Never thought Christopher was a rat,but he sure had potential to be one,and after the whole gang laughed at him when Paulie insulted his newborn daughter,I wouldn’t have blamed him.
You know who loved sniffing out rats? Was Vin Makazian, may he rest in peace. Fat Tony picked him out of the chorus, and flipped him, and turned him into a mutt.
Your diligence is admirable. Really, I can't imagine much of your generation diving this deeply into the best show evah. "You know I love you more than anything in this world, right?"
Excellent video. I also like that you introduced Chris into this. We know ultimately he wasn't a rat but it felt like the show runners may have been trying to plant seeds of doubt and toying with the audience that it could be a possibility.
@@uninhibition31 Thank you so much - I appreciate it!! I think it’s important to include him, as I think at the very least it’s something they wanted us to consider and not something that would’ve been out of the realm of possibility based on where things had gotten with Christopher & his relationship with Tony.
@@MattMorgan1991 Yeah, great point. I think Tony was also in denial about Puss so it was convenient for him on a personal level as well to be able to point fingers at Jimmy but Jimmy was SO bad at his informant job that he really did Puss a solid and gave him another year to live.
Great video Stephanie! The term rat in the Sopranos is very self serving...the notion is that a rat will escape trouble to save itself without a care for its fellow rodents. Ironically many of the characters on the Sopranos were left with no other choice given their life circumstances. Often enough it was done to save their own blood relatives at the risk of their own existence. Tony scoffed at rats often but he was mostly insulated from justice.
@@tonyr7000 Thank you for your comment! And great points, as always. And on that note about Tony scoffing at rats, funny how it’s Tony meeting up in the fed’s car by the time we get to the very end.
Yeah, they never give us a definitive answer like they do with many others, but to me I feel like it’s hard to explain his getting out of jail so quickly, his specific, prodding questions for Tony, and his not shouting out right away to Sil and Christopher that he’s NOT a rat lead me to think he was.

There were a lot of informants on the Sopranos ship, but they should not be called rats. The informants are providing evidence on murders and thieves to end their dishonest careers.
The Sopranos is fiction and I don't consider it to be bad to use the language of or even to take the side of any baddies in fiction, just as long as their actions and attitudes aren't copied in real-life (when not discussing the work of fiction in question). I also think that 'dishonest' isn't the most appropriate word for thieves and murderers. Many legitimate and law-abiding careers have a lot of dishonesty in them.
