This was one of the first helpful tutorials when I first began mandolin a couple years ago. Then by chance I heard an old Skynyrd tune called Mississippi Kid and that is the same progression which is the foundation of the song. Riff E riff A riff B and then I discovered that genius keyboard stud Al Kooper, who produced a couple skynyrd records, played this mandolin part on the record. Really fun and satisfying lick and great practice for me still. I can see Al dicking around with this working on his chops with some random mando in the studio when Ronny walks by and says keep playing that man what is that …….the rest is history
