Great to see you using a ruler, it speeds up the process. Rulers are better than tape measures because no one picks up ruler & walks a way with it in their pocket.
Just recently bought my first LPVO. It’s a Primary Arms “Special Purchase” 1-6 SFP ACSS Aurora reticle. This video will help a lot when I mount and zero it. Thanks!
Great content. I always get something out of your instructional videos, even if its something i "already know" Just gotta keep it humble and be ready to learn.
I just keep my lpvo at 4Xmag so I can be just like a mil dude. Working with sub par equipment is the military way. To hell with the extra functionality.
@@doms.6701I'm 44 years old I've been shooting since I was like 9 or 10 years old and less than an hour ago I ordered my very first battery powered optic for one of my ar-15. I've been running iron sights on everything. All my life. And I'll tell you you get good with something eventually I mean it's kind of hard not to. I'm interested in seeing what this lpvo scope is going to do for me. 🤷
I hope people understand that MIL scopes do NOT require use of the metric system. It couldn't be easier, one click (0.1 MIL) equals 1/10,000th of the distance you're shooting. 100 yards? Easy, that's 300 feet, 3600 inches, so 0.1 MIL click is 0.36 inches -- very close to 1/3 inch.
I wish I'd learned Mils before I bought a scope in MOA. I figured MOA was easier to use, but that's only because I am comfortable with yards, feet, etc. Now that I'm starting to understand mils, it makes so much more sense for shooting.
My own way of zeroing was just dragging my scope reticle from point of aim to point of impact after one shot using the turret adjustment then after that I'll go back to shoot again at point of aim and that's it you don't need more adjustment and ammo for zeroing. then remove the turret and put it back to zero so you don't need to worry if someone turn it left and right or up and down.
There were only Irons when I served in the Corps. I just recently learned about All of these optics. So, I got a Swampfox Arrowhead. I felt like a caveman discovering 🔥 fire. Thank you for the clear instructional video. It helped alot.❤
Thanks for actually learning new tech. I served in OIF and my father was ranger back in the day. Dude refuses to learn optics aside from a 3-9 red field that he used way back in his day
As I've only ever worked with MOA adjustments, it was nice to learn about 0.1 MIL adjustments. It was worth the Google and I learned something new today.
I put the gun in the lead sled. Shoot 3-5 shots, then look through the scope as I turn my adjustments. I turn them both until they are in the middle of the shot group. Did this for my friends brand new .308 and had it zeroed in 5 shots without measuring MOA or MILs.
It’s not something specific to that optic, it’s every optic! You can get behind your optic and slightly move your head back and forth, up and down, you’ll notice the reticle actually “moving” around slightly.. it really makes a difference at longer ranges.. it all comes down to consistency, placing your head in the same position every shot. He’s teaching good info here! 👊🏻🇺🇸
Great video. Waiting for my first LPVO to get here for my PWS MK114 Mod2M. Got to the Primary Arms PLXc Nova 1-8 with a badger ordinance 1.7” mount. Cant wait to run it. Also gotta zero my EXPS3 on the MK111 and then run them in classes and range days
Best video I have saw so far. Thanks guys for explaining it to were I could understand it. I just got a primary arms lpvo 1/6/24 gen 3. Going to try an zero it today..
This video helped me more than you know. You kept it stupid simple smart and easy. Love how you suggested the ruler I would have never thought about that. Again to can’t thank you enough 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
I bought a Steiner M8Xi 1-8X LPVO it has beautiful exposed Mil turrets, with a nice Mil reticle. This was my first scope for getting in to AR’s. I can’t wait to go and zero it in.
I couldn't figure out which optic I wanted to buy today. So less than an hour ago I decided on the monstrum banshee SFP LPVO. 1-10x24. I was going to go with a red dot but I wanted something that had zoom capability. And it seems as though the LPVO Scopes are really really big right now and I haven't heard anything bad about them so I figured why not? Now mind you I've never even used a battery powered optic on a single firearm in my life. I have loads of guns but it's all iron sights with everything. The only Scopes I have are on my hunting rifles and my competitive rifles. Nothing's battery powered. This is going to be interesting for me. I do appreciate the video. You have gotten my subscription with this one. Keep up the excellent work!
I prefer to adjust the adjust the ocular to flatten the fishbowl and bring it as close to a true 1x as possible even if it means the reticle isn't as sharp as possible.
Irmi! 💪.. My life is better becuase of Imri! And the TR group 🇺🇸.. Plus it's hilarious Imri can pick myself out from a bunch of questions without knowing its me asking a question just by my way of writing something out or my way of adding my dark humourous way of doing things 😆😂😆😂
Yes, but you can only pick one. If you pick where it crosses the rising branch, the crossing of the falling branch will depend on you bullet’s trajectory. It is always better to zero as far out as possible; so I prefer to zero the falling branch when using a “Point Blank Zero.” (Mostly red dots). Here though, because it has a MIL reticle, I chose to zero at 100 meters. Thanks for watching, TR
I'm running an MRO with a 3X on one build but plan on swapping that to my shorter barrel and getting an LPVO for my 16" rifle. I've been trying to decide between PA or Vortex, both seem great. Any input is always welcome. Thing is, the only place around is an indoor range (outdoor ranges are all private clubs) The max distance is 50 yards I believe. Does anybody have suggestions on some targets to buy that adjust for the shorter ranges so I can zero to 150, 200, or further? We had them in the military but I haven't looked much as a civilian. I'd like to assume reliability isn't a concern since 1" is 1"... but I'm a welder and fabricator, I've seen tapes and shit where 1" doesn't start at 1". So that's why I'm asking.
I prefer the reticles offered by PA over Vortex. Hunt locally online, and you'll find outdoor ranges out to 200 to 400 meters easy. They may be a couple hours away, but make a day of it, as you don't have to zero too often. Thanks for watching, TR
@@TacticalRifleman outstanding, I appreciate the response and input on the optics. There are indeed a few ranges within 2 hours of me, I'll check them out. Awesome channel, keep up the great service!
No, you have to shoot a grouping to see where all the bullets are landing. There’s a lot of variables between the shooter the rifle the bullet and the wind so 1 bullet isn’t a good representation
I noticed in the beginning of your video, which was excellent by the way that you turn the power all the way up did you turn the power all the way down and re-check zero or does that matter when I zeroed my LP video I put it on the power that I thought I would typically use which was about five and made the zero there is does that make a significant difference as far as where you have the power? Thanks for any response
No. The crossbar or middle of the reticle should be on at any magnification. What you are worried about is if you're using a second focal plane scope all the secondary hash marks, ballistic drop marks etc are only accurate on the power you zeroed at and/or max zoom whichever the scope requires.
I believe this scope is FFP so there shouldn't be a zero shift during magnification change but there could be some with a SFP scope; if you zero at the highest power you are going to use you shouldn't notice a problem a 1x at closer range; the magnitude depends on the quality of the scope and I believe it gets worse the farther from the center of you need to adjust the scope to zero.
I recommend the one that is correct for you… Does your brain think in Inches/yards or centimeters/meters? If you are a yards guy, stick with MOA. If you live in meters, go with MILs.
Nope. You should be zeroing at the further of the two branches. The military zeroes on the rising branch only because EVERY military base has a 25 meter range. Not all installations have 300 meter rifle ranges.
I am a new shooter and was wondering why i was never hitting my target LOL. Didnt even know what zeroing was, thank you for this video!
Well done!

