    Redmans first three albums are fucking awesome. Classics. He's slept on by many. Heavy metaphors, great flow, wicked wordplay, punchlines, and humor in his raps. One of the GOATS.

      Agreed!! Unfortunately Redman himself, says that he doesn't like that album. I think because it has so many references to Hell and now that he's older and clearer in his thinking, he has regrets and shame about it.

    • @naapb.249

      I see you ride hard for Cole, but its all about consistency. Cole is coo but he isn't a standout like niggas like drake, I could give 2 fucks bout Drake but he's one of the biggest performers now so its hard to ignore him. if Cole does som then there's som to talk about

    him being my personal goat since he first dropped, it's so dope to see him getting his props. A lyrical beast, still as hungry as when he dropped his first verse. An out of this world character who could take away the mic from ANYONE and murder that person on the spot. And a cool ass dude, met him several times and got to DJ with him. He around 50 now and still going as strong as ever.

      Never understood how a breakout artist like method is so underrated. He became a star because of his acting chops and personality but dude is top 3 for me his entire flow and vernacular was his own. One of the best at metaphors better then class in my opinion. TICAL 2000 can still be bumped and has aged great. This nigga is hip hop royalty and this generation has no idea who he is. Sad that a channel like hip hopdx has never did anything on him

    The three pillars that shaped my rap perspective as a kid were Wu-tang, Boot Camp Clik, and Redman. And the fluidity of his rhyme style probably influenced my rapping more than anyone else. I mean, Dare Iz a Darkside was the first CD I owned, and I wore that sucker out. Wasn't as into him after Muddy Waters, but that was mostly because I didn't like the direction of his production. Still think lyric-wise he's just as sharp.

    • @hiphopdx

      That's the best thing about them. It's a constantly fluid conversation. hate it or love it, for example, going viral means something in this generation. What's the Curtis Blow equivalent? What good are standardized tests in art class?

    I may not agree either but I didn't know any of that sit about him .. On the real though MAC DRE should be considered.. In all essence He did so much in the early years and his music is still loved today maybe even more than before.. there's so much to consider when talkin about Andre Hicks because of the hardship he went through and prevailed.! To me he threw jabs during his conviction but still kept a positive attitude and it showed through his music.. All the years, collaborations, solos, beat creation, artistic sampling (giving credit to said artist or some kind of tribute), artist signed to label created by him in those times and still was making music.. I know Master P, said he wasn't out tryna be the best rapper but even as a business man doing business and still making people get up off their feet and dance wasn't something that he did for many years.. Dre made hits till the passed and continue to get people dancing.. Consider the man.. ANDRE "MAC DRE" HICKS R.I.P FAM.

      @macscarface3245 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea exactly bro Thabk u.. And to add to that he pretty much has the best verse in every song.. Not to say everyone else's isn't dope, cuz it is, but damn Dre goin in on a beat.!!

    • @macscarface3245
      @macscarface3245 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea well that obviously comes from someone that don't full understand and listen to Dre u Gino has and them are dope because of the lyrics they use but have u considered that's not root of Hip hop.. If u go back to cats like Bootsy, and even go further to like let's just say Elvis (rock started with black entertainers) the main point of making a ong was to get people to dance to.. So with that. Being said, Dre does that Bar none.. And still Kills it lyrically and I wouldn't expect u to have listened enough to him to even get things he says completely cuz I been on Dre for about 13 years and 10 of those were straight Dre everyday, I still hear things today I hare the before.. Also got realize so of the shit that Dre and his featured artist came up with are still being used today.. Dre is a Fore Father to this rap game. U may think of it as Ice cube and Nas nd them but to even know enough to consider that Dre did all they did (except movies which was a matter of time for Dre nigga would be everywhere these day, bet on) it) without tryna reach people through the radio media.. Dre did his shit INDY made a name almost bigger than everyone that's ever been anyone..and u say that he's like the water boy on the team cuz his rhymes aren't "lyrical". I say he's the mofun, retired MVP player that took over as coach.. Like I said I can't say that Red or Big L ain't the GOAT cuz I don't listen to them niggas... But when it comes to Dre I know his track record I know what his music does, I know what he was trying to do with his music, all these things considered there's no doubt in my mind my niggas undeniably the GOAT back before he died, and remains the champ till this day .. Get to what the ROOT of MUSIC and I know anyone will agree.!

      Bruh u named Xzibit and sayin Dre ain't to his level.? U probably only listen to a few song from everyone and make decisions.. I been listening to Dre for 13 years every damn song his spits shit that will destroy anyone's VERSE.. Freestyling may be a lil different story but his freestyle game was dope as well so idk bruh.. Maybe Em would come out on top of that but shit man NEVER NEVER under estimate Dre nigga will pull a rabbit from thin air on a migga..

    Love the video and info. Redman is def one of the greatest. I would love to see a video about Bone Thugs-n-Harmony so the people can remember how much they contributed to hip hop. Most rappers rap fast and harmonize nowadays and have been for damn near the past decade. They gave that to hip hop, sold millions and millions of records worldwide, but still don’t get their props whenever the greatest are mentioned. I’m just saying they deserve they props in hip hop.

I am forever indebted to the greats. they got us all through some tough times. shady was the get the fuck out of my face mood. red was the cheeky come here let's fuck vibe. pun was the let me count how long he goes before breathing lol. all great, there is no goat. in the same way there isn't one titan, and so on. love the game, but these new children are in some fuck shit. the only knew cats that are worth a shit are the ones who pay homage to the greats and play off of what they taught them. I've been a Redman fan since I heard him on EPMD's 'Business As Usual' album. He's definitely one of the greatest of his era. Finding the G.O.A.T. is impossible cause there's so many great MC's in the culture's history, but I'm liking this series. I'd like to see one of Rakim, KRS-One, Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane, Ice Cube, Scarface, Too Short, Snoop Dogg, Q-Tip, Drake, The Game, Rick Ross, Kool Moe Dee, LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne... what about Snoop? I think Snoop is underrated as an MC, his cultural impact beyond hip-hop, his catalogue and his friendship with Pac and Biggie, Association with two of the most important labels in rap history Death Row and No Limits, not to mention he got busy with the bars. I'm still learning about Snoop, so I'm sure there's much more! What about it?

    On point as always!!! & I agree, Redman having been so animated his whole career is what allows him to be slept on, much like Busta is as well. But I don't think that bothers them @ all. They know that their peers know, that their as good as good gets in hip-hop & that's all that matters I think. Eminem would have been in that category as well. What sets em apart from a busta Rhymes or a RedMan is that Em give us all long look into his personal life.

    Red did go through lethargic phases like Nas and Wayne... Doc's Da Name 2000 and Malpractice were "scratch your head" moments... I love Redman, but his biggest problem to me is that he never grew or matured with his content... he still raps like a carefree 22 year old to this day. All of the other GOAT contenders actually grew up. Nas makes "grown folks hip hop". Life Is Good is one of the best rap albums of the '10s.
