Yes, if you look for the original video it shows many famous people we lost suddenly and tragically (any person in our life symbolizes a "dance"). He references Dr. Martin Luther King, John Wsyne. Garth Brooks was the reason I went back to country in the 90's. He has so many great hits. You have to listen to "Shamless". Also a favorite is "Friends in low Places", "If tomorrow never comes", there are just to many to list. Gotta listen to some more of him.
Here's some trivia for you - "Shameless" is actually a Billy Joel song that Garth covered. He really stayed true to the original, but managed to bring some of himself to it.

It's not Garth but to say "Garth sounds waaaaay better than this cover" is a bit of exaggeration. Garth is Garth and is great but this bloke has a decent voice too.
"Shameless" is one YOU MUST HEAR! The lyrics, passion, and music combine to form a nearly perfect listening experience. The first three notes of the guitar solo always hit me in the feels, too!
@@natecloe8535 Yes! Definitely not Garth. If you Shazam it, it will tell you it's not Garth. I see someone arguing with you on here that hasn't researched it or read the description where it clearly links to the original song by The Mick Lloyd Connection!🤣🤣
You have to see live Garth. He is a performer. To me the dance was not a “dance” persey, but their entire time together was the dance. The dance of a relationship.
I'm guessing like everyone else is saying, Garth has more cut to his voice. This guy is a good version but not the real. Side Note: Garth grew up listening to ACDC and KISS and put on basically a rock show with both kinds, Country and Western. 😉
Exactly. And, to be honest, this guy enunciates his words better than Garth. With Garth's version, words like "pain'" and "dance" are a little hard to make out the first time listening to it.
@Glenn Kirchens - sorry, that brings a smile to my face. It reminds me of a scene in the Blues Brothers: What kind of music do you do here? Oh we do both kinds, Country AND Western 😉
I was married to the most warm and gentle man for 21 years. He died in '96. This song speaks to to me so strongly. It's been 26 years since his death and I live each of the words of this song every day! I'm glad I didn't 'miss the dance'.
This isn't Garth. To hear him, you usually have to look for live video's. He doesn't have a lot of stuff on youtube that isn't live. Go down the Garth rabbit hole, you'll be there awhile. Then go down his wife's musical journey. Trisha Yearwood. Both amazing. He is the GOAT. 10x diamond award winner ... only one in history of music. You'll never be sorry with those two. Listen to their version of "Shallow", she just kills it.
The “Dance” is about a life time of memories…and when a loved one is gone…as painful as it is to lose them, you wouldn’t trade anything, any of “The Dance” to not have the pain of missing them…this songs makes me think of my husband who has passed away…
This is a Garth Brooks song but, that's "not" him singing. It's a cover artist. Garth is tough to find on TH-cam because he has everything so locked down, and doesn't allow it. 😕 Garth's version is so much better!
You’re exactly right I lost a family member who was 14 with Down syndrome who lost his battle to leukemia in 1994. Garth Brooks with his all-time favorite performer in the world. He’d have a pretend microphone and sing Garth brooks, or Alan Jackson. There’s always that someone in our lives that this phrase is completely true about. For a moment All the world was right But how could I have known That you'd ever say goodbye And now I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end The way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd have had to miss the dance
This song is meaningful in so many contexts... losing or outgrowing any relationship, really, for any reason. A spiritual nostalgia of sorts. Part of the grieving experience.
I can’t hear this song without feeling the loss of brothers on a really bad deployment. I still would not have missed that time that I shared with the guys in the unit and it has been almost twenty years and I still think of them every day.

Yes indeed. He was coming to Green Bay next weekend but everything is canceled. He puts on one hell of a concert, I seen him when he first started out.
This dance is a metaphor for life. Garth said in an interview that this song is more about life and how if we spend our times avoiding the bad things that happen during life then we will also miss the joy of the good. Garth has that 'cry' in his voice as to many classic country singers.
The Dance is my favorite song of all time. It's what got me into country music. Its a song about living your life and not being afraid to take that chance because if you don't you could miss out on something incredible.
Unfortunately that's not him singing. That's a cover! It's hard to find the original videos of Garth Brooks! But the Dance is an awesome song if you can find the original song and video! Garth's voice is a 100% better than on this version!

I love this song and so did my late husband. I think "the dance" is the wonderful life we had for nearly 22 years. If I had known how it would end, would I have changed it? No ... I could have missed the pain of losing him, but I would have missed that wonderful dance of life we had together! The price you pay for deep love is the deep pain when you lose them!

I've played in bands since I was in high school in the 1970's. The only thing I will disagree with you on is that country music actually often has more than three chords. Rock-n-roll has only three chords, but you play them faster! :-) Peace, not meant in anything approaching ill-intent.
@@kendavis8046 no worries. It's just a saying. But since I learned to play guitar (more years ago than I care to think about) I found a true love of playing country music and southern rock. To me it just has soul that you don't find in other genres
Yes, Amber had the right idea, it's just as you listen to it more, you realize "The Dance" was every moment with that partner, until they parted. Great reaction guys...sorry it wasn't Garth. But this is a song you can listen to more than once.
It's not just about the relationship, even though that's the central core of the song it also refers to life in general as "the dance" each of us go through it, we could all miss some of the pain by not trying and not putting ourselves out there for a promotion or at sport for example, yes we'd miss the pain of failing but we'd also miss out on so much more. Just a shame this isn't the original, Garth delivers his songs much better than any cover artist no matter how talented.
The Thunder Rolls is another amazing Garth song, a few years ago All That Remains did a killer rock cover of that song; Oli Herbert's(RIP) leads and solos will absolutely melt your face!