Great info but I have one question. What 45 degree I ons are those on that rifle?
Thanks Karl
The bullet rises and drops below line of sight anywhere you want it. The bullet immediately begins to fall when it leaves the barrel.

@@TacticalRifleman true. Most red dots are for mid range to CQB. 100meter/yards is my choice.

why are you going opposite from what you missed as? do you not chase the shot with scope or does scope move backwards from what you put in?
Didn't wanna outline that first group together? 😅
Yeah, I did my BDC LPVO wrong 🤣🤣🤣 Time to find a range with 100yd so I can properly Zero again.

All the way in.

I have the same scope. If I was zeroing at 50 meters , would it be half a centimeter for measurements?
.1mil scopes would adjust half centimeter at 50 meters

Using a BDC from primary Arms, will my 1.93 mount mess with my BDC? It's also a mil scope
Slightly, but not too bad. That’s why you zero further out with it. In close, the taller mount would screw it for sure
Thank you for the video. I have a question for you. Do you recommend one over the other? MIL or MOA? Thank you in advace.
I recommend the one that is correct for you…
Does your brain think in Inches/yards or centimeters/meters?
If you are a yards guy, stick with MOA. If you live in meters, go with MILs.
What is a 100 meter yard line? 100 yards is 91.44 meters so they are not the same.
What if it is a first or second focal plain? Anything different at different zoom settings?
Zero on max magnification. It wont matter which plane the reticle is on.
Do you still have to check if that's the first or the second time the flight path is crossing the sight line?
Nope. You should be zeroing at the further of the two branches. The military zeroes on the rising branch only because EVERY military base has a 25 meter range. Not all installations have 300 meter rifle ranges.
It’s always easier when Carl is being your range bitch. 🤣🙏🏻❤️🇺🇸
Dont trade shots with Imri, at 100 yards he can shoot your heart out. lol great shooting .
7:39 Poor guy,,, lol,, 7+ mins before finally shooting, hahahaha
So if you use a SFP LPVO do you have to be at max magnification to get the correct zero?
No, but your reticle holds (if you use them) will be off whenever you are not on max magnification
What Ballistic Calculator or app do you recommend?
Applied Ballistics
@@TacticalRifleman thank you sir!
