Thanks for this update ,I’m traveling to Tokyo with my family on the 5th then to Hakuba,Kiso valley,Kyoto and Osaka. I feel for every one affected. Fingers crossed for no transport suspension.🤞
That's great you are visiting here soon. :) Shinkansen operation is back and Haneda's runway reopened except runway C, so I hope your travel will go smooth. 🤞Enjoy your Hakuba and Kyoto trip!
My prayers for Japan and the Japanese people. I’m sorry for the people affected in the earthquake area. I was wondering about Kanazawa so I’m glad that you mentioned that most buildings are OK. The deaths on the Coast Guard plane are terrible but it is a miracle that all passengers and crew on the JAL plane got off safely. 🙏
Thank you. I don't see major damage in Kanazawa city center and Shinkansen is back to regular operation, but there might be something that doesn't come up to the news. Kanazawa is close to epicenter, so top tourist attractions such as 21st century museum and Kenrokuen Garden are closed as of today. I agree it was miracle about the JAL plane.
Hi Kengo, thanks a lot for the update. What a horrible start for Japan into 2024. I hope that yourself, your family and friends are safe and healthy. Its horrible to see what has happened in Ishikawa province. And although its of course very tragic that the staff from Coastguard involved in that tragedy at Haneda died, its really good that all the passangers from the JAL plane could be evacuated, before the plane went into flames. My best wishes from Switzerland.
Hi, thank you for your message. It's unfortunate as I can imagine many people were back home there for the new year. The accident at HND was something shouldn't have happened but very sad they were on the mission to support the earthquake area. I agree it could be a completely another year for Japan if JAL passenger couldn't evacuate in time. Hope you have a great 2024.
God bless you all. Japanese are great people We will visit Kanazawa in April including Takayama Shirakawago Toyoma and Kamakochi as well Our prayers are with you
I have arrived in Japan on the 2nd, hours before the plane tragedy in Haneda. I was shook that the unfortunate incident happened. Lucky or blessed is an understatement. My thoughts and prayers to those that were affected by the plane in Haneda and the earthquake.
I grieve for the lives lost, and yet I am also relieved that this quake and the subsequent tsunami is of a much, much smaller scale than the 2011 Tohoku quake.
Happy new dear Ken! Wish you all the best wishes. Thanks for sharing the video .Can you show me the way go to visit Ushiku Daibutsu ( Tallest Buddha) from Tokyo station. Thanks
I know the New Year is highly celebrated in Japan so thank you very much for considering us and providing this information. I’ve saved the links from the description for my trip in Spring 🙏I hope you and your family are well. Wishing you the best for the New Year.
I flew into Haneda on the day of the earthquake, of course it didn't affect that side of Japan. And my 10 day trip was as pleasant and exciting as it normally is. Love Japan.
That’s what I thought but my family has a different view. I do not plan to go to the west coast but will be in Kansai and Kyushu for a bit before heading to Tokyo. Do you know if these 2 areas are affected? I couldn’t find much info on the internet…. Thanks again Kenchan
Hello. I understand your family's concern. Honestly, it didn't get any affected in Tokyo, Kyushu and Kansai region such as Kyoto, Osaka, Nara. Domestic flights have still some schedule changes, but Shinkansen is back to regular operation and I really cannot think of any influence from these events.
Kenchan. Thank you very much for all your work. Just came back from Tokyo. All your videos were very helpful for me before the trip to help plan and organize the trip, determine what to see and how to get there like Nikko area. I hope troubles for Japan will stop starting on January 3.
I was in Tokyo for both this and 2011 and this one felt way smaller (from Tokyo of course) This one was quite short and gentle in comparison. I wouldn't have known it was anything major if my phone hadn't gone off or if I hadn't been watching TV at the time. But this time it was already around 4:30pm and the sun was setting, I feel bad for the people who were trapped in the darkness in the middle of winter.