This song goes deeper than a 'dance'. It about the act and time spent with the person...granted, it started with a dance, but is more than that. I liken this song to the loss of my brother, there were many times we fought about nothing, or something major......but I would go back and do the 'dance' if I could. RIP Chuck...I miss you everyday.
As many others have said it's not Garth singing. His music isn't even on Spotify. If you want to hear Garth singing, you have to watch a live performance on youtube.
This is my husband's favorite song. He was in the military for over 30 years and he says that 'yeh, I could have not joined the military and missed all the pain that I have now, but I'd have missed the challenges, the excitements, the ups and downs, the friends that I still have, etc'. So in life, it's not just about losing a partner, it's about the life and choices you've made that matters. If you love the life you have, you wouldn't change anything, regardless of the little hiccups along the way. If you don't like the life you have, then yes, you'll have the pain, but you won't have had that dance.

This song is one I can never forget. I used to have a gal who was my very best friend ever and my very best lover ever. Every moment that I could spend with her was just so wonderful. We actually did meet at a dance. The dance was a slow one and the moment that we put our arms around each other and began to dance, there was a connection that we both felt. Never before or since have I experienced that instantaneous chemistry, electricity, connection. Sometime later, she played this song for me and it became our song. Just as the song says, I could never have known that she would one day say goodbye. The goodbye wasn't because of a breakup, it was because she developed a progressive neurological disorder and to deal with it and minimize its progression, she had to make her life as quiet and peaceful as she possibly could. So she closed her world down to just immediate family. I haven't heard from her for two or three years now, and yet I still think of her nearly every day. It is painful, but I would not have missed that dance and everything that followed it for even a king's ransom.
The “Dance” is life. He could have missed the pain but if he did he would have missed their life together…. “The dance”. Now that my husband is gone (RIP) I understand this song even more than I did before when we used to “dance” to it. I’m glad I didn’t know how it all would end…. Because I wouldn’t have wanted to miss one second of our “dance”. 😪
Garth has a great voice, but his hoppin' songs are the best. "Papa Loved Mama", "Ain't Goin' Down 'til the Sun Comes Up", and "The Thunder Rolls" (which is actually a bit mellow, yet still gets you goin')

As an Australian I can tell you that this is one of the greatest songs ever written and recorded. Superb song by Garth. My wife and I saw him down here a few years ago and his stage show was dynamite! So much energy!
I'm the type of person who listens to songs but don't hear what the lyrics are saying. I was that way with this song, I always liked the song but didn't really get the deep meaning. That is until my wife passed and I listened to this song the day of her wake. Upon really getting what the song was about, I thought that was my marriage. I would never had given up the time we were married, in exchange for the pain i felt that day. It really helped me. But there is more. My wife was a Catholic school teacher and was loved by fellow teachers, staff and students. (People waited an hour in line to get to me by her casket.) This song inspired me on how to council her students. I asked many of her students "If they would trade the pain they felt in exchange for not knowing my wife. Everyone said they will take the pain. My wife was an amazing lady. This song is one of the most powerful songs ever.
The dance that he's referring to is the life with her, the whole experience. On that note, y'all should check out "Life's a Dance", by John Michael Montgomery.
I disagree. I think he would go through the pain again, for that 1 dance they shared ('neath the stars above) for A moment in time with her. But. Either way, it's beautiful.
Yeah, it's a cover. It's very close, so I can understand the mistake, but I would for sure do the real version. It still gets me, and I've heard it more times than I can count. Garth's official music isn't available on TH-cam for whatever reason.
The most heart wrenching version is when he sang it at the nascar awards in 2001 after Dale Earnhardt died, I don’t know how anyone in that room kept from crying their eyes out especially Dale’s family

I got to go to his Texas Stadium concert. The traffic trying to get to the concert was so bad that Garth actually delayed his own concert 90 minutes just to make sure everyone got to see him. I can't think of any other musician that would ever do something like that for their fans.
Garth Brooks' song "The Thunder Rolls" is amazing and shouldn't be missed. I think it is one of his most significant songs. Tony Arata wrote this song and sang it a few times before Garth sang and recorded it. Mr. Arata tells the story of Garth approaching him about recording the song long before he made it in singing. This most certainly is Garth singing. If you would like more country music, I highly recommend Randy Travis "Forever and Ever, Amen" and "It's Just a Matter of Time",

Unfortunately, that’s not Garth Brooks singing; he is very protective of his music and most of the time it’s not available. There a tons of people impersonating him on TH-cam. Garths voice is so much richer and has more emotional range and depth than this. Although this man tries hard; close but no cigar. It is a beautiful and heart wrenching song though.
Yeah I love artists that have a nice net worth but restrict their music because oh my God someone might hear it for free, what are you kidding me? I can't allow that I might lose a million dollars... Meanwhile they're missing out on tons of exposure. Greed kills Sorry not sorry when it comes down to it did you make your music because you enjoyed it and you wanted to share it with the world or did you do it for a paycheck?
When I listen to this song.. I think of how I lost my parents at a young age .. and I would not have wanted to miss knowing them .. and my grandparents took us in .. and I wouldn't have wanted to miss them in my life.. So you take the pain with the good in the dance of life, So sweet and special ... with some pain of missing them.

