I bought the Ascent Fusion this year and it's unstoppable with Megalithics on it. Without a doubt the best deal in RC today! I'm a Redcat convert for sure.
And for the record i picked up my first transmitter again 6 months before my 52nd. birthday for the first time in 30 years! And now 4 months after said birthday, i have 17 rc cars 2 drones and a heli...... Your never to old for this shit.

I have just about the same story. I got back into the hobby with a Redcat Ground Pounder. Got it instead of an Axial because it had a metal chassis, 4 wheel steer, it was wider, and a lot cheaper. Everytime I took it out something broke, mind you I wasn’t even running hard. So I bought some upgrades thinking it would help….nope. Good Times
I was Redcat biased until about a year ago, when I picked up the now discontinued MT10e on a sale for under $200. At the time, the center diff kit was out of stock, but Redcat got it back in stock even after the discontinue. Now, a Kaiju EXT and a couple of crawlers later, I’m over the bias, and couldn’t be happier with my purchases. Redcat is for real.
I had a Tyco Rebound as a kid. My first REAL RC was the Gen8. My wife saw it and had to get it to match my real 72' scout. We ended up loving it so much we got a Volcano (brushed) and Tornado (brushless) for both of us. I upgraded the Volcano to a 4s Copperhead system and it decintigrated on the first trigger pull LOL. I've been into them ever since and have loved it! Still have my Gen8 and I'm working on turning it into a "show car" rc to take pictures with my real scout! Also JUST picked up the RDS builders kit (was on sale for 114$) and built it last weekend! I don't think every product of theirs is good *cough* Volcano and Tornado *cough* but they are easily the most overlooked brand imo
Nice video and I like the personal history! Redcat started with using rebranded HSP products.(Actually before that they used to sell cheap Chinese based quads and offroad ATV stuff out of Florida, but a hurricane forced them to move Phoenix 20ish years ago and they were making better money on their new RC venture and dropped the ATV business side). At first they did not do any real R&D as they bought off the shelf designs (there are probably 20 companies world wide that do this Exceed is another US based RC company that buy from HSP) from HSP Racing (your Gen7 and Everest10 aluminum diffs are HSP part# 18009 plastic and 180009 aluminum). HSP is based about 30-40 miles north of Hong Kong. Over time Redcat with their large sales volumes was able to make specific change and upgrade requests from HSP who then incorporate those changes into their supply line. The Gen7 was one of their earliest attempts at some in house design inspired by what a hobby shop (i believe in CA) was doing to turn the Everest10 into a scale-ish crawler. Redcat worked with them to come up with the Gen7 Sport & Pro as available models to sell. The success of the Gen7 funded the Gen8 as their first fully designed in house RC and Redcat company owned exclusive designs separate from anybody else like HSP (to the best of my knowledge). The Gen9, Wendigo, Marksman, Ascent & Fusion & 18, RDX drift, Kaiju, All Lowriders, Danchee & RidgeRunner, Machete, Hualer COE, Vigilante, and Valkyrie are all the efforts of Redcat striving to improve and do in house design work (I may have missed one or two). They still sell the rebranded HSP rigs as entree level options (like the Blackout lineup and a few others). These rigs are good starting point for parents looking for a gift of a first RC for their kids without breaking the bank and have a fair bit of aftermarket and community support (and good margin they are a business). Overall I feel that Redact is really growing in the right direction and offering unique quality rigs that keep the market exciting. No I don't work for them and yes my fleet of nearly 20 rigs has about half of it from other companies like Axial and Gmade (soon to be a used TRX4 too). But, I really like my Redcats especially the crawlers, my Kaiju, and Camo X4Pro ( Yeti type rig but mine has Wendigo rear axle, Various HSP aluminum parts front end, and Ryft aluminum rear trailing arms and links). Finally I have found Redcat's customer service is second to none. Keep up the good work Redcat and 10th Scale Garage!!!
Hi guys. Redcat rc,s look awesome. WHY NO UK MARKET FOR THERE PRODUCTS. If they are so good why have they not branched out world wide ?. Keep the great content coming guys. Love to watch you two.😂😁
I like redcat dont have any but next rc i get is gonna be a redcat vigilante or the machete but ya cant beat the price on them and quality seems just as good as other brands .....
