Yeah and if he were not to become independent, he'd probably be on the same level as Eminem in terms of popularity in the general public. And the two are already at the same level in terms of skill
Hate to tell you he did sell his soul he won't make that kind of money if you didn't Satan owns all the money. You either bow down to Lucifer or you ain't coming on the airwaves point blank period. All the cattle on the thousand Hills is God's. Just because he's not signed to a major record label doesn't mean he didn't sell his soul. Hey Justin, I just wanted to compliment you on what was a very smart, well structured and eloquent analysis. We need more commentators like you weighing in on rap/music matters. You've got yourself another subscriber.

been listening to tech since 2000... I was 13 and got to watch an amazing story from damn near the beginning. he IS the GOAT, he just refused(s) to sell his soul. THAT makes him even greater than any of your GOATs. built an empire from nothing without the industry.

immortal technique is a lyrical beast on some real shit but as far as wordplay metaphor similes flow tech and shady are crazier ...but everyone has their favorite
》 VENGEANCE 《 you gotta here his older shit. His metaphors are dirty like herpes but harder to catch. Flow, i can agree with. Tech nine has a more melodical flow, while technique has more of a battle rap style flow. Theyre both good in their own respect
Em would never dare to do a dis track, or speak ill of Tech...both rap gods; but have the mutual respect...but yeah, Tech's the GOAT. Gonna go see him again in oct... aaaaand Tech N9ne>Eminem

My thoughts exactly. It's because he's indie and isn't saturated into talkshows and tabloids etc. Let's be talk real. When a grandma knows an artist, It's not because of their music. It's because they're in mainstream media. Usually sit that has nothing to do with music, but reality-tv type shit.
+Another Made Up Internet Subculture I don't think he intends to emulate traditional tribal designs, more so to honor the tradition but add his own spin on it
He is the GOAT. period. dot. period. He'll slaughter anyone you put in front of him. Transcendence isn't his issue. Bad taste in the world at large is the problem. There may be slightly faster rappers, but Nobody can ride a beat like Tech. Nobody can write their life in blood like Tech. His hype-man (Krizz Kaliko) will destroy your favorite rapper. He has more talent on his label than all of mainstream rap combined. F.T.I. Together we are a powerful force, As one mind, body and soul. Sorry but krayzie bone would murder any artist in strange music on a track including tech n9ne. Tech n9ne is good but too predictable . his flow is literally the same in almost every song with a few bars of rhymes then throwing "cha" in at the end then rinse and repeat. In my opinion he is good but not the goat
@@AfterLyfe812 krayzie bone really,he couldn't murder tech back when krayzie was relevant,he had a chance to show he was a better rapper in midwest choppers, who's verse was better....techs by far, people in this world are sleeping on tech because they don't know what truly great music is,their loss, long live the GOAT tech n9ne, forever may he reign
TECH N9ne is a smart guy. you even shown him rapping backwards. I've never seen that done before. He is very smart and can rap faster than most but I think the way he presented himself physically and presented his albums made him appeal the a much different crowd of people but needless to say he isn't done and will be the G.O.A.T. with given time. he isn't done yet. I remember hearing his music when I was stationed in Japan and was blown away by how fast he rapped plus he's witty. I was listening to the Carabu lue album.