The 5.0 quakes I used to sit through in Los Angeles and freak out...wow a 7.0 or above, good luck California. But, so impressed with Japan's engineering and discipline handling quakes.
My prayers to all the japanese people affected by the earthquake, we moroccans felt the same pain when the earthquake hit our country last year. I hope everything will go back to normal quick 🙏. Thanks for the updates !
Terrible news in the last 2 days for Japan and my prayers are with you all. I’m scheduled to visit in 3 weeks time, was contemplating if I need to cancel the trip. Your video and opinion has given me some comforts. Thank you Kenchan 🙏
Yes, what a start of 2024. Right now Tokyo and most other parts of Japan is in regular situation, TV programs are back to normal. I understand the news makes us nervous, but I think you don't see much influence unless you go closer to the epicenter. I wish you the best trip in Japan. :)
I'm glad you were safe. It depends on the building you are in. It is said you are in wooden structure, it's a good idea to seek the opportunity to escape. Otherwise, as you said probably you can stay in the building at least during the shake.
Much appreciated for this video as a lot of us are concerned with how the people are doing there and if everyone is safe. This doesn't look as bad as the tsunami in 2011, but prayers to everyone's safety there.
Thank you for your message. Yes, it's nothing like the one in 2011. It didn't have major influence to other parts of Japan. I think there was no casualty by Tsunami this time.
Indeed is not a pleasant start for Japan, but I'm sure things will resume as fast as possible. I will be visiting Japan, Tokyo, Kawaguchiko, Karuizawa and Kusatsu onsen next week. Thanks for the update, is reassuring to know I can carry on my trip. Looking forward to my trip in Japan. Gambette Japan. 💪 our thoughts and prayers always for you.
Thank you for the update and information, Ken-san. I am heading to Japan next month, and I feel much better hearing all this. The Japanese people are well equipped to handle this and your calm explanation is a perfect example of that.
It's a very sad start to 2024 indeed... I hope the people in Ishikawa will rebound soon. The plane collission and fire in Haneda was shocking as well.. my prayers for the lives lost both in the earthquake and the coast guard plane crew 😢.
I am glad that you and your family are safe our thoughts and prayers go out to the people in affected areas . Thank you for the information ,we are coming for a vacation very soon and you helped us decide to not cancel our trip. The videos are great and my wife and I enjoy them very much, thank you for your hard work! Take care.
Thank you for your message! I understand the concern coming out from these news, but I'm glad to hear my video could help you not to cancel the trip. I wish you the best trip in Japan. :)
Thank you for the updates. I made some friends during my last 2 trips to kanazawa. I had checked with them and glad that they are all fine . I pray for those who are suffering and hope they stay strong.
Kengo-San, I am so sorry with all that is going on right now in Japan, it breaks my heart… even with the plane crash it was good that the JAL plane was evacuated. I have family traveling through Tokyo now and they are scheduled to leave Saturday night, but I know they are in good hands in Japan. The Japan people take such good care of the visitors. I am praying for everyone… please take good care 🙏🏻
Really awful start to the year for the Japanese people. So glad you are safe my friend, hopefully better things come in the year for Japan. I'm sure the Japanese people will get through this, they are a strong nation with resilient people.
Thank you Ryuga san for your message. It was intense start of 2024 with a big news on Jan.1 and 2nd. I hope it only gets better after this for Japan and anywhere in the world. Please stay healthy and safe too Ryuga san.
My condolences and best prayers for all those affected. Thank you for sharing the updates with us! However i have plan to visit Tokyo, Gala Yuzawa, and Osaka but the end of this month. I am wondering if is it safe to travel? Thank you.
Thank you for your message. Yes, the only probelm Gala is facing now is the lack of snow this Winter, but there is no direct influence from the earthquake. Same for Tokyo and Osaka. I hope you enjoy your trip. :)
@@tokyokenchan I beg your pardon, what do you mean by the lack of snow? I plan to visit Gala because we wanna see the snow, we dont plan to skiing tho.
