    Thanks for this info. I needed to see the detail. I’m shopping and comparing, now. This one looks like the best constructed shelter I’ve seen. I appreciate it so much!

    very informative and helpful in understanding strengths of this particular shelter. Living in Albany, Ga and having two major tornadoes hit here I have decided to pursue this as the "shelter for our family" based on your review. Thank you.

      I don't live too far from Albany myself and our weather is crazy now and just had more tornadoes last week. Did you ever pursue this shelter? I've done a lot of research for 2 years and this one from what I cant tell is hands down the best! Just curious if you got one. Thanks

    Well made! Valley is in the 1% without doubt for build quality..........anchor is excellent also with over kill door locks!

    Doc glad you asked that question. I didn't think about somone or thing preventing exiting of the shelter. One thing I didn't mention is the bolts for the handle are on the inside of the shelter. Now I will add a socket wrench to the shelter and that should do it!
    It just depends on where your located a 4x6 shelter is $5,000 - $6,500 just depending on where your located. www.valleystormshelters.com I believe is there website.

    Thanks for the review.
    I am in Tennessee, 18 miles from the F4 last week.
    The Valley looks like my 1st choice, especially after your video!
    So, why would they put a deadbeat lock on a storm shelter door?
    Tornado is approaching...
    Where is the key!
    From the inside, what is the point? The 3 lock bars will keep anyone out.
    I guess if you want to use it as a safe for valuables.
    Also, for an easier to watch video, keep the camera horizontal and only tilt up and down, and pan left and right. Never rotate the camera.

    • @tlbfarm4473
      @tlbfarm4473 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The deadbolt is for valuables protection. It's not supposed to be used when people are inside during a storm.

    Hopefully the tornado doesn’t rip that cord out of your shelter if it hits you directly you should go buy some steel conduit pipe and screw them into the pad and into ur shelter , I would have a little generator too just in case

    Great video ! Upgrade your shelter with some air filters by the grill opening to keep the dust out (or Fallout...). For a fan try a 12 VDC auto radiator fan with a 12 VDC battery with a battery charger (auto or Deep Cycle Battery). Have a small sledge hammer to open the locking bolts on the door. (In case the door warps). Maybe an ethernet connection for weather feeds and/or video cameras ! And it is bolted to the concrete floor ! Thank you for the video ! tjl

    Is the little plug you show on the back wall at 4:05.
    Can the plug be removed and an electrical cord (cord end removed)strung through the plug hole and reattach the cord end inside or mount an electric box and outlet inside ?

  • @fuzzySuzie
    @fuzzySuzie 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice review. Good job. FWIW, the plug in the back is to run an extension cord into the shelter. You don't have to run it under the door. 😸
    Majority of gun safes have this feature so one can run an electric dehumidifier.

    Something that you should know is that no lock that exists is pick proof or drill proof. A medico is extremely pick resistant, but is not pick proof. It is also very well equipped to resist drilling, but is not completely drill proof yet. No lock has yet to be engineered to be pick proof or drill proof yet, but only with certain locks, extremely pick resistant and drill resistant.

    Wow. Being up in Canada we don’t need stuff like that. I think I’m happier to worry about winter and not having cars thrown at me. Pretty cool safe room I’d use it for a gun safe up here. Dang the wife would never notice new rifles if they were in a room vault lol.

      99% of the time you spend in the shelter, you will have AC power available. If you have spent any time in a shelter in the southern USA, you will welcome any fan cooling. I actually have an air conditioner installed in mine and have pre-chilled the shelter several times already before the storms has arrived. I also have a power pack inside the shelter that can power USB, 12 Volt and AC fans during a power failure. I have all 3 available.

    • @tmorelli1982

    • @Carolinagirl1028
      @Carolinagirl1028 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Sleroy61Can I ask what power pack you have inside to power everything in case of power loss? My mother has a medical condition where she overheats quickly and is a a high risk of heatstroke in even high 80 degree temps so i want to put ac in any shelter we get but power failure is a concern of mine.

    • @Sleroy61
      @Sleroy61 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Carolinagirl1028 I have some 300 W-hr battery packs. They can power several USB 5 watt fans for a long time. You can’t get heat stroke in 80 F air if you have air circulation. You won’t be in a shelter for more than an hour at a time. It helps to use the AC power before the storm to keep the temperature as low as possible. I would worry more about how to remain cool in the house without power after the storm. You may need a portable AC and generator. I have Two each. AC is very power hungry but don’t cool the whole house. A small room and lots of lower power fans.

    I liked the demonstration video that The Valley did on their shelter, it was very impressive until it did the 100 mph, 2×4 demonstration. It's not a true test, if you think about the fact that this is only equal to about a F-1( maybe 2) a F-5 is 250-320 mph winds. All these shelter companies & FEMA only guarantee to 250 mph, I think Moore, Ok was over 320 mph! I think ALL these companies plus, FEMA, & Texas Tech ( usually do the testing, should have to do testing of 350 mph, in order to really know they can survive even the most Powerful Tornadoes! If you look at the Valley video demo, the 100 mph 2×4 did major damage, think if that wind had been 3 × that amount, I think the 2×4 wouldve made inside the shelter. It's scary!

    • @DacAL_8
      @DacAL_8 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the peak MPH derived from the upper atmosphere speed not the actual ground MPH that hits you. Remember it’s not the wind that kills you but the material being tossed around (with mass = smaller faster MPH / larger = slower MPH ) So a 2x4 wood (w/ mass) will create at least 100 mph projectile speed when a 250 mph max picks it up… So if it’s a car , it’s going to be much slower…. Etc….

    Those shelves are dangerous. When debris hit the exterior of the the shelter, those will turn into dangerous projectiles causing serious injury to occupants within the shelter.
