Fun fact: Many people may know purple is a royal colour because it was once expensive. But that makes the question why was it so expensive? Well that was because high quality purple dye was very hard to obtain only being made from a certain kind of slug
To make Tyrian purple, marine snails were collected by the thousands. They were then boiled for days in giant lead vats, producing a terrible odor. ... The video explains that snail-fueled purple persisted until chemists learned to make synthetic dyes. Yes I copy-pasted this
Royal purple is called royal because of its high expenses during ancient phoenician times. Only royalty could afford it because of its high price. It was made from a goop released from the Murex snail when it felt it was in danger and they chould only be found along the beaches and coast of Phoenicia. Phoenicians were later known as "the purple people" due to the fact they where the only ones able to produce and sell this dye.
