This is great. Proves that you can create dense, lush shoegaze sounds w/ a very basic setup. That's very much what the shoegaze spirit is all about. People forget that the OG shoegazers used a lot of cheap boss/digitech stuff and just messed around w/ the knobs and pedal positions.

I agree so much! Ive been doing shoegaze stuff for years and 90% of my rig is cheap shit ive found online, behringer pedals and amps with kmise pedals and an 80$ strat copy. Not to mention all the early bands that mostly just plugged into amps which were usually cheap solid states.

@@gupster24 Indeed, Behringer is great for shoegaze. I really like that they are (mostly) Boss clones, so for the price of one Boss delay pedal you can get like 5 different Behringer pedals and go wild. I have the HM300 (like the one in this video), and it's great in this type of setup, at the end of the chain. Pump delay and reverb into it and you get a nice wobbly, fuzzy, rough around the edges kind of sound, which the OP captures well in his demo.

Playing starts at 1:08 - sorry for the talking. This is camera audio only because I wanted to give an idea of the "room sound" or "sound in the room"
This video and pedalboard was inspired by seeing the Trauma Ray frontman's pedalboard at Andy's in Denton Texas April 27th 2023. He has a Walrus Audio RED distortion pedal on his board as his first dirt box in his chain. I looked it up and the Walrus RED pedal is a clone or based on the Boss HM-2 pedal. The behringer HM300 is a direct clone of the boss HM-2 (Source JHS)

@@RhoadesGuitars most of the time I like my modulation into dirt into delay into reverb
But for more blown out crazy Shoegaze sounds I sometimes like getting a little crazy and starting off with delay and reverbs first in the chain. It really makes a wall of sound. If the delay is last I find the repeats to be more subtle as you would normally hear.
With the delay and reverb first they get crazy because the delay repeats and reverb swells are getting distorted themselves by the dirt effects.
It is definitely backwards and “not best practice” but I think it can be fun to do and it definitely makes me play differently and come up with different song ideas
