetest personality.

Welcome, Cindy! I'm glad you found the tips helpful!💕
Just pulled out a few of my non monofilament wigs and tried the makeup line. What a transformation! Love this. Thank you so much!
Awesome! I’m so happy to hear that!😘
Well Frannie, I learned something new from you today! I never thought of putting powder on the part of a basic cap wig! So, thank you so much for that tip!

Oh please don’t throw wigs away, unless they are destroyed. Think about donating them to a cancer center for women that need a wig and can’t afford them.
It never occurred to me that I could do that! What a wonderful idea to donate them! Do you know of any specific organizations that would take them?
WOW what a transformation! Thank you, Frannie. For example, "Faking" the part with powder is simply brilliant!
I'm so glad you liked it!💕
Thank you Frankie for your invaluable tips! These were great! I’m about 6 months into my wig journey and I’m getting braver, wiser, more confident everyday because of your encouragement and wisdoms you share with us! Now I feel like I can wear my wigs with confidence and try to look and feel adorable again. ❤️🥰
That is so great to hear, Pam! This community is so supportive...I'm glad you're part of it!💕
Oops Frannie not Frankie! ☺️
Bravo…you did that. Looks absolutely beautiful on you. Looks so real. Kudos!!!👍🏽
Thank you, Tina!😘
Thanks Frannie. I learned a lot. Is there something to spray on the wig to make it less shiny?
Thank you so much for these tips. I've spent thousands on human hair toppers because I thought all synthetic ones look so fake but wow I think I'm going to start saving a lot of money ❤
That's great! There are so many great synthetic wigs. Many people prefer them.💕
Loved your video! We all have those wigs we never thought we could wear. Now I really want the Envy styler and get out my wigs! Thank you so much.
I am so glad you were inspired! 💕
what a great video! thanks for demonstrating what you suggest!
What a great transformation!
Thank you so much! It's perfect timing for me as I've just ordered a few fairly inexpensive wigs (my own color) because of thinning hair and will certainly try your ideas.
Great! Let me know how they work for you!💕
Amazing Frannie!! I’ve got to have more patience with my wigs.
I'm so glad you liked it!💕
What a difference! Great video; thank you!!
Happy New Year! This was very helpful. You look great in that beautiful CKISSRT4 color.
Happy New Year to you too! Thank you so much!💕
Thank you I have a wig so similar though in a colour to match my own.
Wow! Awesome tips. I have two to practice on! Thank you!💞
You’re welcome! Have fun practicing. 💕
Thank you so much for showing how to use the root color. I love your videos! Do you carry root powder on your site?
We don’t carry it… As of yet. Here is the one that I got from Amazon: amzn.to/4iXsiIc
@ thank you so much
Very helpful video, thank you so much Frannie 😊

I have a question. I purchased a las Angeles by Bell tress. On a liquidation sell. An affiliate was clearing her 24’s out. Anyway I loved the way it laid and flirty waves. @FranniesHair thanks
thanks Frannie. hppy Chanukah.
Thank you!😘
Great job! You can also spray your wig with dry shampoo (not too much) so that wig is not too shiney
I agree, dry shampoo is a great way to take down the shine! 💕
Very helpful!!!
I'm so glad you found it helpful!💕
If no scalp tape pull the gauze off a band Aid and use theband aid

A lot of women prefer lower density wigs for the reason you state. There are some really great low density wigs these days.😊
Fabulous ❤
Hi Frannie where brand is your wig stand? It seems pretty tall and I like the black head.
It's a Jon Renau Block Head. I have the Deluxe Clamp as well. Here are links:

The barrels on the 3 in 1 Styler look rather large.. how well would this work on say hair that is only about 2.5" to 3.5" long. Ie pixie wigs? V
Great question! In the video I did with the Envy educators, they did work on a pixie. They used the curling iron and it gave it more of a spiky look… Not really curly.
@ Maybe I need to think about this!
Since the attachments are interchangeable it would be nice if Envy made a smaller one for shorter hair. I think it was mentioned in the other video; hope Envy listened. Really need a smaller attachment.
The Beachwaver is great and less expensive.
I will have to try that out! Thank you, Susan!💕
@FranniesHair , you already have one....but, you could offer it as a suggestion. Contact the company, to see if they'd sponsor you. Couldn't hurt! :-)
I’m going to pass on your wonderful wig tips & techniques. While I don’t wear wigs currently, should It ever become part of my life, I’ll follow your skillful pro directions. Love your look and voice…you’re a natural teacher. Thanks!
Thank you so much! And thank you for watching!💕
Also- taming the shine also helps! Just use dry shampoo to take down some of that shine! Maybe you already said this!
Excellent tip! I think I forgot to say it.🤦♀️
You are gorgeous. Eager to see the new look on you.
I have an Envy Micky that's giving me fits. I'm going to pluck the part and hairline because it's too dense. Also going to thin a little.
Yes, that can work...just remember, a little at a time...you can't put the fibers back in.😊
I happened upon your wig video & its great. My big hangup with wigs is the shine! Too much shine looks like a cheap wig to me.
That can be an issue. Have you tried dry shampoo and cold soaks? This can lessen the shine, and over time, the shine will naturally lessen with wear. Thank you so much for watching!💕
One thing I would add is to use dry shampoo on the wig when it's new to take away some of the shine.
I meant to add that. Thank you for the reminder!💕
Thank you!!
You're welcome! And thank you for watching!💕
Thank you!👏👏🇿🇦
You're welcome! 💕
Is wearing a wig this way a long process? I’m thinking of doing this but I’m afraid it’ll take very long to do. My hair is thinning on top.
Thanks for responding to my question! I think this is doable 😊
What do you do if you haven't worn a part in 30 years?
Mine is barely three fingers , ( low forehead ) plus a deep widows peak.
how to collb, dear,we have many exquisite wigs
My first wig was Esthetica. Immediate inclination was to trim and layer the bangs
I still have NOT worn it out in public.
I will not put anything on my head that looks FAKE.
❤
The powder comes off easily. I just put it back on when I wear the wig again. It's so quick and easy to do. Thank you so much for watching!💕

The natural hairline is at a big widow’s peak. If above it, will never look right on me
Look like a Hat 😂🤣
Lol...I know...it definitely needed a little work!💕
To get the artificial looking shine out of a synthetic wig, spray a bit of dry shampoo in it and brush through.
Great advice!💕
