You’ll get weekly AI use cases and workflows of different ideas, tips, and strategies for incorporating AI into your online business so you can increase profit while working less.
➡️ In this video, I’m sharing with you a new little known AI tool by Google that is completely changing how I write unique content for my online business.
The tool is called NotebookLM and it’ll make organizing the creation of unique content for your business so much faster and easier.
Why this video?
Because when it comes to creating content for your business, most people are using AI wrong.
A lot of you, and I'm personally guilty of this as well, use large language models basically like a content farm.
We just get tools like ChatGPT to write a bunch of stuff. And it doesn't sound like us. It doesn't feel like a human being wrote it.
There's no unique personality to it, which is why so much content gets drowned out in the vast sea of content.
To make your content stand out, it has to sound like you.
It has to have a unique thought process behind it. Your unique POV.
SO I think I may have the solution for it, which is Google’s Notebook LM.

Have been using Notebook LM for a couple days and I love it so far!
Thanks so much, Rick! This looks like a great brainstorming/research tool for blog posts. Just subscribed.
Appreciate it! 🙌
I like notebookLM a lot. Before I go full steam on it, I want to give Notion AI a try. The idea is that most of my knowledge and research is already in Notion and their q&a feature is built so you can have conversation with it.
My early tests aren't conclusive, I'm waiting to have access to the q&a feature (I'm on waitlist) to decide.
Thanks for another inspiring video!
Yeah I’ve tested this in Notion and I wasn’t happy with the results.
I'm just getting into notion and purchased thomas frank's second brain and creator's companion tools and courses. Remind me to update in a few weeks how I get on. I'm definitely keen to learn more about research > writing efficiency, accuracy and personality.
Only available in the US at the moment. Looks interesting, I'm looking forward to trying it out.
Do more tips & example cases videos on NOTEBOOK-LM please. Thanks ❤
This is great, thanks for sharing your experience with Notebook LM.
Glad it was helpful!
Amazing! Going to try this out now.
Nice!
Thanks for a nice review. Do you think that it can be used to answer emails from clients?
E.g. upload companies knowledge base, then some email templates than uploald customer's email and ask AI to generate response? .
Or maybe you can sughest some better AI tool for such use case?😊
Appreciate it. And, there are better tools for this kind of workflow. I would check out Cassidy AI. You could also set up an automation with Zapier, Claude’s API (or ChatGPT) and your email tool.
Try Obsidian AI with copilot plugin linked to an Openrouter account with Claude 3 opus beta as default model. You can let the LLM snapshot your entire project or work with as many or as few individual files as you want.
do you have a tutorial on this by chance?
I'll like to know more
It uses Claude 3? Can you change it?
Yeah, you can use any model pretty much. You just add api keys. And for paid models just use openrouter api and set default model there. The obsidian plugin is called copilot and the dev has a video about it on youtube.
@@melchiorao9759 Okay, thanks. I didn’t know if I’d be able to swap out the APIs.
Why is it only available in the US?
There is an AI tool called "AI Writa". Could you please give us your review about it? Like what's the pros and cons of this AI tool.
Next video is about AI writing tools. Will see if this might be able to fit into it. 🙌
Man I need a tool which can write good 10k word stories , but none of the ai does that !
Dude, this is an amazing find - thank's Rick!
Glad you like it Pat!
I am doing affiliate marketing in the AI tool segment. Can you give me some suggestions on good products?
Not available in the UK ?
Sudowrite remains my favorite
Nice find!
I agree! Very impressed with it.
What is the terms of use for this? Is it going to aggregate your private data in the language model?
Nope! That was my first question too and they state that they do not use any info that one uploads to train the AI model.
@@RickMulreadyThanks Rick! This was an excellent presentation! I will be trying it. But this is my concern on all of these new AI Systems also. WHERE is my own extensive personal research data going? In my case, it is the last four years of very hard research effort in my life. I cannot believe the greedy monetized "Corporate Borg System" would be so highly Moral! But, if so, great! THAT is truly a breakthrough for Naked Capitalism! Maybe the Promised Day has now indeed come!!! Next we will End War Forever!
