this clip much better, because you show the result while fishing as well, I canceled my fishing trip today so I am going to salt my mullet. Thanks again for nice clip.
Greetings sir, I'm from Indonesia. I want to ask what fish did you use? what is mullet. then for the fish scales, what do we have to lose first before salting. I hope the Chanel will be more successful.
Great simple video mate... I have done this with mullet and prawns. I cut my mullet into bait strip's and take 250gm of mullet add 8 tablespoons of salt and 2 of brown sugar to a plastic bag... shake them good then place in fridge over night... baits go really rubbery, works great on prawns to.
I leave salted squid and mullet in a plastic container. And then I store that container into a cooler in my garage. The container stays relatively cool without any refrigeration. Works fine for me.
As long as it is packed in salt it will last for a couple of months at room temperature if it is kept in the fridge it will last longer but if Frozen it will last indefinitely
I would love to but there are no pippies in our area around here at all, we have 6 1/2 metre tides and they don't seem to grow here but if I can get some I will
This works really well with mullet gut or chicken gut. The onion in mullet are really tough but this will toughen the rest of the gut so it stays on hook much better.

@@FishingwithTrev what I want to ask is.
the fish scales, how do we throw it away first then we give salt, thank you, please explain
I salted it with the scales on and then I took the scales off as I was using it to put on the hook

I find it preserves and toughens the Bait and intensifies the scent
Thanks for taking the time to reply... tight lines!
@@Antechynus your welcome
Looks great and easy, I'll try this for my next fishing trip 👌👌 Greetings from Mexico 👋
Good luck and greetings from Australia
Nice job. Salted bait is so convenient.
Thank you I find it works well
When you put the bait in the salt do you leave the container at room temperature are do you put in a refrigerator to dry out the bait?
I leave the container at room temperature in a cool dry place

Great video. Where did you get the containers that you’re using? Thanks
They are containers for chocolate I got them from the local supermarket they are celebration chocolate containers
Can salted bait like this last by being in salt in a room temperature, or does it has to be in a fridge?
As long as it is packed in salt it will last for a couple of months at room temperature if it is kept in the fridge it will last longer but if Frozen it will last indefinitely
Salting baits right now with rock salt. You think rock salt will work well?
Yes as long as it is NON-iodized salt it will work well - good luck, hope you catch heaps
@@FishingwithTrev thanks. It is ice cream salt
Hi very nice video, can you upload a video preparing salted pippis would greatly appreciate it.
I would love to but there are no pippies in our area around here at all, we have 6 1/2 metre tides and they don't seem to grow here but if I can get some I will
Can use coarse salt?
Yes, as long as it is non iodized salt
@@FishingwithTrev how about swimming pool salt?
@@ammarhasif2748 yes you can

Glad I could help.
Best to catch fresh and cut while alive for bait
live bait is always good

And best salt is sea salt
I use a non iodized sea salt
Those fish you call cod are baby groupers
They are Goldspot Rock cod - Epinephelus coioides
@@FishingwithTrev ok i looked up that species. The bait is doing well has leaked out plenty of water
@@buddahmayne9273 Awesome - you should catch plenty with that.