It's pretty simple for me... I have mad respect for Tech n9ne. Dude has mad skills. But it is a whole different genre within Hip Hop and black folks don't really like this subgenre. You can't force people to listen to your music simply because you are black, But I still listen to some of his songs, though! '
Tech is the GOAT. I think you’re 100% right. The youth both in and outside the black community are getting lied to by sell outs like JayZ and those other clowns while Tech N9ne refuses to do it. I think he could destroy every one of the “Supetstars” at their own style without batting an eye. He can put the bass in his songs and get people to dance and sing, Special Effects, proves it, but what’s it worth if a man gains the world and loses his soul? He’s got a real message so the industry makes sure he doesn’t get the props he deserves. Don’t sleep on Tech, Strange Music is just getting started!!!
Slade Wilson Sell out lol, if any one of these rappers were given the opportunity to work with producers like Dre they would jump at it.. the reason they don’t get the chance is because they’re just not that good.. Eminem isn’t just the best rapper of all time, skill wise, fuck the content and skin colour, pure ability, pisses all over everyone that’s ever stepped in a booth, he’s also one of the best selling music artists ever, no matter the genre.. plenty of decent rappers out there who will never be that big because instead of pushing harder to get a deal they go independent and that ultimately damages their chances of making it big time, the people at the top are there for a reason, they’re the best, and by going independent you lose that opportunity of working with them day in day out long term... of course his “crazy white boy” character is exaggerated, one of his biggest ever songs, stan, is about exactly that.. you think he woulda got this big without working with top producers? No way, he would either have been nothing at all or had some little hardcore following, look at the music he’s produced himself, it’s not that good, his best music is produced by other people, tech n9ne will never be anywhere near big as long as he does his own thing, just like immortal technique and many others and immortal technique uses that exact same excuse “I won’t be a sell out” no! You just never got given the opportunity because you’re not as good as your little following says you are.. it’s too late for tech n9ne now, he is a decent rapper no doubt, but the quality of his music would have been a million times better than what it is if he hadn’t gone his own way, his choice though, and he seems like a pretty humble guy, he ain’t fussed, he’s making enough money, got his fans, he’s cool with it, just can’t be calling a dude a sell out when your man tech n9ne wanks over him in interviews 👍
Fame is a poor metric for determining the goat. I know of rappers that fucking slay and most wouldn't know who the fuck they were for one reason or another. Just remember vanilla ice would pass the grandma test.
But you got to give props to the Iceman because he pioneered the way for white boy rap. I mean I know the Beastie Boys were already around but that wasn't quite the same because they did a lot of hollering and Scratchy singing in their music even though it was still good.
From Rap styles to lyrics .. Tech has it all... he's humble, loves his fans, true to his crew.. Mad respect. I've known him since he started and watching grow makes me feel really proud. First time I saw him was at Rock the Bells and after his show he walked in the crowed taking pictures. I took one with him. No other artist does that!
Tech is DEFINITELY one of the greatest rappers alive and im ALWAYS wondering why he isnt bigger..like ill play tech for some of my friends that only listen to like Young thug and all that and theyll freaking love it...i just really want tech to get more out there publicly cuz he definitely deserves it
Tech N9ne and Lecrae have a lot in common in regards to music success. They both run very successful indie labels, they both have sold out countless shows, and they both have sold millions of records. Yet, they both run into the same problem of not getting enough respect from the music industry. Any comments?
I had friends in school that were huge metal heads. And they all loved Tech N9ne. Including me. He’s the only artist or band I’ve seen 4 times. Great shows every time.
I met Tech in 08 (I've listened to him for longer than most folks) and told him about K-Rino. He has never even heard of the South Park Coalition. I talk to him about Houston's rap scene with SPC and Rap-A-Lot being the first. They could really do some cool songs together. Hell have him on a choppper track with all the other folks that rap fast.
Tech N9ne is my personal favourite rapper. To me the reason he can't be considered the greatest, is merely because the "greatest" comes down to popular opinion. That's why Tupac and Biggie are considered to be two of the greatest, because the sheer number of people that agree with that opinion is high. Same with Kendrick being considered the greatest alive. I don't like Kendrick all that much, but because he is commonly cited as the greatest alive, I can't deny that. i don't have to change my opinion, it is what it is.
Listened to him since I was a kid. 32 with a child now. His music has grown with him, and gotten just fucking better. The writing, the feels of the music, just everything he and Strange have honed into a mastered craft. Kaliko is right there with him. Plenty of black and white folks at every Denver show I've ever been too. One of the only rap shows I've been to that can have mosh pits.
