Just gone through all this crap,I lost 3 fifteen year old 45cm showa to this same batch all developed swimbladder issues with in 6 weeks of each other,I Separated them one at a time each one lasted between 1 and 2 weeks from diagnosis I tried Epsom salt bath till it turned over on all them,I got a good initial response but shortlived,
I am now in the process of my second fmg dose as 2 of the fish had developed bacteria issue cottonwool type fungus,Iv never had this before and I don't know about your fish but my other fish definitely got depressed and reduced feeding because of the original swimbladder issue, which I think contributed to the secondary illness,
My parameters are generally good similar results to yours even after fmg dose,
These ponds can really beat you up hopefully you won't be as unlucky as I was fingers crossed,Iv enjoy your channel by the way

Hi Kev, some people are suggesting that diffusers on the bottom of ponds can cause swim bladder problems. I turned mine off at the beginning of the year and if i want air in the pond i suspend an airstone about a foot down. Good luck.

He’s certainly looks like he’s having swim/buoyancy issues. Problem is there’s plenty of treatments for the external issues but once they develop an internal problem it’s very difficult to treat. Especially as they can’t say what’s wrong. If you know of any koi medic/vet that can recommend or prescribe any antibiotics then that may be your only hope. If you haven’t already try searching the specialise groups? Good luck and hope you can save it.

Great video. Really hope your fish pulls through.. Strange one you have there. It's not clamping so I doute parasites is the problem? Maybe the swim bladder, but its staying upright? Good luck with your diagnosis. Every day is a school day... #koipondlifestyle.

Hello Kev, I had really bad bacterial infection in one of my koi over 6 years ago. Had to get a fish vet out to the house costing £90.00p plus a course of 12 off injected anti-biotics (nufulor) costing £14.80p. He kindly showed me how to inject the fish over a 12 day period, otherwise it would of cost me a fortune 12x £90.00p = £1080! I had to keep the fish in our bath during this treatment. It was the best thing I ever did as the fish made a full recovery. Sadly the vet no longer practices and there are no other fish vet or exotic vets in the Northwest of England. I know your fish has swimbladder / kidney problems and there is a really good fish vet on you tube who has videos regarding treatment of these conditions, may be worth contact him. Kind regards fellow fish keeper. Dave Reid.

Thanks David for the info. The large Fish has sadly passed away but I have had a few people recommended to me just in case I have an issue again.

@@AKoiEnthusiast Hello Kev, sorry to hear that, I quess the key is to spot these things early and hopefully treat them correctly we all run the risk with our fish. Cheers. Dave Reid.

Hi Kevin, it's a pity your already using both your fry vats as one would have been ideal to put your sick koi into to make it easier to keep an eye on it and also so it can get some food without it having to compete for it, assuming it's got it's appetite of course, hope it makes a quick recovery, stay safe.
    Rob.

@@AKoiEnthusiast if you've got the space to store it it might be handy to keep hold of it incase you need to quarantine any fish in future, if they do turn up for the vat you could always tell them they can/can't have it but you need to use it for your sick koi first.

Kev a quick question about the nt labs fmg mixture does it work well with trichodina?

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Cheers for watching. I'm no expert on FMG but I have read it can be used to treat White spot, Trichodina, Costia and Chilodonella. It is also ideal for fish showing symptoms of a parasitic or fungal infection, including white spots along the fins. I would possibly try these in this order with the last being possibly the best and most lethal (Caution):
      Chloramines T
      Malachite green
      Formalin / formaldehyde
      Potassium Permanganate

Did not look like a happy chap if you have a all round ant/bac I would have him out and do a bowl treatment of that as well. I have found over the years if you have to look hard for the bugs to find any you don't have a problem you will always find the odd bug the only one I jump fast on if I find one or two is Fluke. As a all round dip for that fish go with a strong dip of Acryflavin in a bowl that's my allrounder fingers crossed the chap pulls through

Will keep fingers crossed for you and the little chap. The pop eye fish I'm Treating hear was born hear and is 7 - 8 years old and one of the best fish I have hear she's looking better but I know the pop eye will come and go as it has for the past 3 years but at some point I'm going to lose the fish. all part of koi keeping and hard some times
