I just snorted out loud! I know you are fibbing! Thank you for the laugh! Looks like we are about to get a bunch of rain to push through TN, but some warmer temps to boot!! That should help spark some bites.

A lightweight Carolina rig with circle hooks and powerbait or semi floating lures is super deadly working with the currant in low flow areas. Try it out!

I will definitely give that a try! Thank you for the suggestions. Much appreciated.

Master class per usual, it's slow as you know what here in NW AL creeks, but the prize is still attainable if willing to go long stretches without a bite. Appreciate the info....

How's it going Dennis? I hope all is well. Did you all get surface ice last week with the cold snap that pushed through?

@fishsmack , thanks for the return message, no ice on creek, but totally at our lake lot that is close to creek ...

Glad to talk to you Dennis. I'm learning from your experiences as well. We had ice in our creeks last week, and when that happens...it's definitely a shock to our fish, since it's a little abnormal for that to occur here. Our creeks have partially frozen twice so far this year.

Nice to see another angler who actually knows how to fish a Ned rig. Very good job informing people about how to fish the Ned properly. This bait can be deadly when used right.

Thank you brother! We can get off in the weeds on this topic, and I'm still learning little nuances to the Ned. I hope you have a great weekend. We are blown out with rain in TN right now. Be safe my friend.

@@fishsmack yes, Nolichucky, pigeon and French broad were trashed pretty bad. Pretty much scoured of anything green or alive. Lots of place where campgrounds or put ins were, are gone. Land is gone that they sat on. It’s nothing but river bed, river rock.

Truly an inspiration to the fishing community! Great information as always presented in a way that is anything but the boring, instruction-like droning of others trying to teach. Every post makes me more proud of the fact that I have actually fished with you and had the experience of a lifetime. Keep the content coming Trey! Godspeed and tightlines my friend.

This video is a must-see for anyone just getting into creek fishing, and for experienced anglers as well! Great explanation of things like why ned rig weight is important and where fish hold in the winter and why. If I could add, I use the lightest ned rig jig head I can get away with because of the slower fall rate. I hadn't thought of it from your perspective before, but it makes total sense. Keep up the good work with these videos, and I hope to see you on the water some day!

    • @fishsmack

You are spot on about the fall rate. That is another really important factor that I forgot to mention....and it's a BIG factor not to over look. Did I ask what your name is last time? I like to try and keep up with names as much as I can. Thanks again for stopping by. I greatly appreciate the comment and your time! Have a great week.

Well, you’ve given me the incentive to try the Ned rig AGAIN. I catch a lot of river/creek fish on wacky rigged stick baits and finesse jig/craw baits but gave up on the Ned presentation a few years ago. Thanks for sharing.

Morning buddy! I wear thermal underwear and wool socks under my waders and on really cold days I will also wear fleece pants. My legs generally stay warm since I'm walking, but if I sit too long in the water, my feet will start to get cold. I hope all is well. Have a great weekend and be safe.

You ever use micro trd zman in pbandj? It's awesome dude. My new favorite on 1/16 zman ned head. I also like the Nikko Hellgrammite. It's money dude.

What's up Michael! I hope you are doing well. I have not picked up a pack of them yet, but they are on my list. I really like that micro line of baits...even the mayfly. Two winters ago, I fished a magma and a purple Nikko hellgrammite the entire winter. I caught around 175 smallies with just those 2 baits, and I finally lost one of them around March when a smallie snapped me off.