Being the most well-known or widely accepted rapper of all time is not the same as being the greatest rapper of all time. With his continuous ability to release quality music, his amazing multi-syllable rhymes, and the depth of his story-telling, no one compares.
+Kunle Onafowora that's because his music isn't about pulling up to the club in his expensive cars, throwin money and gettin bitches then goin back to the trap. Even the mainstream artists who do make a few real, heart-felt tracks and put them on an album know they won't sell. That's why the last time a full hip hip album went platinum was OutKast in 2003. Now, thanks to iTunes, only individual tracks go platinum and the only ones doing that are about money, cars, clothes and hoes. ¡Mayday! said it best "Even though they listen they don't never really hear us. Their condition is conditioned yeah they love the smoke n mirrors"
I'm one of those. I was trying to check out Tech 9 over a decade ago. I saw that Junk Yard Dog and Kamala face paint and was like nah. And the music seemed so dark that I tuned out. But recently, I came across a collaboration where Tech's lyricism killed and I started checking out more of his recent work. The man can rap! And yeah, he needs to cross back over to be the GOAT 🐐!
Tech 9 is the smoothest, fast flow rapper that is still as sharp and relevant to the culture. I’ve been a long time fan of Busta Rhymes and he did a performance recently at the Grammys but his diction wasn’t as sharp because of breath control. Tech 9 spits the fastest flows , with immaculate breathing technique. His rhymes flow like butter. Respect 👊🏿
I'd say it's because He creeps people out. I've listened to Tech for 18 years now and as other comments have said, _He is my personal greatest rapper of all time._ There are multitudes of artists out there with fantastic lyrics and messages but their method of delivery pushes the "average consumer" away. Take Brian Warner a.k.a Marilyn Manson for example, who started his music career in the late 80's. He has 10+ albums, has been in movies and tv shows, has his own brand of alcohol, tours constantly, basically everyone knows his name and yet... only his niche hardcore audience listen to him as more than a passing commodity. Similar to Tech. The same goes for artists like Tool, and Tori Amos. Their lyrics and stage presence are "strange", and the average consumer doesn't care much for strange... Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing people for enjoying straightforward lyrics and performances. I'm just saying that while "strange" fans can generally enjoy both strange and normal artists, normal fans tend to be unable to enjoy strange artists.
aside from Tech's rapping/ music making abilities, this dude gave other artists careers. not to mention if "your" fav rapper went against anyone else off the label like Krizz, Rittz, Ces Cru and even Mayday etc..still wouldnt stand a chance..on another note there are fans that like the lyrical side of hiphop and those who like the "pop" side of it..crossing between the two is hard to do without pissing anyone off so Tech is def. carved out into the lyrical side of it. But overall im just glad mfs on here are listening to this side of hiphop and not any of this kodak black, young thug, future, drake bullshit
The transcendence and record sales argument is problematic for a few reasons, and I say this respectfully. Let's look at rappers like Drake. So, Drake for example actually surpassed The Beatles for most top 10 Billboard songs in a year. Ok, great. He won't be as legendary as the Beatles and will never be as impactful. Does that makes him "better" or more influential as an artist (let's forget about genre for a second concerning the latter). He'll never be in the Top 5 of greatest rappers. I don't care how many records he sells. He's a pawn in today's music industry of auto-tuned bliss. The fact that Tech N9ne reaches a wider audience (white and mildly black folks) to me makes him better than any rapper today. He's been killing it for almost 20 years and has been doing so like no other rapper ever has. To me, the fact that Tech reaches a white audience (even a metalhead audience) IS WHY the black community doesn't embrace him. It's a race thing, and I'm sorry but Hip Hop is fundamentally black music, so because Tech N9ne openly throws in rock influence in his music or samples white artists, he's seen as trespassing. Also, when white dudes step up, they're not embraced as warmly, even in today's manufactured, plastic industry. Sure, Eminem was embraced, but he had Dre actually promote him and was at his side, hyped up as a white dude who could murder a beat like nobody ever has, and nobody messed with Em because he ripped any rapper apart in dis track after dis track. You can watch the videos about this. Nobody messes with him. Now, if you pay attention, lots of folks in the black community just like you heard in the clip of Black Walt, Tech N9ne is accused of selling out or "doing it for the white folk." ("Come Gangsta" anybody?) That's bullshit. Tech N9ne is just more eclectic and less biased than most rappers and always had an interest in rock music. He named his record label after The Doors! The problem with not at least considering Tech N9ne as a Top 5 is people ignore his impact and marketability. Every time I introduce his music to people (all walks of life), they like it. There's always a "Wow "or a remark of how sick he flows and the beats are always hard. The fact that Tech N9ne is running one of the most successful independent record labels in music history should help convince people he deserves a Top 5 spot. It's a shame really that Tech N9ne