What food and fluids should be avoided before surgery? heard Ginger is one of them. And heard eating pineapple and taking aminca for brushing and swelling. Is beneficial, also taking bromeline supplements. What are your recommendations?
What about someone with alopecia? Obviously the scars will show, just like to know have you done surgery on anyone with alopecia and what was the outcome?
Thank you for this informative episode! I have now listened to almost all episodes and am excited about the interesting content. I still have a question about the SMAS face and neck lift: can this procedure be combined with a nosejob or would this operation then be too long or too extensive? So also regarding the healing process?
Hi Esther, thank you for watching! Yes, we often combine a face and neck lift with a rhinoplasty or other facial surgery, eyes, brow, etc. Combining surgeries allows you to combine your downtime and recovery as well! Adding a rhinoplasty will likely increase your post-operative bruising and swelling, this will quickly resolve in the first 1-2 weeks post op.
Planters dry roasted peanuts and Brach's candy corn, by the handfuls. Yum-mo-li-cious! Don't yuck our yum! LOL! And THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR CHANNEL! It's so good to know where and how to start your plastic surgery journey. I'm excited to get things started! 😃
I'm 10 days out after my face and neck lift. I'm young, 42. I went to a great, reputable surgeon. I'm worried because one side of my face is really high, has lumpy looking cheekbone area and a large horizontal line on that same upper cheek. He said the line was from where the drain sat and would disappear but it's still there. Very odd. Do u have any idea why an indent like that would be there? And are asymmetries and lumps normal parts of swelling at day 10? 😢
Hi Jasmine Marie, congratulations on your recent surgery! Yes, it is quite common to have irregularities in swelling 10 days postop. Swelling is rarely symmetrical from side to side and can even change from day to day as you recover. Your surgeon may recommend some gentle massage to help decrease swelling, especially in the drain areas. Happy healing!
Hi Alexandra, thank you for watching! Most patients will have notable swelling for 3-4 weeks postop. There will be some mild swelling for longer but this is typically not noticeable and localized to the mid-face.
I'm 6 months out and still have swelling and my neck is puffy and still not tight. I've been on forums where other patients have had this and alot of other complications. Not one of our surgeons warned us recovery can take so long! I was not prepared and I am still hoping I will get the results I want. I here it can take up to a year! I had a lower face and neck lift. Pain was fine by the way. But now I'm worrying about the final results.

Hi A Cripe, thanks for watching! The American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is for surgeons who perform surgery on the face and neck only. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons is for surgeons who perform surgery on the entire body. Great question!

This is important content but the flippant presentation and insider jabs at patients is annoying
