- Hi, this video explains Xbox One backwards Compatibility and answers common questions you may have. I show a Xbox game (Prince of Persia) working on the Xbox One.

Since this video, Microsoft has added 19 more original titles to the xbox backwards compatibility list. However, I don't think we'll be seeing anymore for some time, if ever. Microsoft are currently working on two consoles, and their time is (in all probability) not going to be spent on adding more original titles to the list. I have bought a 360 slim so I can play my original games on it. I just don't can't be bothered to wait any longer. But this video was awesome, thanks for sharing bro.

It's limited to select titles, just like playing Xbox 360 games on Xbox One. With the titles that work, if you have the disc, just insert the disc, and let the game download.

I would get an Xbox Series X you can. It plays more games, from original Xbox all the way to Xbox Series X. Many Xbox One games are still backwards compatible with Xbox Series X, and they often have upgrades available, especially for games labeled Smart Delivery.

once again and absolute Stellar video I think the only thing you have to mention as well is unfortunately I am an achievement hunter and unfortunately these games will not support achievements which really sucks because it would give me more incentive to go back but I still will get some old games of course they're doing an awesome job and they're giving you a lot of return back for your money on investment I don't have a lot of time to play but email me or let me know maybe I can add you and seriously if I had more time I would do almost the exact same style of detail and experiments and coverage that you do I would do the exact same so I find it very refreshing to have someone think along the same lines as me one day will collaborate whenever I can get time to do things like this I've only done about 2 they were very extensive but really rewarding just to be able to share knowledge so thank you for making this thank you for your time as usual I know I've said this before but when I'm blown away I got to tell you over and over again just like learning to watch videos on the Nintendo switch mind blowing video very good stuff none of the videos you made have ever been boring them always had an amazing amount of knowledge for people who just want to experiment or think outside the box so thank you again and please email me even though I don't play a lot a lot I will add you to Nintendo switch or the Xbox account thanks again mate

They made it so convoluted.
I agree. Buy a game on an earlier console, then later they say, "Hey we have BC now for your old games!" Then you find out they only use the game as a "key" to allow access to a downloaded version that runs on an emulator in the newer console. Probably tweak the downloaded copy to run better on the emulator, (not bad I guess), but then, they can't support ALL the old games, only the most popular titles.
AND you have to use your bandwidth and time to download. I know in big cities people have high speed internet everywhere and multiple provider choices, but some people are in rural areas & not only have only one provider, but many times have data caps. The downloads kill your allotment of data for the month. Technology is great, but sometimes it makes one long for the days of a game just working when you pop it in without having to wait for updates, etc.
My KOTOR wouldn't work on my original Xbox but it works great on my XB One. So happy they added it. I hope they add KOTOR 2.

Hi, I've checked the list of compatible original Xbox games from the Microsoft Xbox page and I've got two games that are not on the list.
What would happen if I just put the games in my Xbox one s console even though they are not on the compatibility list.
Can the Xbox one consoles play any original Xbox game, or is it only those that are on the list?
The games I've got are lord of the rings: the third age & prisoner of war.

Awesome the reason I bought the Xbox one x for third party and backwards compatibility. I kept the PS4 mostly for exclusives.

i put black ops 2 in my xbox one and it showed up fine for the first few times it downloaded the game and its updates just fine but now it just asks me if i own this game or app even when the game is in the console

Yes it also works with 360 games (it works the same way actually.)
Is there someone who can tell me whether the system runs the original disks of a software update designed for the original code on xbox original or does it just tell the system to download of the Xbox store( for example) San andreas, the 360 version is just a different port of the mobile version which is riddled with glitches and nonsense, so when I put in the original xbox disk does it just download the 360/ mobile version off the store?

One thing that drives me insane is how it has to download the game. There's people workout internet access, we pay 60 USD for a disc therefore it should work right out of the case without having to download the game, really annoying
I have slow internet so downloading stuff is a huge problem. Not only that it takes up too much hard drive space compared to having the game on the disc
StackableGold Took me a week to download Halo Master Chief Collection. This is not a joke. I hate how modern games work. Sure it’s cool that you can get any game online without leaving your house, IF you have good internet. If you’re like me and the best internet you can get is still painfully slow to download this sucks because you gotta download your discs too and it’s stupid. Ahh the good memories of buys games and popping them in and playing them, now a lot of people buy a game, pop it in, wait a day or even a few and then finally get to play really sucks :/

You're totally right! I remember the first time I experienced that bullshit (on a PC) where I bought a boxed copy of a game and had to download the entire damned thing before I could play. My internet connection was through Verizon with a 3G connection! It was Valve's "The Orange Box". If I remember right, it required and automatically installed the (at that time) bloated extra Steam interface. I didn't want it. I only bought the compilation really to play TF2 after being a huge TFC fan for years. Took FOREVER on my connection. Took SO long I opted not to install anything BUT TF2, although there was Half-Life 2, Portal, and some expansions and stuff on there.
Then later all the new consoles started doing the same crap. It pretty much makes the physical media worthless when you have to download the game. If it's new, you might not have a TON of updates, but the older the title, the more updates you have to download when you install it. People with fat pipes won't care about what we're talking about, because they've never dealt with the issues of slower internet or data caps. Nothing worse than having friends or family over, turning on your XBox One, then seeing the damned update needed screen. And you can NEVER properly estimate how long the update will take, because the stupid onscreen progress meter is horseshit.
Oh, and some of you have probably gotten to 100% just to have the console tell you there was some kind of problem with the update. It then just presents you with a "RETRY" prompt. Hell yeah! Let's do just fucking that! Let's just try this again while people are waiting around another couple of hours!
If my Atari did that shit when I was young, I'd have taken the bastard out in the yard and used it for a BMX ramp! Then, my friends and I could all stand around a huge barrel with the casing on fire on the end of a big stick while we all laughed at the zany sounds the melting plastic made as it whizzed into the can!

I have about 80 xbox original games .... so nice to see that some of these can be added to my collection ... however, would have loved to have ditched the disc ! had planned selling my xbox original collection .

Buy digital version if you want to ditch the disc.
They won't allow you to do that. If they are offering digital licenses of certain OG titles, you have to purchase them, and then you can get rid of your OG game discs.

My xbox one s controller just keeps blinking and wont connect to my system anymore but when i first got my xbox it worked just fine so i looked up some stuff and it shows that i need to update it so i plugged it in but no update pops up if you could maybe give me some advise that would be great..