isn't more well-known, but at the same time, he's doing his own thing and staying true to Strange Music. He's not depending on big music labels to promote him, and they won't anyway simply because he IS Strange Music. Look what he's doing for all the young talent on his record label. Hell, I think Krizz Kaliko, (the other half of the sickest duo in Hip Hop today) is better than most rappers. Actually, Kaliko is incredible too. He sings better than most. It's almost criminal that artists like Tech and Kaliko aren't more known, but at the same time, it makes sense in today's market, possibly the worst decade of music all around. Also, race will always be an issue with artists like Tech N9ne. He's better because he transcends genres and while he wants to "reach his people" he down with everybody and reaches everyone willing to listen. This makes him more creative and authentic at the same time because he makes music like no other rapper ever has. I'll say he's one of the GOATs. I can't put him above Tupac because nobody will be IMO, but he's up there in my Top 5. Technician, I am. -Peace
most, not all, but most of his music is highly regarded by ppl who aren't really into rap/hip hop. His fans are mostly the alternative crowd. you can't be the goat in hip hop if the majority of hip hop fans don't fuck with you. point blank...
+Dice562 What have you heard so far and what other kinda artists are you into? I might be able to help point you in the right direction. Tech is super dope and has a large catalog full of different sounds that anybody can appreciate if they really give it a listen.
Yes you can be the GOAT and not have all of hip hop behind you. The average person is not smart or insightful. Therefore, the majority of music fans in general are ignorant, have cheesy taste, and prefer to listen to shit that doesn't require thinking. They want entertainment on a shallow, surface level type of way. So artists who are also ignorant, cheesy, and shallow, will be catapulted to the top. There are very few "top tier" hip hop artists right now who are actually talented and can really spit. Don't even try to deny that shit. Basically, if the majority doesn't fuck with you, then you're most likely doing something different and interesting.
^ Truth. While everyone wants to listen to artists like Future, Drake, Lil Uzi, Lil Yachty, Young Thug, etc., none of them will ever have the title of the GOAT. No matter how much you enjoy them, there's no way that (skill wise), they can be the greatest ever.
I got into Hip Hop last year, mostly listening to Eminem, Biggie, Pac, and Kanye, but I remember I heard Rap God for the first time and I was like “Damn!!! He got any more fast songs?” So I looked it up and found Speedom, with some gun dude and Krizz something, and then I looked into them more and that’s how I discovered Tech and Krizz. They are AMAZING, and Tech is just so underrated... and then I heard WWC... was introduced to Twista, Busta Rhymes, Twisted Insane, and Yelawolf. Tech deals with MC’s he’s putting people under their radar, 🐐.
the reason he cant be goat all comes down to the music. all of his respect and fan base comes from his grind & ability to be a technical rapper. thats it. hes never been a hitmaker and doesnt have too much classics on his hands. great rapper & legend in the game but never made music good enough to be called goat. im a big fan by the way
Doesnt have too much classics? Einstein, The Ring, Caribou Lou, Now its on, Im a Playa, The Chopper Series, Fragile, See Me, SOTG, The Cyphers, Hood Go Crazy, Speedom, Mental Giant, Mama Nem etc. I could name 50+ tracks...
+berryindahouse c'mon man you just named his fan favorites. a classic song or album/project is something that makes a huge impact on the culture and stays in rotation for generations to come. tech's been doing this for a long time and none of those tracks are as praised as anything from the usual candidates for goat titles
+DC DaDon just because those tracks aren't as "popular" does not mean they aren't classics. That's the whole point of this video, many of techs songs are more than good enough to have been classics and change the culture, but not enough ppl are listening in man. Think about it.
+lordhellsfire nah I disagree he's already done more than enough to catapult his music to the popularity you need to be considered classic. I mean hood go crazy is his first huge radio hit. He already has the ears man just doesn't keep em because of the music
people listen to tech because we realize talent not because of how street and tough he is and how he relates to a black audience we listen because hes unmatchable hes easily one of the top 5 best lyrical rappers of all time no denying
I’m just saying I agree with this video but if you look at it Barry Sanders is one of the GOAT running backs in NFL and he never won a ring isn’t that kinda the same thing? Tech may never break through the industry but he is one of the greatest lyricist to ever do it. Just my opinion though
tech n9ne is hands down the best "rapper" of all time. artist is a different discussion, i think wayne is a close second to tech as far as bar for bar rhyming words and creating flows
there is no GOAT. I mean, i don't like mumble rap like future and what not, but the sales numbers and packed venues speak for themselves. it's too subjective to have a "greatest" when it's more about favourites
Nas said it on ether " Ain't no best ". It comes down to what you like. I like em because of his psycho shit in his early days and how he not afraid to try different shit. He is the most versatile rapper out and the problem with some people is that they can't accept change.

