    its great to see so many positive comments for this man Tom Yankello. I love this man's videos, and we who train and hold pads honestly have to admire young Bodish. He follows instruction brilliantly, a credit to his mentor. Student and Master... a joy to watch

    0:01 defrnd n counter overhand
    0:20 time stamp
    0:20 all comes down : to timing positioning
    0:35 dany has real good positioning: =have enough timing to be able to read things
    0:58 when guy throw overhand rt over my jab
    1:18 he hit overhand over top
    1:15 when I throw jab and he try counter with overhand rt
    weave underneath it: comes down to footwork and timing
    Becz I am little but further when I throw jab he counter with overhand
    1:38 weaving footwork: step forward with lft foot first then rt foot
    Step forward and little bit to lft same time
    (To get an angle /and put myself outside his rt shoulder)
    2:05 (to take angle / and put myself outside of his rt shoulder ) off the overhnd rt when weaving
    2:15 now Iam in position to throw lft hook body /or head
    2:25 jab is twist / alot of people push their jab /not put weight to the front leg
    (not the proper body mechnic for jab )
    Jab is recoil for rt hand (I get power from the hip twist / turn from lft to rt )
    2:55 twist from lft to rt
    I set rt hand / plus Iam further away from his over hnd rt/ not leanin to him
    3:10 so he step to me /I step other way and take angle
    3:25 body mechanic : turn lft rt twist (counterclock / clockwise )
    Jab turn from lft to rt / clockwise
    Weave :turn from rt to lft counterclockwise (weave under overhand /defend and counter)
    When weave step with lift then rt foot forward and to lift little bit to get an angle ad put my self outside his rt shoulder
    Then throw body head hook
    5:00. (back foot heel touch ground on body hook /then off ground to load up for hook /then touch ground on hook ). Then front foot tun on hook
    5:40 know my position n timing on headmovent (weave overhand)
    6:10 put head into arm pit when weaving /when weaving under overhand rt
    6:23bonus :throw body shot while weaving /then body head hook
    7:15 that’s one way defend n counter overhand rt

    Beautiful! Coach, would you recommend this in self defense in a street fight when the opponent throws the haymaker? I ask because that’s a common, classic punch in the street.

    • @AshwinMenon
      @AshwinMenon 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Timing the weave is much harder than it looks. Would be better to move out and stay at a safe jab distance unless you've got a lot of sparring under your belt.

    • @juliansanderson839
      @juliansanderson839 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AshwinMenon yeah, weaving under a haymaker is real difficult. Mainly because the SOLE advantage of a haymaker is that is can take several different paths to the target. Start high, end wide, start low, end high, start wide, end tight.
      It’s way better to circle out of range/away from punching side than gamble under the haymaker, unless you already know exactly what they gonna do…

    • @John-on3wt
      @John-on3wt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol you were thinking the same thing I was thinking. The right overhand thrown sloppily is the go to first punch for most guys

    • @a14567
      @a14567 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Flying knee is the perfect counter for the street fight situation because most guys are looking straight down to avoid getting hit as they throw the haymaker

    On an unrelated note, is that a series of actual homes in the background or a series of miniature models of homes in the background? It almost looks like a fun optical illusion.

    Can you do video about how to handle somone who has a L hand out about 2/3 out so that the glove is always in your face (like Conor MacGregor). How do you handle such a jab. being short, I have to eat a jab like that before I come in and do my Duran stuff.

    Danny's got good control and form.
    Can u make a video on how to structure ur sparring to focus on certain techniques? I often find myself just reacting to "whatever-happens" in sparring. We gear up and just spar.

    Hi coach,
    Like others video , great lesson. But i asked a question, like in the bonus part in this video , throwing a body shot while weaving outside but instead I throw a short looping right to the head. Is it better?
    And i also have problem with the combos: weaving outside+left to body+left to the head cause I found that in sparring , after my opponent missing their over hand they tend to pivot clockwise so i found it difficult to land the double left hook like in the videos.

    If Danny pulled straight back after slipping the right hand would it be considered a slip and slide movement like Pernell Whitiker. I know james Toney was more philly shell but I have read that Pernell used more slide n slide style. There is no information on slide and slide style (lost art). It would great if you could give more information on style or where to look. Thanks and awesome job as always.

    • @Goldenchicoreacts
      @Goldenchicoreacts 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends...with me i would do a front kick to the torso then follow up with a back kick to the mid section or face haha.

    • @Goldenchicoreacts
      @Goldenchicoreacts 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's many things you can do but it depends on ur fighting kill and techniques and of course speed and control. Another hing i would do is a sweep to the legs then some ground and pound. But if we are fighting in a ring with rules and no kicking is allowed or elbows then i would have to slip and give a uppercut or just trade blows and hope i don't get knocked out heheh

    Yes!! Been waiting for this one coach. Great video, thank you sir 🥊. One question, what do you do when an opponent has timed your jsb and thrown the overhand right over the top of your jab, at your temple? So far, only dipping to my right as I jabbed has worked to avoid that. Was wondering if their was something more effective I could do. Cheers

    No No No most coaches like you Coach is not replicating a shot at the fighters head! You are throwing it OVER his head! You coaches need to throw it like a real punch straight at the boxers head! The idea is practice and making fighter replicate the movements.
