Probably the second best concert I ever saw in television behind Van Halen live without a net. This is what made me want to play guitar when I was back in high school. Song for song those first two albums were almost wall-to-wall great tunes to listen to and the playing was spectacular. They never did seem to have the same energy on the subsequent concerts and the albums after this seem to have the same flare in the writing but still a great band.
To me Night Ranger was the band that was like a Journey/Foreigner/Loverboy type band but with twin lead guitarist with super chops and two lead singers😀!!!! Both Jeff and Brad are virtuosos in their own way!!!! Their styles complement each other very well!!!! They are like super heros with their own special mutant powers!!!!😂😂😂😂😂 LOL!!!! Brad Gillis with his mastery of the whammy bar and Jeff Watson with his finger tapping prowess on the guitar finger board!!!!😄😃😋🙂😀😁 I especially liked their "Call And Response" and dual harmony solo at the end of "Eddie's Coming Out Tonight"!!! Jack Blades is an awesome front man!!!!🙂😀😁
I didn't think there was any way possible that Brad Gillis could follow what Jeff did in his solo. Then he does THAT! Never underestimate Brad Gillis. Both solos were equally great.
This was recorded live! It's rare that bands can play this well live. These guys, Scorpions, Cheap Trick, and Loverboy were the best (of this genre) that I've ever seen.
this is truly one of the greatest live performances Ive seen.... NR at the top of their game.on the back of that brilliant first album.... the bands energy is awesome
they remind me of some characters out of a teen movie...Keagy the older guy long out of high school, their keyboard player the same, but selling pot to make ends meet, Brad Gillis the troublemaker, Baldes and Watson the pretty boys competing for chicks and attention
Love this concert since i saw it in MTV Sathurday night Concerts Night Ranger should do booklet albums and include this live show and the one from 1982 tv ahow.
Saw on this tour open for SABBATH at THE FOX , ATLANTA, GA.....my buddy saud NIGHT RANGER blew SABBATH off the stage that night ........and i agree....Sabbath was great but....think NIGHT RANGER was cooking on this night, tour ...
Got to the one hour mark before I realized that I hadn't seen one single shot of the crowd. Blistering set but such a weird decision not to show the crowd.
@@WehrtEuchEndlich There's a couple of shots over Fitz's head, too, towards the end of the show. Still, I was half-convinced that this was an empty arena taping with crowd noise edited in.
Japanese crowds were prohibited from cheering, etc during this particular recording. Therefore it would make sense to not show the audience, especially a new act, an opening act.
The guitarist was sick with ozzy live. He's good here too but this band is a bit too poppy for me, kind of cheesier softer/mushy lyrics and ballads and such. That's quite a transition from Ozzy's stuff. haha
Haha just kidding. Do you mean to get the audio getting played on a CD player, or do you want the whole video get on DVD to play it on a DVD player? The easiest way to play it on a TV would be if the TV has an USB input and you just use an USB stick, this way I could show this concert to my father.
Yep, in Japan. They also had a show recorded at the Palace in Hollywood. Both were played on television networks and cable during late 83, and 84-85. I’ve also heard that they had a first time concert filmed earlier in’83. The Japan and Palace shows were frequently played on MTV, In Concert (abc) and Night Flight. They had great exposure from the get go, but to a wide audience of both adults and teens from those concert airings. The band really did sound this great live. Definitely one of the best ever.
I noticed that. And. Throughout the concert. Yes brad is a good vocalist. But it always seemed like there was more going on than just the three of them on the vocals. It’s possible that they had vocal tips for the backups. But. That was harder to pull off in 1983 especially before in ear monitors and such.
Dude, like about 5 or 6 songs in, the sound and the visual are off by almost a full second, or by at least 1/2 second, makes it almost unwatchable, the first four songs aren't like that, it really is too bad, this is an incredibly badass performance, coulda been one for the ages on dvd really, Night Ranger totally at the top of their game in 1983
@@themanfromcabowabo1559 well...I thought that I would give it a chance to get better. I like Night Ranger. They are all vary talented musicians. More talented than this intro gives them credit for.
@@MrEastern021 ...yeah, I thought and end of tune had been mistakenly spliced into the video... after that, though, it was pretty damn good... Yeah, the songs don't fit me now, but this is a guilty pleasure for me
I respectfully disagree mr E, I thought the intro was a totally cool way to open the show, the whole concert kicks ass, why is that the only thing you're paying attention to ??
I always thought this band was pathetically cheesy back in the day and I never gave them a chance. Watching this now and giving the band a fresh listen with an open mind, I find I still find them pathetically cheesy. Great guitar work from Gillis, yes, but not great enough to overcome these awful cheesy songs.

They need to release this show on CD 💿 and DVD 📀
Two , massive guitar shredders in one band , two singers , that helps you go far
A band where everyone can really sing !!!! Simply amazing 🤠
2nd発表後の初来日。オープニングがまさかのプレイラフ。仰天したのを覚えてる。彼らねライブは何度も行きましたが、毎回素晴らしいショウを披露してくれます。
why would 10 people not like this,,,,wow!!,,,,This is Rock and Roll at it's finest ,,,,the real deal,,,
Tone death. If you don't like this, you don't like music. Simple as that.
saw them 3 times in the 80s...they really DID sound this strong on stage

One of the most underrated bands and drummers, I have always loved NR!

Sing Me Away sounds like Wait by White Lion... formed 1983.
You pretty much summed it up with your dialogue and I firmly most definitely do agree with you all the way their....OSCAR!
Gillis and Watson! When only the best will do!
I was there both night. Audiences were crazy, sang, shouted, crying and so. Awesome night!
It sounds like it was a PERFECT night!👍I'm sure a great memory for you.
Wow! That's awesome!!!!
Yeah I saw them on this tour
Here they opened for Sammy Hagar iand t kicked ass!

I didn't think there was any way possible that Brad Gillis could follow what Jeff did in his solo. Then he does THAT! Never underestimate Brad Gillis. Both solos were equally great.
There was a reason that I liked them in the 80s, way catchy ROCK music and talk about a band in their prime with great voices and GREAT guitarists )
This was recorded live! It's rare that bands can play this well live. These guys, Scorpions, Cheap Trick, and Loverboy were the best (of this genre) that I've ever seen.
I saw their live for the first time, but the twin guitar is wonderful and emotional.
This was great to watch! Thanks for the posting.
I saw them 2 times once opening for Sammy Hagar at the Los Angeles forum and the as a head liner at universal area in California
WHAT A BAND!!!!
Must have been incredibly hard to play drums and sing like Kelly... respect earned!

How good they were as long as Jeff was around. There was something special about the twin guitarists.
I forgot just how good these guys were! Awesome double guitars!

I never understood why the drummer is to the side and not center stage?

Yes I mean an audio cd to play in CD player.

Out of sync, what a pity...
Watson solo was lame. Should never have allowed it. Brad missed key harmonic in "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" solo. Unreal.
OMG...….the intro was ridiculous and lame!
If you didn’t like it that much why did you sit there and watch it? Goddamn man, you’re just a bitch looking for a place to happen aren’t you?
