the welding looks like the shroud is full of spatter , theres not much gas clearance on smaller/hobby welders so a few bits of spatter will foul up the gas flow . a good tip would be check your shroud is clean and your tip is clean before you start a weld , turn your wire speed down a touch aswell your using to much wire just go for a spot weld not a full weld or stitch weld and you wont get the raised weld like a slug, the primer wont help for a good weld either , i would buy a can of anti-spatter and apply a dusting on the areas before you start as it helps a lot and makes cleaning easier by simply using a small decorating scraper ...check your gas is flowing by holding the torch by your ear aswell but always point the wire away from your head when pressing the trigger so it does not stab you . oh and always start a weld with a cleanly cut wire by using a pair of side cutting pliers . and you will get the pest finish every time mate . i use flux wire on my mig at home its much easier and requires no gas to weld with so its less hassle on smaller jobs .
Well done again Adam, these videos give us DIY'ers plenty of inspiration and incentive to tackle many jobs we hate or put off. Happy St.Patrick's day from Dublin. CheeRS
Raptor is not the right thing to put on the bottom of a car especially on top of old stone chip/sealer, raptor is a hard none flexable coating originally made for truck beds if theres any movement underneath it will crack a peal off, Gravitex is the correct product to use for this job.
I have used raptor on the underside of three cars mate. Rx7 s14 and s13 . For three years nothing has chipped and came off. It’s exactly the right product
@@stevemassari8339 guess you haven't read the manufacturers instructions, says you must not apply over seam sealer raptor is a hard none flexible finish so any movement of the substrate can cause it to crack and peal, upol gravitex is the correct product to use as it's a flexible coating.
5:25 my Mrs may ask why I'm rubbing my main sausage on a bit metal 😂 For rust treatment, try bilt hamber next time UK company and their product's are 2nd to none imo
Wee tip for shaking your cans mate. Drill a hole in old aerosol lids and stick in a nut and bolt. Stick them in your drill. Iv maybe got about 4 lids that fit all aerosols. Saves all that shaking 😂. Drill….2 secs, done Also, im a painter. We use raptor on all sorts of stuff. Its especially good for like bed liners and recovery wagon beds, nice tough stuff. Gives a nice rippled finish 👌🏻. A wee suggestion aswel mate. Get yourself some sikaflex. You can used it in all the seams and over weld lines etc before painting. (Like painters mate) It gives a manufacture finish and gives you many years protection. Just for when you do it next year mate. 👍🏻
I'd be gutted moving and leaving that garage behind, you've put so much time and effort into it mate. Funny when you mentioned your Bait early in the video. I'm originally from a little bit further north than you and moved to the West coast of Scotland 31 years ago, when I mentioned to the good lady many moons ago that I need to take some bait to work, she thought I was going fishing 🤣
Id recommend you look at ce chem sprayable sealers way better for impact protection from small stones. I done the full underside of my evo v in raptor and the bed of my hilux. The hilux bed still looks fresh after 3 years of abuse but I think it’s too hard for small stones chipping away at it and it starts to come off. Have a look at redish motorsport underside restorations he has a great video of sprayable sealers.
Hi Adam, see you are using cure rust to neutralise the rust. I personally prefer Jenolite to do this as the phosphoric acid in the product seems to be more effective in doing a permanent fix. Good luck with the move and hopefully everything goes smoothly.
Another fantastic video Adam. You're doing a great job on the escort, definitely get it out and about for the summer. I just used stonechip under my Manta 400 and i regret now not using Raptor. Next winters project sorted. Hope you get sorted with a garage, thats a lovely man cave you have at the moment it'll be hard leave it!!
On the angle grinder, I held a piece of metal.inbetween my legs, grinder slipped, stuck 2, 2 inches, gashes in both legs, 2 mm away from an artery. I'm lucky with 15 stitches and an awesome pair of scars.
Gutted for ya thats a dream garage for sure! Can you do a video of why your moving if yoy dont mind a lot of us feel heavily invested in the car builds and garage build so were devestated for ya to leave it behind ☹️
Adam what air compressor you got in your garage pal? Could you show us and do a bit of a review? I want to buy one with a view to painting stuff but can’t find no useful UK videos
Your welding will only improve over time... there's wire speed, wire thickness, heat range etc.... I like that you do it properly, going back to metal and then protecting the metal... Best of luck with the move and the rest of the car's back end rebuild......
Absolutely get it back on the road and use it there must be hundreds of restoration projects in barns and garages all over the world with the owners too old ill or passed away. The restoration can wait until it's falling to pieces it will always be worth doing properly eventually I would carry on the way you have started just so I could enjoy it and show it off.
That flap is to protect from Welsh Attack Rats from entering the car. They get you while you're driving the car - the first bite paralyses, the second, well you'll be dead before you hit the wall.. (even crazier during Rugby season apparrantely)
Great work Adam, surely that’ll last a few years now? Use and enjoy the car! Where are you moving to? Are you renting a unit to continue with your TH-cam channel?
Wow looks amazing mate well done r proper job that 👍🏽can’t believe your moving after doing the garage that is perfect for your 2 cars and you got lift in there too well good luck mate with the move I presume you have your reasons for moving big house 👍🏽👍🏽
mmm going by the looks of the other person doing it it looks like they just applied it over dirt and dust making it not stick, but tbh for the age it's ntb rust and rot wise, but truth be told most people don't really look after the under part of a car they just drive it and leave it for the next owner to do and also a dead give away that they don't really know how to maintain a car lol :) reminds me of my old mums car the color :) but they don't half look good in gray though
Mig should always be done 'downhand', ie. the pool should be horizonal under gravity. You can weld "vertical" and it looks like the "stack of coins" but overhead MIG welding goes against all established MIG welding principles. I do get it though. I'm an ex mechanic that went on to spend a decade in a Lloyds approved fabrication company. Mechanics don't have the luxury of rotating the workpiece to achieve optimum weld conditions. Going from welding sills on Fiestas, Datsuns and Metros, to offshore standard fabrication, I learned the difference. I don't live far from Adam, he does ok for someone not in the trade.
Air release when you close a door or the bootlid, kind of works like a one way valve. You get a build up of air inside the car with nowhere to go otherwise.

I’m not jealous…much! Get out there and enjoy her when the sun comes! Cheers for the video Adam

Awesome work, Adam. Glad to see you used some rust converter.
Great work mate, where did you buy all the driveshaft stuff and the bolt kit for the rear axle please?

Great work Adam! I am doing so much welding on my classic mini on my channel…. Your garage and tool setup is amazing

stand the aerosol in warm water for a few minutes. shakes up easier and increases pressure of spray Adam.

Have a look into Bridge End Works Ryhope Village mate, they have a few blank units it might be worth giving them a call and enquiring.
Please please please make sure the new garage is secure..And if you can.. keep its location a secret when filming
Moving house? You just got the garage sorted for your car endeavours 🤔. You must have more space at the new abode. 😊👍.
Adam’s moving into Paul’s shed haha! He wouldn’t give this garage up unless another one is even bigger 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Must be a nice place your after with some land to give up your current place, best of luck mate,

sit your paint cans in hot tap water for 10 mins..makes it way easier to spray.

Hahaha like the main sausage theory Adam. You crack me up sometimes pal 😂
