No.. I’ve been cutting Ethio for 3 years now.. And not one of them cracked on me. There are a few rules to follow, but the end result is extremely rewarding. Use as less water as possible in the carving stage with the diamond burs..or even cut them dry after watching Diverse opals channel Then polish with diamond grit past 2-3 grits highest as possible, and you done(without cerium oxide) Still let em dry in a zip lock bag individually with a small dry cloth in each bag
Ya I just put em all in the same bag, until I went inside. I have 4 stones per bag, each stone being about .5 - 1 carat. Should be ok. The slower the better I think, because these stones seem prone to cracks
@@RoysRocks it's been over a month now. No change whatsoever. Pretty odd. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the stones being so small? I'll try and post the outcome in a little while
Never done welo... Interested!
My wello opal turned into chips using this method. Perhaps I had a hole in the bag?
did they lose colour / base colour
after you cut and polish it though would it crack regardless if it got wet?

Man with that many stones in the bag it'll be the ultra ultra slow method!
I'll be keeping my eye on how this one goes...

@@redeyestones3738 I think you are right, if they are prone to cracking slower is better.