I don't see how better it is than perplexity given you have to research and make notes which is time consuming
How good is it at retreiving information from notes and does it hallucinate? Thanks
Haven’t experienced any hallucinations at all. It’s been great for me pulling ideas from my notes as I keep a lot of notes in my google docs.
I’ve used it for work, pulling (non internal) research into it and have had amazing results
this is cool.. will try
Awesome 🙌
Hey Rick, Amazing Video! I was wondering if I could help you with more Quality Editing in your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail which will help your videos to reach to a wider audience ? Pls let me know what do you think?
Some weirdness. First, the Google Docs you upload are, in fact, uploads, and if you change the content in the source document, it does not appear to update in your notebook. I've been unsuccessful at using the upload from Drivce to upload anything except Google Docs ( no sheets or PDF files ). How about just letting me create one Google Drive folder and loading that folder with all the documents I want to use as opposed to uploading them one by one.
Your vid seems super familiar like I watched it a month ago but by a different more popular youtuber.. “Tiago Forte”..
I looked in your description but don’t see any mention of him. Sorta like Starbucks and Starbunks. Which one are you trying to be?
Thanks for watching Brian. I must have made it because I have a troll. Tiago is great. His video is through the lens of notetaking and Readwise. NotebookLM is far more useful for me for creating content, thus the video. Oh and regardless of how you choose to spell it, Starbucks is crap coffee. Happy Easter!
5 Dollar Espresso>50 dollar espresso same taste. Same caffeine. Different cups.@@RickMulready
@@manusharma8577 Uhhh ok, if you say so! Cheers!
can you upload pdf books? are the answers rephrased or verbatim from the sources?
Yep, you can upload up to 200K words per notebook. The answers should be word for word, with citations included.
ONLY for U.S. - so sounds good but Australia's not on the 'in' yet.
Your perfect timing has me questioning the matrix
haha 🙌. Glad it's helpful!
LOL! Ditto! There is a lot of that going around lately with all the NEW AI Utilities! It is happening to me daily!
its only available in the USA :(
Great video thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching 🙌
Nice find Rick. But limitations?
Thanks. 🙌 So for me, I think the biggest limitation is not yet having the capability to write a full on piece of content from within NotebookLM, based on the notes and outlines you can extract. I understand its coming.
@@RickMulready Depending on the results, it may be a good thing as it forces you to actually write the remaining 10% of the project so it has some authenticity
Doesn't this imply you can upload transcripts and then get back what speakers say?
You can def upload transcripts as long as they are formatted in the way I mention in the video. You can then ask questions to your transcript. 👍
I wonder if I can upload my Dungeons and Dragons pdf rule books and have it pull up rules when I ask?
You totally could. You could also create a custom GPT for something like that too. Also check out this video which is another option to accomplish this How I've Created an Army of AI Agents (so I don't have to work lol)
th-cam.com/video/C-Zpr3b5JMc/w-d-xo.html
Only available in the us for months :(
I’m thinking because it’s part of their Labs. Hopefully that changes soon
vpn
@@shimblypibbins tried. Doesnt work :( but i am open to any suggestions
i was able to access from EU but you need to specify a us-based location when using vpn. you can do that with proton vpn@@DuyguCakir
Whats the difference between this and a custom gpt?
Similar, but I wouldn't want to have to create a GPT every time I have a different project. Of course, you could create one GPT for everything you're doing in terms of content creation. It's also ease of use. Not many people know how to create a GPT.
This looks great but unfortunately it is only available in America at present. Nevertheless it was an interesting video and I am also a very keen user of perplexity.
hey, thanks @stephendanks1790 🙌
After google core update can we write a blog using ai tool
I wouldn’t ever just copy and paste an AI written article. I’d always personalize and add to it wherever it makes sense.
Sounds like it may be useful but still not clear how its better than the LLM's yet, Its a hard to describe tool I see.
