    It would be interesting to see all of the packages emptied and weighed, then prepared and reweighed to see how much waste each have. Love the videos!!!!

    I'm curious to know why some guys salt their clams and others like Larry Finch stick to strictly fresh. Does it make any difference???

      Yes it does and makes is tougher so it stays on the hook better

    Don't throw away your used salt just dry it out and keep using it, the more you use it the better it gets specially if you are salt preserving multiple baits as all the flavors and smells from the other baits is added to your new baits.

      Probably best in an oven at low temp. Florida is so humid putting it in the sun is liable to have it draw more moisture from the air.

    Good video on how to salt. I'm wondering though about losing all that moisture and flavor. I agree the clams need to toughen up to better stay on the hook but is it at the sacrifice of smell (and taste)?

  • @Sweetaccord

    I find the elastic bait string holds the bait better than salting bait all else equal. Salting helps and the two make a huge difference. 😊
    You also want to put in a container that has holes in the bottom and let it sit for a week to really drain out and be rubbery.

    • @aquadoc4080
      @aquadoc4080 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad you included the elastic string. To this point, the guts are very valuable as bait too, so salt it too use with the string whether using fresh or salted. It's a really good bait and will get you more value for your clam purchase. Great vid!!

    Thanx for the video... I actually use the whole clam and tie it with elastic clear thread to hold tight to my hook. I found that I get more hits using the belly and the tongue more than just the tongue. Striper loves that belly

      Ironic Wehraboo you can try iodized but I was told that it has a flavor? But I am not a chemist so I can’t actually tell you if it does. Just eliminating potential.