lyrically? a lot of rappers... But his Flow? well not so many rappers
immortal technique
immortal technique is a lyrical beast on some real shit but as far as wordplay metaphor similes flow tech and shady are crazier ...but everyone has their favorite
》 VENGEANCE 《 you gotta here his older shit. His metaphors are dirty like herpes but harder to catch. Flow, i can agree with. Tech nine has a more melodical flow, while technique has more of a battle rap style flow. Theyre both good in their own respect
I think Tech is still Eminem status, no one would challenge him in the studio
Definitely. Em is my number 1, but tech fo sho is top 5.
More people would of heard of eminem
Em would never dare to do a dis track, or speak ill of Tech...both rap gods; but have the mutual respect...but yeah, Tech's the GOAT. Gonna go see him again in oct... aaaaand Tech N9ne>Eminem

Tech n9ne is the best rapper when it comes to skill.
Don't forget live shows
Hahaha, not even in the same stratosphere as the best when it comes to skill.
i disagree, even tech says eminem is the best. but everyone knows, immortal tech is the goat

Yup. Nas is dope too, been listening to him since 94

I saw a Tech concert on MTV in like 2012, and I've been hooked ever since.
TECH N9NE IS STILL SO UNDERATED ITS SAD
So your grandma just knows everyone in the mainstream because of record label promotion in the media

That's the whole point...
OHHHHHHH SNAAAAAAAP
Tech doesn't eat gefilte fish
wow really??? with spikes and face paint he's a sellout? African tribal men wore face paint... how is he selling out??? smh...
Jaime Rodriguez only few understand that he is very tribal
+Another Made Up Internet Subculture I don't think he intends to emulate traditional tribal designs, more so to honor the tradition but add his own spin on it
Another Made Up Internet Subculture Not entirely, depended on which tribe, superstition, culture, or ceremony.
his facepaint during Strictly Strange 2008 looked pretty tribal. But I get what you mean.
Hugo Sandoval well done you just called tech 9 stupid you dumb ass. Great generalisation.

Sorry but krayzie bone would murder any artist in strange music on a track including tech n9ne. I was listening to the Carabu lue album.
i say from what we have seen of his newest 3 songs he dropped. this next album is going to take him to whole other level

His grandma is the Triple OG of cool. My grandma hasn't heard of any of my favorite musicians.
It's pretty simple for me... I have mad respect for Tech n9ne. Dude has mad skills. But it is a whole different genre within Hip Hop and black folks don't really like this subgenre. he's one of them he been grinding forever
And with his collabs with Rock Musicians...he is bringing in people who normally think Rap isn't good.
Him and em can be a goat family
Slade Wilson Eminem brought rap to everyone a long time ago, he’s the only rapper that fans of all music genres will listen to no problem
@@mr_miyagi5003 Well Em did it by being a sell out. His whole "crazy white boy" shit is highly exaggerated, and so is his claim to killing careers.
What's the point of giving a rapper the goat status if he's not going to be remembered
I thought we agreed to not speak about Vanilla Ice
But you got to give props to the Iceman because he pioneered the way for white boy rap. I mean I know the Beastie Boys were already around but that wasn't quite the same because they did a lot of hollering and Scratchy singing in their music even though it was still good.
I think a massive factor in this is that, despite him actually being incredibly talented, a lot of people think his music is corny as shit.
That's cause his bars goes right over most people's heads.
@@spin9135 exactly, people miss so much but oh well.
From Rap styles to lyrics .. Tech has it all... he's humble, loves his fans, true to his crew.. Mad respect. I've known him since he started and watching grow makes me feel really proud.

