I kinda feel like that door shouldn't have a knob and traditional backset. If something presses hard enough against that door from the outside, that backset can twist a little bit causing malfunction as well as all the weight possibly pressing those bolt locks to catch the door. With enough weight you may not be able to operate those bolt latches. Simple solution could be to store a hammer and pipe wrench in the unit. Nice though. I like those things.
Seems as if the smallest one would be almost impossible to get in with 3 adults just because the door opens inward. Maybe it’s longer inside so you move around🤷♂️
Then you're not paying attention to the science. When these things are designed to FEMA standards they can actually be quite resilient and offer more protection to those who don't have a below ground option. These things can save lives. Don't start shitting on them for no reason.
The small spotted welds in the inside is to keep the four walls together when they full weld the edges from the outside. If you look closer at the outside wall edge weld it is one straight line alone the each edges.

B.S I'm from Mississippi my neighbors had a storm shelter sum similar to that bolted in concrete F4 TOOK IT OUT THE HOUSE AND BASEMENT OUT THE CONCRETE BOLTED A FEET IN THE GROUND OR SO FOUND IT 1/2 miles in a neighbor field luckily wasn't nobody home when the Tonado came threw in the ground shelters is what u need....
Door should open out not in. Although the 3 dead bolts would lower significantly the chance of the door blowing inward. Most Florida homes not shelters though. The homes are built standard with the door opening in the outward position. Great vid. Will look deeper. Seriously thinking of making a purchase.
they said in the video FEMA requires the door to be opened from inside. I would want that feature, as debris outside the shelter would block the door from opening outwards. an inward swing door is a must have.
Nothing cheep about these things expect the cost to save lives. Let me know if you would like to meet in person or if we can answer questions over the phone. Be sure, Be safe!
@@Turnermc i could pierce it with a axe. What gauge steel is that? The mounting holes are too close to the edge so i see those shearing, and no sealed floor? Idk man. Pretty cheap fab work. What you charge for this $1500 box?

Solid video, good job
Swing in? So it can blow in?
FEMA Requires door to swing in so that debris will not block the door from opening. Simple, right?
Wouldn’t catch me in this in a tornado no sir

If a tornado was about to hit and you had access to this unit, you’d pass? Ok😂
How much a shelter ?
The metal used for the walls looks thin and the welds look too far apart.
I was thinking something similar . I imagined me welding more welds. Scrolled down and seen your comment. lol

Agree on the Door as How they have it shown in Video and They Made a Solid Video with a Gorgeous Looking lady 😊
How much
It's not easy to tell, but the handle on the disabled accessible shelter seems a bit too high.
And for that matter, all the inside bolts should be accessible from a sitting position too.
It is actually an inch lower than required.
I do not believe this would hold up in an F-4 tornado. Very thin walls

Looks like a walk in gun safe to me...

The wind has to be able to get under the above ground storm shelter to life it up. The newer models had a lot more huge bolt down.

@@King_TuTT agreed!
I’ve owned 3 homes in Florida. Last one built in 2018…. All the Exterior doors Open In.
Door opening out allows debris to trap you in.
@@maddeusdoggeus1 not mine. I live in Florida. All exterior doors minus sliding doors obviously open outward.
This thing is cheap.