I agree that it's kind of hard to describe, hopefully the video helps with that. Biggest difference for me is that you can create your own personal knowledge base of information for each notebook. I'm using it for each TH-cam video and each weekly email newsletter.
Thoughts on NotebookLM vs Google AI Studio?
Funny you ask because I’m thinking about doing a video on the AI Studio. I love it. I think for accessibility and ease of use for most, NotebookLM is what I’d recommend. For more advanced, I’d recommend AI Studio.
@@RickMulready you should. Include that a vpn is needed for Europe. A thing often overlooked this vpn. Also needed for notebookLM, Opus, etc. Mentioning which vpn is truly free would also be useful. I’m not sure yet because I just started doing that for AI studio.
Really hope this new tool is not cancelled in a year 😢
NotebookLM is currently only available at USA.
This is something new. Let me experiment.
Only available in the USA so far!
Yeah, that's def a bummer. Hoping that changes soon.
Nicely presented. Followed your process as well. I'm not terribly impressed with the results of my test. Seems very similar to perplexity and not sure I'm seeing any benefit over perplexity at this current incarnation of the app.
I love Perplexity, too. I use Perplexity for all my research gathering. The difference for me with NotebookLM is the ability to create your own personal knowledge base per notebook/project. It's been super helpful for me in pulling ideas from the content. So, I'll pull all my random research into NLM to work with it there. Appreciate you watching and for the thoughts 🙌
@@RickMulready Now if I can only figure out how to get rid of this flowery text problem with all the LLMs. Even with custom instructions, that "writing style" just doesn't want to die. I don't really need everything to be a journey... ;_)
@@JimsworldSanDiego ha, i totally hear you on that. Do you have a "tone of voice/writing style to use" paragraph that you use in your prompts?
Yes, though the flowery tone still chimes in from time to time@@RickMulready
Perplexity has a "Collection" option that seems to work similarly (notes collection wise).@@RickMulready
*Phlanx's caption generator* serves as a cost-effective solution for businesses looking to maximize their ROI on social media marketing efforts. By eliminating the need for hiring expensive content creators or agencies, companies can achieve comparable results at a fraction of the cost.
not sure if you mentioned this... is Google Workspace a paid product?
It is, lowest price is $6/mo
I actually tried Notebook LLM, and it was far from expectation. It cannot even do basic search operations correctly. This is like RAG.
Interesting, hasn’t been my experience. What kind of searches were/are you trying to do?
Copilot does exactly same thing with ease
Copilot is great
There is an important caveat that one needs to be aware of before even watching the video. NotebookLM is only available in the U.S. I watched the entire video only to discover I can't use it at all.
Yeah, unfortunately that’s a current limitation but you can use a VPN and access it
@@RickMulready yep, I use it from France (Discovered NotebookLM thanks to you)... and it works absolutely fine with a VPN.
Not available in Canada.
It’s def a limitation right now unfortunately. Do you use a VPN?
(for now) only available in the US, VPN doesn't work.
only in the US
I guess if we keep uploading 'our' content to AI we'll continue to give it raw material to regurgitate.
No they don’t learn on the fly. They are trained in advance
The modern ones can learn on the fly too, ur data can be sent to their servers and later used for training the next version of the model
How did I completely overlook this tool? 🤦🏻♂️
Easy to do as it's kinda of a little known secret! Hopefully that changes now.
...and only available to the U.S.
It is just available for US citizens 😱I´m from germany and i can´t use it.
Yeah, unfortunately that's a current limitation.
Is this paid or free?
Currently free which is cool
USA only for now...
is it self contained and running locally? Otherwise, nope.
Yep, as mentioned in the video, the information isn't being used to train the AI model.
It made me very upset that i got super hyped up for this, watched your whole video, only to find out it's Only available in the US... That would have been a very nice disclaimer to have at the start of the video...
I’ll be doing that in future videos for sure, appreciate the feedback. Tried a VPN?
Anyone watching outside of the US, don't bother.
Tried a VPN?
- [00:00] 🧠 Content created with AI often lacks unique personality, leading to it blending in with the vast sea of content online.

