It's funny, im a long time sp404 guy, and i got an mkii right away. But i actually sold the mkii because of koala. Koala is just so fast and easy and fun. And all of the updates keep making it better and better

Koala doesn’t come close to the sp

@@zmacb the complexity of the new sp is both great, and not great. What i loved about sp's was how fast and easy they are to use. All the features they added to the mkii, made it more powerful, but also more complicated. It was at a point where i had way more fun making beats on koala, and found myself getting a little annoyed with the mkii.
Having said that, there is a slight issue with my perspective, and that's because i preordered the sp, and while i had it, it was a brand new product. Bugs and all. There were a lot of bugs and issues with the mkii, and i created bug reports for Roland so they could recreate what i found. Currently, i don't have an mkii anymore, so idk how many of the bugs were fixed, and knowing Roland, i assume most have been addressed.
But all that aside, i love the way koala works. And for me, i actually prefer it to the spmkii. Which is surprising considering how deep i was in the sp beat scene haha but yea, different strokes

Koala is an absolutely essential app ! It’s just got a big update with EQ too. Fantastic on it’s own , it’s also great fun to use alongside the SP404 . Great to see you making videos on it 👍👍

Nice man yeah I need to cop that upgrade but want to make sure everything is covered via video! I'll be getting Samouri too in the next vid. i've got it on my phone and its a must have 🙌

Thank you for covering one of the greatest apps ever made. IT HAS SO MANY FUNCTIONS! WHY IS IT SO SLEPT ON! My favorite for youtube digging. Just make a screen recording and import it directly into the app for chopping.

bro, so happy youre covering Koala Sampler! Good timing too with the release of the 3 Band EQ for the Samurai Mode, absolute game changer IMO.

Yeah, been using koala just over a year now, killer. Way easier to time stretch stuff on than the mpc, and the algorithm sounds better imo. Stem separation is beast too. Of all my music gear koala is defo the most intuitive and creative tool for me.

Good to see another northerner doing the Koala thing. I’ve been doing a lot of production videos on this little gem of an app too. I subscribed to you because of the SP but I’m excited to see where you go with this! 👍👍

I love this app I started sampling in it before incorporating the sp 404 mk2 into my workflow, I use the MPD-32 for an MPC type workflow on the app and it works like a dream.

Duuuude koala is the shit! Been messing around with it for a couple weeks, finding myself forgetting to use my fancy pants hardware. On the other hand, it compliments the hardware well.

Nice! Would like to see how to use along side the 404. Looks so simple in comparison to hardware samplers. 2

Been looking for a sampling companion for my Syntakt. Worked with this yesterday with quick easy good results. It syncs well to Syntakt clock. Syntakt analog audio in to Koala via USB is super convenient. The recorded level is low but a quick normalization takes care of it.

, this app is awesome! One thing that comes to mind is I wish Roland would use the time stretch algorithms we have here in the 2020s rather than 1990s garbage. .😭😭😭😭😭😭

Been looking into a music making / sketching app recently, is this the top choice? I’m on iPhone and there’s also fl studio and some ableton stuff, not sure which to pick

    • @spvidz

Not sure tbh I’ve not tried any of those. There’s a good community around koala though and I love the simplicity of it

Defo go with koala. Caustic 3 is sick, dope synths and a sampler in it too. I use both. Koala is so easy and fun to use though.
