I struggle making large package missions like this because of the AIs desire to F* it up on issues that take place 45+ minutes into the mission. Great vid!
Getting stuck on some of the default Apache missions, because helicopters sometimes struggle to land and take off. This wasn't a problem before the latest patch. It's infuriating having to deal with this shit 15 years after release...20 if you include LOMAC.
Amen brother. Two years later and it's not much better. They have improved much of the AI behavior, but not enough to keep it from unraveling in the worst possible way. I just ran one where a two ship Tomcat CAP off the Theodore Roosevelt was at 30k feet and detected hostile inbounds. They were set for max range engagement with Phoenix's. What do they do? -2 dives for the deck and lead goes to burner. When -2 get's to 3k feet, he goes to burner and claws his way back up to altitude. Lead is burning to get behind the target for a Sidewinder shot. -2 gets to BINGO fuel and cannot make it back to the boat, so he lands at an ENEMY base. I stopped the mission at that point. I went back trying to see what I did wrong but the mission was set up perfectly. It's actually kind of funny to watch sometimes, but when you spend that much time and effort, it gets OLD.
Yes, I recently discovered DATIS! It's a plug in that runs off a local SRS server! It is life changing, I'll be using it on basically all my missions I make moving forward
Are these missions all included in the maps / F-16? Or do you build them yourself? Also, how hard is it to learn the F-16 if you're already somewhat proficient in the F/A-18?
The f16 is much easier. Modern jet startups are basically the same, ins alignment is much faster to become "acceptable". The f16 also has really simple procedures to set up weapons and whatnot compared to the f18
I feel like the Viper is home to me but that's probably because I've been "flying" it for more than 20 years thanks to Falcon 4.0 and it's history. When I jump back in the hornet I find I have to take a few minutes to reorient myself to what I feel is the funky hotas layout lol. I don't have that problem switching from Viper to Warthog, their flows are somewhat similar. As for this mission, I made it myself, it took a while to get it to a point where I was ready to film it, hence why it took so long to get it out there. Hope you enjoyed!
@@RaptorRising I enjoyed it a lot, and looks like I need to try my own hand at mission making as well. Falcon 4.0 was my first real sim, and I love the look of the Viper. Guess my next module is either the F-16 or the AH-64, your videos are perfect advertisements for DCS. ;)
I think they're about the same. Without stored heading the Viper takes 8 MINUTES! I don't think the Hornet is unintuitive, but the Viper makes more sense to me
Yeah, some building destruction looks better than other types... but there's a trade-off with that since that requires additional computing power and would probably result in a performance drop. I think for most people dropping bombs from jets at 20k feet it's not really worth the performance hit, as you really only see the models being replaced when you're actually at ground level watching it happen. I don't showcase the bombs hitting the targets to highlight the building damage as much as to just show the attack was successful and I find it entertaining just to see the bombs/missiles I launch reach their targets.
Create yourself a flight of 2 A-10C and set to 'Start on Runway' Your AI wingman will roll in formation with you, until your wheels leave the runway. Since you're technically not on the runway anymore, he'll move to the middle and ram you. Since the latest update, helicopters can't deal with obstacles around landing zones anymore. Either they land on a building right after TO or they circle forever, trying to land. It's insane how terrible DCS AI is.
Yeah for sure, except those guys and their balls of steel flew low level the whole way in, with radio silence and went through heavy AAA and still all came home! But hey... maybe that would be worth attempting 😏
@@mauricesearcy7789 I play on maxed out graphics in 4K resolution, so I think that makes a big difference for the 3D feel of everything. The only settings I have off are depth of field, SSLR and one other one I can't remember the name of at the moment.

I hear you, it's really difficult to depend on them to do anything really.

Very Great content
Well made video. Nice complex scenario, good pacing and timing and of course nice flying!
Thanks! It took a while to build it but it played out quite well! Appreciate your comment and support!
Once again, awesome video.
Outstanding
Good sortie
Great work man! I’ve never seen a DCS vid with ATIS. Did you have a download an add-on app for that? I want to set that up for my own flights

I have like 8 planes in DCS and I really need to apply myself. I have the F-16 and I don't know how to do anything but land and take off.
Check out BOGEY DOPE

dcs needs to urgently remade the building destruction animation...

Any chance you out the mission for download? DCS has great modules but in terms of gameplay and content it's really lacking!
Actually yes, I'm pretty sure I shared this one on the user files section of the dcs site.
@@RaptorRising Could you share the link please dude?

can you upload the mission file ?
Absolutely! I have just uploaded it to the DCS user files site - I think it can take a day or two to show up.

I don't believe I've made this mission available to the public.

Nice video. Surprised how bland and low quality the nuclear plant explosion was.
It's nuke power and processing plant. So no big explosions. Want to see that hit an explosives factory or bomb dump.

I wasn't in this video but my new videos coming out soon will be in VR!
