2:39 The tighter turns are primarily affected by Handling, but under certain conditions, Traction (on slick courses like Koopa City, New York Minute, and Vancouver Velocity, or on dirt courses like Riverside Park and Sunset Wilds) and even Acceleration (when drifting, with Acceleration seemingly mattering more than Handling) can also play a part. Comparing your "main" build to the build you used at Sweet Sweet Canyon, here are the differences in the stats I mentioned. Handling: this video is +1 on Ground, +0.75 in Water, +1.25 in Air, and +0.5 on Anti-Gravity Traction: this video is +0.25 Acceleration: this video is +1.75 Since the build in this video has the advantage on all of the affected stats, some to a larger degree than others, of course you're going to notice taking tighter turns is easier. 3:43 As far as inward goes, you *are* playing meta. Well... aside from sticking with Link as your driver, that is. #BlameLink 5:31 The one time where hitting or not hitting could have actually made the difference, Link on the Yoshi Bike came up clutch. #PraiseLink 👏 6:37 Ah, the growing pains of getting accustomed to a new build. Poor Pokey, though... 7:55 Looks like only the Isabelle is catching up. 👀 8:41 I don't get the point. SlowCombo is already at max VR (and even if that wasn't the case, I doubt there's a "hit quota" where more VR is gained by hitting more players with more items). These races aren't team-based like some competitive events. There's literally nothing to gain by this Horn at the finish line. 9:05 Remember the one race in this series that I skipped? Well... if *that* course had been any good, it would have been *this* course, but with Ribbon Road music. 9:34 More commentary in this voice would be highly entertaining in short bursts. 😆 9:51 There's a shortcut near the beginning of each lap where you could use that 🍄 to speed through a Piranha Plant cardboard cutout. You actually take the cut on the final lap, but a player ahead of you had already broken the cardboard, which might have been how you saw the cut so easily. 10:05 (in Cartridge Bot voice) WHAT?! 11:54 (back to normal voice) Earlier today, I actually finalized my ranking of all 96 courses, and SNES Rainbow Road comes in at #63. I know that placement doesn't *look* all that impressive, but I genuinely enjoy Excitebike Arena and that's at *#68* , so I think you can figure out whether or not I like SNES Rainbow Road. Figures your "least favorite Rainbow Road" comes in at #11 on my list of the 96 courses, though. 😆 12:46 Even when you see it coming, you still can't avoid the *M O R T I S* . 💥🪦 13:41 That's *ANOTHER* nasty Bob-Omb. *M O R T I S* again. 💥🪦 13:54 See sixth timestamp, only change "this Horn" to "backspamming this green shell" to make the commentary fit here. 15:04 (in Tour Guide voice) If you look over to your right, you can see an adorable Wiggler sleeping in its natural habitat. 15:34 (back to normal voice) As bad as a third *M O R T I S* moment would have been, the bigger offense is the attempt to disturb the Wiggler's slumber. That Bob-Omb is close enough to the cave where the echo could easily disturb a less-sound sleeper. Good thing the Wiggler can sleep through anything for the first minute and 27 seconds of any race here. 💛 16:16 *BONK!* 16:18 (in Tour Guide voice) We are driving past a happy Wiggler who has just awakened from its slumber. Who wants to tell her that Yoshi Bike Rollers is actually meta because it’s the same as Teddybuggy except inside drift. You only lose certain tech but high level players have managed with Yoshi Bike. The only not Meta part is Link and that’s not far off at all
@@PurplePh0enix As long as you stick with human Link and don't switch over to dinosaur Link (green Yoshi) or giant mouth Link (green Birdo), you're still not playing meta. 😆

Randomly saw this on my homepage. You go girlie, I wish you all the success! Greetings from Spain❤🩹
Excellent video! Day 17 is probably now my favorite of your "grinding for 10K VR" series so far! Yoshi Bike and roller wheels is the one meta that has never changed for inside drift players even after the Wave 4 patch! You absolutely demolished everyone on Yoshi Island, that was a great race, your green shell snipe on the red shell before the last set of item boxes was insane, and you finished that race clean hitting the flying box for the red bridge. I run into players like SlowCombo on a regular basis. Yeah item management can get you super far in this game especially once it becomes 2nd nature. Knowing the optimal lines or shortcuts are one thing but once you understand how the items work, it gets you much further. Being in 2nd place trailing right behind 1st place is unfortunate because 1st place is taking all the coins from you and they get to 10 coins really fast, while 2nd place is stuck at little to none coins. Also, congratulations on completing the star challenge on MKWii cups! Keep up the great work with your Mario Kart content creation journey! It keeps getting more & more exciting!
I'm glad you enjoyed this one! I really had a lot of fun playing with the new combo -- I'll probably stick with it for a good while! The MKWii star rank series was so much fun -- I'm kind of sad it's over ngl lol. Thank you so much! I have a lot of plans for the future in regards to the Mario Kart content and I can't wait to get to do them all!
I've heard standard kart actually isn't that bad in the game. Is it Meta? No. But it is still a viable kart to use. The important thing is to play with what you like to play with!
Excellent VR gains there. Lap one priority is almost always getting coins because your speed boost is worth the time. Let's talk about SNES Rainbow Road (it's the track I personally test all my combos with because it is a pretty technical track) Your troll opponent threw the bomb ahead of you because he saw you trailing a shell. He knew the bomb would take you out along with any means of retaliation (bombs will always destroy trailing/rotating items.) If you simply held that red shell in your hand, you could have thrown it immediately after you recovered and slowed him down. The other bomb he used at the curve was a choke point. You would not have been able to avoid it, it was perfectly placed.
Very interesting analysis of the SNES Rainbow Road race! Definitely some things to keep in mind for next time -- like maybe I shouldn't trail my shells behind me due to people potentially destroying them with bombs lol
@@PurplePh0enix Bagging also allows you to get a better view of the sleeping Wiggler while taking the outside drift for up to 5 coins (if you get the 2 coins on the outside drift before the straightaway and the 3 coins right by the sleeping Wiggler). 💤❤
@@PurplePh0enix If you stick with Link and decide to use something other than inward, I suggest going full goofball and use the build you mentioned at Hyrule Circuit during your time trial series. You know, the build I ended up using for my Kalimari Desert time trial. Link, Mr. Scooty, Hot Monster tires, Wario Wing glider. 👀🤣

To be a huge 🤓; Yoshi Bike has shared stats with Teddy Buggy & Cat Cruiser, which have the best vehicle stats in a competitive context due to their high mini-turbo whilst still having decent speed and acceleration, aka high for the best stat and decent for the second and third bests. However, Yoshi Bike is never considered in those because of the inside drift issue which prevents a lot of higher level tech but genuinely if you prefer it then no one else should tell you otherwise 🫡
