Set beside Botswana’s mesmerising salt pans, Nata Lodge is on the way to everywhere.
A convenient road trip break, Nata Lodge is beloved by campers, glampers, and self-drive adventurers for its great food, cold beer, assortment of affordable and well-maintained accommodations, and easy access to the best salt pan sunset - your overnight oasis awaits!
Also. Did we mention the cold beer? And the swimming pool? And the flamingoes? And the bushbabies?
The Makgadikgadi Salt Pans exude a feeling of antiquity and mystery that has enticed explorers for decades.
    LUXURY WOODEN CHALETS
Sanctuary after a long day on the road. Set on stilts below swishing palms, there are 22 spacious en-suite chalets with a ball-and-claw bath, romantic outdoor shower, air-conditioning and hair dryers. Available in twin or double configurations, all beds are draped in mosquito nets and lead to an outdoor porch.
    SAFARI GLAMPING TENTS
10 big luxury safari tents dot our beautiful grounds nestled between majestic marula trees and termite mounds. Each glamping unit is electrified and equipped with a tea station and comfortable en-suite bathrooms open to an outdoor shower. There is also a shared braai stand facility.
    LUXURY WOODEN CHALET FAMILY ROOMS
Featuring fun bunk beds, natural light floods the wooden cabins each morning. There is a wheelchair-friendly accessible unit too.
    CAMPSITE
With heaps of shade, 24/7 security, spotless ablutions with hot water showers and a washing-up stand, there’s plenty of time to unwind at the poolside instead of working around the campsite.
Bird watchers simply love our lodge and can see plenty of species from the comfort of the pool deck, bar or breakfast table. We often enjoy visits from Southern yellow-billed hornbills, pied and arrow-marked babblers, glossy starlings and paradise whydahs.
Birder or not, the number one thing to do in Nata is to visit the Nata Bird Sanctuary. Nata Lodge offers daily three-hour sunset drives in open game drive vehicles to support the community-run reserve. Most famous for its thriving flamingo population, the sanctuary is set in the mighty Makgadikgadi Salt Pan network with quality wildlife sightings over and above the 165 bird species recorded here.
Zebra, wildebeest, black-backed jackals and bat-eared foxes all roam freely. Sometimes hippos can be spotted too, when enough water fills the pans. Wet or dry, these salt pans are always a spectacle! In the summer rainy season, visitors can expect to see Sua Pan inundated when fed by the Nata River in the east. During the dry winter, the water evaporates, leaving an arid ivory expanse that reaches the horizon.
