    Hi Bona Pro, sorry if i missed information about sanding the wood. What grain of sand paper do you use before put stain on? Thank you for your answer

      Hi Gavyuk - Important that in the sanding process, that not more than one grit is skipped in the sequence (i.e. 36 (40) 50 (60) 80, would be typical where 40 and 60 are skipped). In general, we usually stop at 80 or 100 grit, though sometimes even take it up to 120 grit, depending on the species, darkness of the stain color, external light coming in, etc. It's also very common to take it up to 120 grit and then water-pop it back to open up the hard grain and get a darker color out of the can (this can also help hide some minor scratches, etc.). Hope that helps. If you need more information, please give our technical team a call at (800) 872-5515. All the Best!

    I wish their stain was available. Is this water or oil based stain?

      Hi Gary - Sorry you're having problems getting ahold of DriFast Stain. Please reach out to your local territory manager to see if they can help you out. Bona DriFast Stain is a quick-drying oil-modified urethane based stain. Hope that all helps!

    How do you keep the carpet fibers out of the finish when buffing?

    • @BonaProfessional
      @BonaProfessional  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi rhewcrew - Some of the carpet fibers/tufts do tend to come off the carpet circle when using this method; but are easily vacuumed up after the stain has dried. Have never had this present a problem in applying stain (or in teaching Bona students to apply stain with a carpet circle) like this for more than fifteen years now. Thanks for the question!

      Does bleaching affect dryability of Dryfast stain? Any problems with two coats of stain?

    Do you use the dry lint free cloth?

    • @BonaProfessional
      @BonaProfessional  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Bananalane - Not sure which part of the process that you're asking about, but we typically use regular terry cloth rags for ragging Bona DriFast Stain on and off (available at your local Home Depot or Lowes in the cleaning aisle). Hope that helps.

    What was the second stain you used? I'm confused how each half of that second grey side look so different. Thank you for all of Bona's published videos!

    • @BonaProfessional
      @BonaProfessional  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Molly - The difference in the grey sides are that we "water popped" part of that section the night before applying the stain (lightly and evenly damped it with water to open up the grain; once dried, the hard grain areas accept a lot more of the stain to give you less contrast with the soft grain, so the whole floor will look darker and more evenly stained). The actual stain color was Bona DriFast Stain Grey, with a little Graphite and White added (50/50 mix), to give me a little more product as I was running a bit short for the demo and didn't have another can of the Grey in-house. Hope that helps!

    so no bona clasicc seal over stain.😮

    • @BonaProfessional
      @BonaProfessional  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi @ladjkaoz - Correct, Bona does not recommend the use of Bona ClassicSeal over any stain. Not that you could expect total failure, but we always recommend Best Practices and ClassicSeal doesn't exhibit the best adhesion characteristics over solvent-based stains. Hope that helps confirm any questions you had about that. IntenseSeal is usually our go-to for "popping" the chosen stain color and ensure excellent adhesion characteristics!

    What is water pop it??

    • @BonaProfessional
      @BonaProfessional  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Water-popping is a process where after the floor is sanded, a thin layer of water is evenly applied (sprayed and smoothed out) to the entire floor - let dry overnight - and then the stain is applied. The water "pops" the hard grain of the floor, allowing it to accept more of the stain coloration. This will make the entire floor darker (or whiter, etc) and more even across the grain pattern. Thanks for the question and hope this helps answer it.