Redcat is great. At least they’re one of the few companies trying to make offerings for everyone and they do listen to the input from their customers. I’m hoping that they haven’t given up on the RDS. It’s a great chassis and I still feel as though there’s more potential in that chassis. Hope that they continue to expand that chassis; would really hate to see it leave the ether because they didn’t sell enough of them.
Sadly my first and only Redcat has been the original Terremoto. I loved it for the 2 days it ran. All 4 cvas bent off plastic skateboard ramps. The motor stopped running the shocks leak like pigs. The dual servos worked well before Traxxas sued them for copyright infringement on the Revo. I was going to replace the messed up parts only to find out the discontinued the truck almost immediately. So now I have a giant 1/8 monster truck taking p space that I can't get parts to fix
I agree with you guys, redcat is super sweet. Also, one other thing that they do that you didn't touch on is rebrand already successful cheaper RC's like the HBX 16889 they call the volcano 16 and the ftx ravine they call the danchee ridgerock (which also happens to be one of the best performing crawlers out there, especially for the price.) I've pissed many of crawler guys off that spent 10x the amount on theirs to get through obstacles they cannot. Giving new users a great experience their first time out is crucial and seems like they knock it out of the park when it comes to that and offering the rebranded RC's. Keep up the great work fellas, another man child here digging what you guys do.
Hey guys , I like your videos! I have been viewing for a long time, I got back into RC again in 2020 and purchased my first redcat gen 8 by the end of the year I had 3 gen 8 s and 2 nitro 1/8 , you guys know how it goes the bug will get you and you start spending but enjoy guys
I only have 3 Redcat models but I'd love to buy more if they'll build stuff i want. The Valkyrie is the best cheap basher out. The Ascent is the best cheap crawler out and the Vigilante is the best large scale basher that isn't an Arrma. I love the COE hauler but have no place to drive a low slung 2wd truck. I'm hoping to eventually find a 4wd chassis that gorgeous body will fit on and make an offroad hauler that'll make the Traxxass one hide it's grill in shame.
I was a redcat dealer for a time, about 14 years ago. Their nitros were OK, but were bought by a ton of newbs. Their epx pro line were a huge bang per buck and had flaws that could be fixed/modded for cheap or even free. Their rs10xt $150 crawler with 4 wheel steering and 4 modes was insanely good...but Their rep wasn't good. But redcat has repeatedly tried models that the big brands wouldn't try...1/8 moa crawler, 1/6 and 1/5 scale brushless, I think they had the first lipo powered 1/16-1/18 scale truck, they released the low rider, a 3 wheeler and a string of crawlers that were all good value for money. They never tried to complete directly with traxxas or anyone else, which was a smart move. They actually have more innovative products than traxxas does. When I was a dealer, many in the hobby dismissed them, hobby shops wouldn't mess with them but I had lots of fun. Also, fun fact for me, when they had a naming contest, I won...I named the mirage. For me, the biggest thing redcat did was the rs10xt crawler...I wanted to try crawling, despite it being about going slow...but an Axial was $300. The rs10xt was $150...4 wheel steering, long runtimes, lots of modding possibilities...that truck got me hooked on rock crawling!
My first build was a REDCAT, they are just the best starter RC trucks and cars on the market. Their electronics and batteries are far more superior than traxxas. I would pick Arrma and then Redcat over traxxas and any other brand, for the price and durability.
I bought my son a Blackout. Me with a Stampede, a buddy with a Slash, and ,y son with his Blackout all went to a local pump track. The blackout was the last truck standing. Maybe it was luck, idk but my buddy and I broke first.
I have the new Valkyrie mt the day they came out. And other than the shocks, in 2 months all I have broke on this truck is a steering link/ turnbuckle and lost a pin in one of the driveshafts so I ordered a few just because that’s what u do on those main parts. And haven’t had any real problems with it. But I do want to put it on 6s soon.
They always got me tempted but it never came to the point I actually bought one. That's also got to do with Redcat resellers being practically non-existent here in the Netherlands. Buying from Amazon or eBay is also not a great idea because of the astronomical shipping rates. But yeah, I always kept them in my sights.
Cool video I got back in with Redcat to it was the caldera/ earthquake/ shredder. lol I should’ve kept it but the kaiju took its place. Now I own the Mechete and the Valkyrie 🎊 🎉 and gonna get a vigilante 🎁👍