Tech N9ne and Lecrae have a lot in common in regards to music success. They both run very successful indie labels, they both have sold out countless shows, and they both have sold millions of records. I met Tech in 08 (I've listened to him for longer than most folks) and told him about K-Rino. He has never even heard of the South Park Coalition. I talk to him about Houston's rap scene with SPC and Rap-A-Lot being the first. They could really do some cool songs together. Hell have him on a choppper track with all the other folks that rap fast.

nice work man! u did a lot of research and helped me know more about Yates! and i agree he can be the goat, i fuck with his music, much love
Thank you!
I don't like Kendrick all that much, but because he is commonly cited as the greatest alive, I can't deny that. i don't have to change my opinion, it is what it is.
true!!
That's a major reason we started the GOAT series. Thank you for that comment.
But his music never hit mainstream radio
Kunle Onafowora I mean, neither do any of the great jazz drummers. Doesn't mean the drummers on the radio are the greatest.
Kunle Onafowora That being said, though, Hood Go Crazy got a lot of radio play. At least around here.
I'm sorry, but anyone who makes an album like Everready cannot be the G.O.A.T.

Tech N9ne is the best of the Midwest n I have ALL his albums
I'm one of those. I was trying to check out Tech 9 over a decade ago. I saw that Junk Yard Dog and Kamala face paint and was like nah. And the music seemed so dark that I tuned out.
But recently, I came across a collaboration where Tech's lyricism killed and I started checking out more of his recent work. The man can rap! And yeah, he needs to cross back over to be the GOAT 🐐!
He is the G.O.A.T period.

Tech n9ne, krizz kaliko, rittz all pure fire.
Theyr not in the strange music label but Merkules and Hopsin both also great rappers
Yes,truth all day.
Tech N9ne, Krizz Kaliko, Rittz, Ces Cru, Mayday, Stevie Stone, Prozak, Murs. This is a volcano
Thank god for Stange music inc, never will mumble trash polute my cranium.
I would add Primus to your list. Not many people know who Les Claypool is, but every bassist worth his salt knows him.
aside from Tech's rapping/ music making abilities, this dude gave other artists careers. not to mention if "your" fav rapper went against anyone else off the label like Krizz, Rittz, Ces Cru and even Mayday etc..still wouldnt stand a chance..on another note there are fans that like the lyrical side of hiphop and those who like the "pop" side of it..crossing between the two is hard to do without pissing anyone off so Tech is def. carved out into the lyrical side of it. But overall im just glad mfs on here are listening to this side of hiphop and not any of this kodak black, young thug, future, drake bullshit
You brought up issues, you deconstructed it fairly and brought out good points. I cant refuse to sub. Good channel bro keep it up
The transcendence and record sales argument is problematic for a few reasons, and I say this respectfully.
His fans are mostly the alternative crowd. you can't be the goat in hip hop if the majority of hip hop fans don't fuck with you. point blank...
more hip hop heads and fans are starting to like him tho
bluerangerx11 yeh, im tryin to get into him bcuz hes a dope ass lyricist, but the songs ive heard so far just aint doin it for me.
+DC DaDon he just named a couple classics ion agree with the new ones but he definitely named some classics
Honestly people are idiots for associating with race so hard.
i love tech. my favourite rapper is Slick Rick. he's never done a track with him unfortunately. great video
He connects with a large audience but not with the ones that matter

But if someone asks me who I think the GOAT of rap is, I will always say Tech N9ne.
He won’t sell his soul.
I’m just saying I agree with this video but if you look at it Barry Sanders is one of the GOAT running backs in NFL and he never won a ring isn’t that kinda the same thing? Tech may never break through the industry but he is one of the greatest lyricist to ever do it. Just my opinion though
I have never seen a rapper come out with so many good albums so consistently
tech n9ne is only for the open minded" REAL " people....

John Tha Vapster Yup Tech is in my top 5 but Krayzie is the GOAT for me.

He doesn't pass the grandma test because he doesn't shove himself down our throat. your only going to find him if you look for him usually.
Been looking at the comments for a lil bit... Y'all sleeping on MF DOOM, personal goat.
Great channel. Hip hop needs more of this.
there is no GOAT.
" Tech won't go mainstream. Mainstream will go Tech."
