    I have learned to preheat the water in the microwave before putting my 6 cupper on my gas stove. I'm able to use a lower heat setting, and all is done in around 4 minutes. The result is a slow steady flow (no spattering) and a nice layer of crema like foam on top. I learned about these things30+ years ago during my time working in Sicily. They were present in most kitchens. The Bialetti Moka Express is the best.

    • @sO_RoNerY
      @sO_RoNerY 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Why does the foam important? It doesn't make it taste any better nor make it look like you just got back from the coffee shop with an espresso.
      I doubt you learned to preheat the water thirty years ago. I bet you learned it here on TH-cam.

      @Bohdan M exactly. I did the pre heat method here on TH-cam and it tasted bitter. I used cold water like I have been, set our stove (we use electric) on two or three dial and it came out less bitter. Might need to use more water. But at the time I was using espresso dark roast ground. I learned if you're using dark roast to use less water so it doesn't take long to boil and brew the coffee. Light and Medium you need more water so the water can extract more of the oils because they're light or medium roast.

    • @sO_RoNerY
      @sO_RoNerY 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Bohdan M plus i doubt they had kennels back in the day. The bottom boiler is basically a kennel. It's easier too. Cold water, screw on. No need to use a towel or oven mitts.

      @Bohdan M weird. I’ve personally found the exact opposite!

    Actually you can adjust the strength of your coffee this way:
    Higher temperature on the stove --> quicker extraction process --> less strong coffee
    lower temperature on the stove --> slower extraction process --> stronger coffee

      Hi bud. Does this mokapot make good espresso? I mean, if compared to hundred dollars espresso machine. Thanks, regards.

    • @hygog
      @hygog 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      dicky wijaya they use the same principle but in different strength. moka pot’s steaming only in 2-3 bar, maximum. Espresso machine produce steaming in at least 9 bar.
      the difference in temperature, speed, hence the strength of coffee extraction.
      it is way stronger than ordinary drew machine, but weaker than espresso. someway in between

    • @1983Jacko
      @1983Jacko 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dickywijaya9614 you will not get much crema from the moka pot. It's also arguable that the coffee is being extracted at 9 bar pressure as it is in an espresso machine.

    Thanks for this! My parents used to have one back in the 80s, but they didn't have the rubber ring, or something else was missing. As a child, I always wanted to use the thing, but my mum kept saying it was soooo much work and very difficult. I just believed her, but this seems simple enough.I like that it's not a big machine on your counter.
    Looking back, my mum did this very often. This is also why we never could spray fake snow on the windows, it was sooooo difficult to get it off! Yeah, right. I'm not a kid anymore, I think at 35 years old it's time to make my own decisions, lol!

      That's why I looked into one of these cause I thought this day and age everything was done by machine, and didn't really want another contraption on the counter; apart from hubby thinking that now that I work with a chef, that I'm going to be going crazy and buy all this stuff and not use half of it, of which I'm not

    mine arrived yesterday and i have to say it really makes a tasty cup of coffee :D i bought the six cup version wich is good for 2 cups of coffee ( european standard). Im not a expert in making coffee at all, i just used to enjoy my senseo but now that i have the bialetti i think my senseo had his best time. The coffee is just really tasty. I bought 60% arabica and 40% robusta beans ( was the cheapest option, i did not want to buy super expensive coffee on my first try) with it so when it arrived i could start immidiatly so the first thing i did was fill it with water let it boil trowed it away then i grind some beans in my blender and filled it with coffee, i did not fill it completly because the first one you have to throw away but i took a sip anyway and it tasted good. But i throwed it away and made a new one and i did not fill it completly full with coffee because when i took a sip of the first one it just tasted good. So i went on with it and sipped my first cup of coffee from a bialetti and the taste is just great , and it was my first try ever. This morning same story , just a great tasting cup of coffee to start the day with. Excuse my bad english, just wanted to help some poeple out who think about buying one.

      Thanks for watching. I also have the 4 cup model and I also have a senseo. For the senseo, I´ve used pads from the Netherland, which tastes pretty good. I still use the senseo for a quick & dirty coffee. But if I want the real deal, I use the Bialetti.
      BTW, I don´t like robusta so much, tastes kind of bitter, depends of personal preferences ;-)
      You´re from Europe? Where do you come from?

      gadjector hey , thank you 2 for sharing this video with us ! Im from holland, jij ook neem ik aan vandaar de nederlandse pads : ) senseo is echt gemanipuleerde zooi maar wel makkelijk en ook best smakelijk als je niet echt een specialist bent op het gebied van koffie is het prima te drinken. Ik had me zak bonen gekocht bij kookwinkel.nl Oldenhof koffie bonen Silver 1kg (eigenmerk) Het was ook meer een test, ik dacht als de bialetti goed bevalt dan ga ik daarna wel over op de betere kwaliteit bonen. Maar het is echt een heel smakelijk kopje koffie dat eruit komt.

    Producing crema with a Moka is a myth... As far as I can recall crema is produced by pressure during the percolation; 9 BAR or something like that. That being said though, I can consistently produced a faux crema using freshly ground beans - however, it dissipates as soon as the coffee is poured into the cup :)

      No! You'll only get good results with medium-fine ground coffee, per Bialetti instructions.
      There are a few pre-ground espressos that work well in the moka pot, but most espressos are ground much to fine.
      Pre-ground espressos that work well in the moka pot are illy Classico Espresso, Lavazza Qualitá Rossa, and Lavazza Crema e Gusto. Other coffees that are ground especially for the moka pot are illy Classico Moka Ground, and illy Intenso Moka Ground, which have a little red moka pot icon on the bottom front label.

      You COULD try to place it in a dry pan maybe? Should work, but use an old one without non-stick coat. Also, there are flat round iron plates for induction stove tops, so you can use dear old cooking gear and that should work for the bialetti, but I don't find that very practical because have fun getting a freakin' hot metal plate without a handle away from the stove ;)

      Keep in mind it's espresso not coffee. Much stronger than coffee. One 2 oz shot of espresso is approximately equal to a regular mug of standard strength coffee. I actually mix mine with 50% hot water to make coffee that's still stronger and more rich than my regular drip machine makes. You can make some great cappuccino with these and some expensive models even have milk frothers to make cream topped cappuccino and such.
