    I have had psoriasis for 30 years and psoriatic arthritis for about 10 years. I have been on MTX for the last 12 years. What are the main risks factors or complications for me? Can the potential risk/complications be managed or avoided and how?

    • @JasonMartinMD
      @JasonMartinMD  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for watching! The main risk factor with MTX immunosuppressant is the potential for an increase in post operative complications, mainly infection and or slow/nonhealing wounds. This is of course weighed against the possibility of a flair if you were to discontinue the medication. We recommend discussing your surgical plans with your primary care provider and plastic surgeon to plan for dosing around the time of surgery. In most cases, you can time your injections to minimize risks of complications while still minimizing your risk of a flair.

      I have the same issue! I am on Rinvoq and cannot stop at all due to a flare but also really hate my neck. Noninvasive things have not worked. I honestly am thinking of having the surgery while on it if a doctor would agree to it. Just because I have an incurable disease does not mean I should be totally ineligible for beauty treatments (in my eyes).

    Wondering how you would address hollowness in the undereye area. Nano fat transfer, fillers?

    I take a jak inhibitor pill daily for inflammatory bowel disease but still want a neck lift. I am 34 and the use have steroids for 18 years has loosened my skin and I already started with a double chin! Am I totally off limits? I don’t want him calling my GI since this is personal to me and embarrassing. He will think I am nuts for wanting this done.

      Hi Joanna! Thanks for watching! I would recommend discussing surgery in general with your GI, you don't need to mention what it's for :) Once you have his baseline input you can have a deeper conversation with your plastic surgeon and make a plan for your necklift!

    When can you start back into weightlifting?

    • @JasonMartinMD
      @JasonMartinMD  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Sheila! We generally clear our patients for light weights around 4-6 weeks postop with a return to pre surgery effort at/around 8 weeks postop.

    Oh yes we always have blue sky in Sweden 😅
    Just out of curiousity: is a mini in some way correlated to the amount of stitches in the smas? I'm thinking local anesthesia and thus (usually) less time - thus less stitches and thus less sustainable?

    • @JasonMartinMD
      @JasonMartinMD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Blablabla! We love a sunshiny blue sky day!
      A mini facelift will still include as many sutures as needed to resuspend the SMAS. Many factors impact aging in general and the amount of time in between procedures. Typically those who seek out an early intervention facelift have pre-mature aging and even with a surgical reset they may continue to see visible signs of aging at an accelerated rate compared to their peers.

      @@JasonMartinMD - Thank you for posting a great educational video. Can you please clarify the last sentence? I'm trying to understand if those predisposed to premature ageing, will unwittingly, accelerate the ageing process by having a facelift? Would it not be the same for anyone who decides to have a facelift? I suspect when you opt to have your face cut open, healthy tissues, blood vessels, muscle etc are compromised? As no one is aware of how they will heal post surgery, perhaps even those fortunate enough to age slowly, could find themselves ageing at an accelerated rate after a facelift? Hope my query is clear. English is not my first language!
