    Ah... Remember back in '92 when I bought some MK1 Golf seats for a tenner and threw them in my 1303. Them were the days!

      Wow a tenner! That was a bargain even for 1992! LOL Happy Days 😄

    Yeah, I got a 69 Beetle.. I just don't like how flat the seat is and because you slide around in corners. My dad on the other hand just can't fit in the car because he is too big.. a mix of the steering wheel being big and the seats being too high mean his stomach and thighs have no room. So my dad is trying to get me to swap to other seats and not sure what he means by using the original parts so the seat isn't too low... my guess is his idea is similar to your dad's idea.. like it would work, but I would like to be able to sell the original seats to get some of my money back from buying seats.

      You could use the twin sliders off your original seats or look for a cheap pair of seats that are heavily worn. Like in the vid tho? If looking to fit something more modern and can weld it's just easier to build your own. It's possibly to do it in a way that can be ground off later so original seats can be returned if necessary. Hope the vid gave you some ideas. Thanks for watching 😊👍

      What's you plan for the rod? Not decided what to do with mine yet, other than use the super knackered original Lanchester seats lol 😅

    Do you have any ideas for a 1974 kombi ? I’m old and I travel in my kombi all over Australia and I’d like modern seats.

      No idea why this message didn't it make it to my phone!? Sorry. I don't own a Bay and not sure what seats will easily bolt in. I'm sure if you post on Facebook or some VW forum such as The Samba, there will be plenty of people with that knowledge that can help. I believe there are some nice SAAB seats that bolt straight into my T25, so hopefully will be something for you. Good Luck :)

    Porsche Boxster seats are pretty affordable compared to mk1 golf seats!
    Did something similar to a set of knackered old beetle seats to fit.
    What is going on with VW scene tax these days, crazy.

      I've never looked into the fitment of boxter seats. Are they similar to porsche tombstones? Tx 😄

      @djambrosia 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PeoplesCar I started out with tombstones taken from a 944 in a scrap yard.
      Just needed to fettle the bolt positions on the original welded 944 plates to fit the Boxster seats.
      You could even hook up the heaters but having a decent heater I never bothered.

    I'm assuming we are just talking front seats, when saying Mk1 Golf seats fit straight in? Or do the rear seats fit also?

    • @PeoplesCar
      @PeoplesCar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You know I can't remember. So yes I'm just talking front seat. It has been a long time since I fitted golf seats in my old 1303.....over 20 years ago.....and I seem to remember something about the rear seat base will fit in a bug but not the back rest. However its not something I can be sure of or ever did myself so you would need to hunt for that one on forums like vzi etc or ask online. I don't think you would want half a rear seat that probably doesn't fit perfectly anyway so as a rule of thumb would just stick to the fronts. Good luck 🙂👍

    I kept the entire bottoms of the seat rails. It gets the seats up off the floor but for me that was preferrable. th-cam.com/video/IhWbS9dLvek/w-d-xo.html

      Sorry for the late reply. That looks a very similar solution to the first ones we created, It worked fairly well when fitted with Porsche Tombstones on top, tho those seats are getting expensive now, I did it 20 years ago lol.
