I really love this project, Sam. Thanks for sharing it with us. Like you said, there is something about bringing back something that someone completely wrote off as trash is just so satisfying.
Harbor Freight doesn't sell a bad spray gun for the money. The biggest problem I've seen is sometimes you need to lap the needle to the tip. A little valve grinding compound and all is good. For top coats, the 1.7 mm tip is your friend. The larger tips are good for primer application. Keep the spray gun 90 degrees to the surface and don't wave at the truck. Steady motions with the air activated prior to the area you want to spray, then feather the trigger, and feather when you get to the other end. Overlap your coats by 50%, starting at the bottom to melt in the over spray. For the truck paint, if you wet sand the FOD out of the paint (400-600 grit wet dry paper and soapy water), apply a coat of clear with hardener. The paint job will last longer and be shiny.
Exactly what I done to my 01. The bottom and side window rubber pulls right off which you may know. But tape window itself and roll with it. Truck looks awesome, glad o see you went back with green.

turned out nice. easy to wet sand and buff out any imperfections. now that you have leftover paint u need to find another project truck or paint a matching enclosed trailer or offroad camper

Since you're contemplating painting another truck on your own, I will share this with you. When I painted my '79 Bronco OEM dark metallic brown, I did a light tack coat all the way around, then a heavier coat all around, then another and another until finished. Each time around I refilled the gun's pot, making sure to frequently swirl the paint in the pot to keep the metal flakes suspended as I sprayed. This way each coat on the truck was from the same pour of paint in the gun's pot. Metallic tends to settle. If you fill your gun's pot from paint in the can, spray and finish one section of the truck, then pour more paint from the can into the gun's pot and finish another section you may end up with sections that do not match exactly because the concentration of metal flake varied each time you filled the gun's pot. Do wet (soak) the shop floor and anything else you can before you start to spray to keep dust down. And don't be afraid to spray on a rainy day/night, it keeps outside dust down so it doesn't blow into your shop. Just be sure to use a fast catalyst in cold damp weather. I painted mine in my garage using the above tricks on a rainy day and my truck turned out better than many professional paint jobs and with zero dust.

6ft bed swap. Look up how to COLOR MATCH head lights. I've done them myself, you just put them in the oven around 250 degrees for like 10 mins each to listen the glue between the housing and clear lens. Use a heat gun, a few butter knives and a couple small flat head screw drivers to pry between the housings and clear lens to open them up. It would be absolutely worth it for a 2nd gen Because of the paint you used and not many 2nd gens have custom headlights plus you can also do custom lighting. Look at my videos I had color matched head lights in my two single cab S10 4x4 ZR2's and it looks great.

Please put a color matched sport grille and bumper on it with smoked headlights. Spyder auto has some pretty nice looking headlights but I'm not sure of the quality of them.
Dig it bud...5 coats, should be easy to do a quick wet sand without worrying about going thru the clear since it’s a single shot paint/clear combo. Lookin sweet man! Soon enough you’ll be at 100k subs

Looks good, you can use a black spray paint on top of the primer. For wet sanding and showing you the small imperfections and dents.

Nothing better than bringing an old truck back from the dead. Obviously she wasn’t completely gone... just nice to see it salvaged.

head lights go oem sport buckets with relay harness , they just are great lights and look right , screw all that aftermarket junk

I was always taught to use longer strokes while painting.

On the positive side, if there is ever an issue withe primer just say you made it original
