- Hey Team this week we have a mixed bag of the best weather you can get camping combined with great fishing and location, with then bad weather and some cabin fever looking for breaks in the rain to get outside while we can...
Marenui beach has a great POP (Park over Property) Which we really enjoyed, we spent 4 days here exploring, fishing, playing and walking before the weather turned and we had a day inside which was actually well needed.
From there we left for Te Kaha, where we stayed on our friends (The Guests) holiday batch where they like to go diving and fishing and enjoy the quietness of a small town. It was a pity the weather wasn't great because we were keen to do some fishing off the rocks, and maybe get the snorkel sets out... Maybe next time.

Cheers team, well done on making it to 2k... Quite the journey isn't it... We'll be there soon enough hopefully... Yea sometimes they get a bit freaked out putting the fish back, if they have a bit of a flap on the beach when the kids try pick them up, lol... This Pop was great I'm guessing there are a few good ones down south.

Some stunning drone shots, and loved watching you catch fish and cook nice healthy meals. Pity about Te Kaha camp being closed, we stayed there on our 2020 trip around the cape. We had yucky weather too!
Yea the drone shots where we parked up on hill were so good I was stoked with how they turned out.... I hope those dots re open
My mouth was watering watching you cook and eat that fish. Fishing is not something we ever do but might be worth giving it a try next year when we’re in that area.
Yep our friends went there a few months after us, they got plenty off that beach as well

It's a great spot I guess you can go As fast or slow as you want. Lots to see. It's tough camping out here in bad weather though

Great footage, and some nice snapper for dinner. A real mix of weather. The East Cape is another place I'd love to get back to for a decent trip. We last visited in around 2004 with a wee camper trailer during a massive storm event so didn't see a whole lot
It's a place exposed to the elements aye, very little infrustructre and shops, and it's way put of the way, far from everything no wonder so many people don't go this way. I'd say it hasn’t changed since 2004. Was 2012 we last came round seems the same, but more closed down... I was do happy to eat that Snapper 😋

I haven't been to that part of the country since I was a teenager. It'll be good to see ot again. That was some snapper!!
It's a long haul camping as there is nothing but God's beautiful nature out here do when the weathers bad as it is again today she's a bit boring out here... a lot of people will drive it in a day or have 1 night stop somewhere... definitely worth the adventure
@@leopardsgowild I was on a CHB District Scout trip. We did a round trip right round the Cape and back through Rotorua, with Pete Brun driving one of his original buses. From Memory we stayed in maraes at Tokomaru Bay and Te Araroa in the cape area.
Fabulous memories being made with Toby, great fishing, mind you it’s about time you caught a few Mike 😜 looks like a great POP, have added that one to our saved list 👍
Yea was a fantastic spot would def go back there again and again... apparently no chance of fitting in over Christmas break 😕 that fish has filled my fishing soul for a few more spots that's for sure, haven't caught a fish since then though.. cheers team.

Yea man we are looking forward to getting to a town and maybe going to some hot pools we are about 16 days on the coast now, time for a good sized supermarket

Hey thanks Tracy, was great fun being there until the weather turned... Looks like we are in for a rough night and day tomorrow as well out on the East Coast, hope no roads are affected... We have sometimes left the awning out and then had to take it in at 2am when wind has picked up, so we basically just pack it in every night now.
That was an impressive fish, how many meals did that one provide you? It's nice to get a bit of rain aye, days on end another story. Shame about the freedom camp spot closed, we used the one at Te Kaka and it was an awesome spot.
I was so happy with that snapper, it did us 3 large meals, plus the other fish 🐟 we got toby wanted something else... someone in our current spot camped at Te kaha a few nights ago even with the no camping signs they said no dramas... I hope those places open up again it's basically made every business down the coast close. Even tye macadamia Cafe was closed

How does the hilux go pulling the van? Obviously you’re in quite mountainous terrain. Does it struggle up the hills? I have a hilux and not to sure to upgrade or hold onto it. We get a new van soon and fully loaded it will be 3T. What are your thoughts on it?

Hey Thanks for the comment stoked as on a great sized snapper.... beer was a slow drinking beer catching to many fish 🐟... mate the Hilux is a beast, not sure what version you have, we have the SR5 we put it in power mode when towing, pulls the Caravan sweet as, windy hill roads its not uncommon to be in 2nd gear, I try not to let it work to hard so a steep one I just keep the reeves at 2.5rpm and cruise up rather then forcing it...
Awesome videos really enjoy your laid back style need to go and explore this area. Just wondering is drone fishing cheating? If it is I need to buy one.
I feel drone fishing isn't as cheating as going on a boat so 🤷 🤔 😬... I have had much luck since this spot though, do who knows... cheers for watching and the comment 👍

Hey Chris, Thanks for the message, yep we are good currently sitting by a fire nice and warm in a house of my dads mate. Caravans parked up nextdoor, all nice and dry. roads are open and we'll head to gisbourne next week hopefully in sunny weather
Binge watching a few episodes. Toby’s so adventurous always trying his hand at the different outdoor activities.
Not really into fishing but have to say that fish meal looked insane!
Yea TOby is always up for anything outside wouldn't matter if it was raining... He's pretty good at spotting things far away as well, and making up his own games... He'd be one of those kids that only comes home to eat and sleep... Looking forward to the big open adventurous places we will find in the South Island.

Cheers mate, I don't know how many videos you brave watched but I've not had the best luck fishing, I was so stoked with that snapper.
@@leopardsgowild I think you got lucky, the commercial fishers will take note and more than likely there will be no fish there very soon.... and blame the recreational fisher for fishing it out.

Hey Ted I'm not sure mate as we don't have a Dog I imagine if it's a well trained dog it would be fine, you'll find their ph number on the nzmca listing though super friendly ppl.
