The reality is that it's VERY hard to spread a virus in outdoor open air, especially when people are moving around (marching in protest) and especially when masked.
In contrast to enclosed, recycled air like you have in a church, bar, indoor sporting event, concert, Tulsa Rally in an enclosed arena with people crammed together even though the arena was 3/4 empty, etc... emphasis being on the indoor part.
While I am sure that a few (statistically) got infected at the protests, it's a much lower number than were infected at indoor events in the, mainly republican, states that reopened commerce early and had packed bars, with no distancing, indoors, without masks (like AZ were I live)