- [04:10] 🏗 Notebook LM automates content creation processes like research, idea generation, and script writing, making workflows faster and easier.
- [06:36] 📑 Users can ask questions to their uploaded documents and receive synthesized answers, aiding in content development.
- [08:43] 🛠 Notebook LM can handle up to 20 sources with 200,000 words each, streamlining research and content organization.
- [11:29] 💡 Notebook LM can assist in tasks like transcribing Zoom calls or creating knowledge bases for team onboarding, enhancing productivity.
- [13:47] 🤖 Despite its limitations, Notebook LM shows promise in aiding content creation, with future updates expected to improve functionality.
Notebook LM doesn’t support any actual datasets. You’re not fine tuning anything based on “your style”. You’re simply uploading content to be retrieved using context injection. All that does is allow you to basically google your own notes with some NLP summary. The Ai model is literally unchanged by your data. So how does this help you write in your own style? It doesn’t. Because your style isn’t a concept the LLM is built around without a fine tune.
You haven’t even begun solving your actual objective with this and it all seems like a huge waste of time overthinking what you can do already in Notion or Craft, or any other markdown app these days.
Appreciate you sharing your thoughts. The video isn’t about style, it’s about helping create unique content. For me, I’ve not been impressed so far with Notion’s AI search but I’m hopeful it gets better as it’s still in beta.
Oh well only available in the US.... Bye bye
just use vpn, im using it rn
exactly :(
Nobody cares if your content is "unique" they care if it's valuable. It's only valuable if it's yours.
If it's yours, and thus means it's valuable, does it being yours mean it's unique?
This comment was yours and I didn't find it valuable.
Respectfully, I think you´re using the term "unique" a wrong or misleading way. 99% of all AI writing tools can generate "unique" content but that doesn´t mean it´s content you would like to publish on your money site. There´s a big difference between "unique" and "high quality"; I believe it´s what you´re referring to.
Correct 💯. All AI tools make unique content
Sounds quite good until they cancel the project in two months and you're left hanging.
You can just set custom instructions or use a GPT trained on your own data. This video is pointless.
1. Custom instructions? If 1500 characters total and no RAG/extensive context is sufficient, sure.
2. Custom GPT? If you pay for ChatGPT, sure.
Otherwise… I’d say *your comment* is pretty pointless.
Super limited with custom instructions due to length, and really not even how they're used. And I don't want to have to create a new GPT every time I have a new project. Also, many people don't want to pay the $20/mo for Plus, where NotebookLM is free. Do appreciate you watching!
@@RickMulready
The $20 a month is well worth it to me. I have several custom GPT's setup that work together with a series of Python scripts that I asked ChatGPT 4 to write for me that automates every step of the process in generating images, animating, writing and editing my TH-cam videos.
I'm currently working on another project through ChatGPT 4's custom GPT's as agents called laZytype, a program which takes voice commands to perform actions and tasks on a Windows PC. It also tracks eye movement and uses polynomial regression to translate that to mouse movements on the screen.
ChatGPT is truly a world changing tech.
@@MattFischer123
He said custom instructions not customGPT, sums up you have no idea what you talking about
To each their own. No need to degrade a person who just wants to share his experience.

@@marioriveras Nah, I just procastinate.
This video is a thinly-veiled advertisement for Google's Notebook LM tool, masquerading as an informative tutorial. The presenter spends an excessive amount of time hyping up the tool's capabilities while glossing over its major limitations. He claims it can automate content creation and make workflows faster, but fails to demonstrate any truly groundbreaking features beyond basic note-taking and querying. The real "bullshit" is the presenter's attempt to portray a glorified note-taking app as a revolutionary AI content generator, when in reality it simply regurgitates information from your own uploaded sources without any true creative input or finished content production capabilities (at least not yet). The video is essentially a long-winded sales pitch trying to convince viewers that a fairly basic tool is a game-changer for content creators.
Thanks for watching! But you've completely missed the point of the video. I hope your day gets better!