Friends in Low Places
I love Garth and "Standing Outside the Fire" is by far my favorite. Can't go wrong with any of his music.
"If Tomorrow Never Comes" is another powerful song that will really speak to your hearts as a couple as well as parents! Nobody is better than Garth!
So damn sad!
Well George Strait
Agreed.
A necessary reaction to understand the genre.
I agree 100%. Other Garth Greats are The River, Thunder Rolls, Much too Young(to feel this damn old) and Beaches of Cheyenne. There's a lot more but I don't want to write a novel😂

As others have said, That is not Garth. Garth sounds waaaaay better than this cover.

Great cover!
There’s a reason he’s been Entertainer of the Year a jillion times. “I’ve Got Friends in Low Places” is the flip side of Garth.
Hmm, most would argue Chris Gaines is the flip side of Garth, but sure.
Most would argue that THIS isn't Garth Brooks.
I LOVE that song! Too funny!
It is Garth. His voice is very distinctive.
I agree & You said it 4 Me.
Absolutely
Yes
Yes, the dance was their life together.
Well. I mean, yeah, it's a metaphor
I'm guessing like everyone else is saying, Garth has more cut to his voice. This guy is a good version but not the real.
Side Note: Garth grew up listening to ACDC and KISS and put on basically a rock show with both kinds, Country and Western. 😉
His idol is James Taylor. You should give him a listen.
Exactly. And, to be honest, this guy enunciates his words better than Garth. With Garth's version, words like "pain'" and "dance" are a little hard to make out the first time listening to it.
@Glenn Kirchens - sorry, that brings a smile to my face. It reminds me of a scene in the Blues Brothers:
What kind of music do you do here?
Oh we do both kinds, Country AND Western
😉
I think this might be someone named Ronin Keating? I’m just guessing, but I think maybe this is him.
@@craigs3007 I was wondering if anyone would pick up on that, nice job.
She's In Love With The Boy is one of my all time favorite songs.
I think you're right. Pretty sure this is a cover.
Definitely not Garth.
A pretty good rendition, but definitely a cover. No one tops Garth's original.
Definitely NOT Garth! Will have to look hard and fast. He will have them taken down. He protects his music rights closely! But a great song.!
The “Dance” is about a life time of memories…and when a loved one is gone…as painful as it is to lose them, you wouldn’t trade anything, any of “The Dance” to not have the pain of missing them…this songs makes me think of my husband who has passed away…
Yes, very true. Played at my late husbands memorial.
This actual song is about his divorce. The one about losing a loved one is if tomorrow never comes.
This is a strong reminder of my late wife…
When someone dies you lose the future but not the past.
This is a Garth Brooks song but, that's "not" him singing. It's a cover artist. Garth is tough to find on TH-cam because he has everything so locked down, and doesn't allow it. 😕
Garth's version is so much better!
Exactly.
I thought that didn't quite sound like Garth.
Its an ok cover, but that ain't Garth
Phew glad I wasn’t the only who thought this wasn’t Garth. I thought I was losing it.
@@jasmineharward8555 if you go to the video they listen to, it says the artist is THe Mick Lloyd Connection.
The Dance is a metaphor for life. I believe it reflects on losing a loved one, not just a dance partner.
Right
You’re exactly right I lost a family member who was 14 with Down syndrome who lost his battle to leukemia in 1994. Garth Brooks with his all-time favorite performer in the world. He’d have a pretend microphone and sing Garth brooks, or Alan Jackson. There’s always that someone in our lives that this phrase is completely true about.
For a moment
All the world was right
But how could I have known
That you'd ever say goodbye
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end
The way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance
This song is meaningful in so many contexts... losing or outgrowing any relationship, really, for any reason. A spiritual nostalgia of sorts. Part of the grieving experience.
I can’t hear this song without feeling the loss of brothers on a really bad deployment. I still would not have missed that time that I shared with the guys in the unit and it has been almost twenty years and I still think of them every day.
"Shameless" and "If Tomorrow Never Comes" by Garth are his best in my opinion!❤ My husband gave those songs to me!
Shameless is originally Billy Joel, and is on his album "Stormfront"
I gave them to my wife also.
They'll hit two for one with Shameless, or You May Be Right both were Billy Joel songs that Garth does terrific versions of.

the Thunder Rolls and Friends In Low Places AND Papa loved Mama!

One of my favorites, we sang that song for graduation.
I remember when his song and video for “The Thunder Rolls” came out. You could not turn on a country station for more than 15 minutes without hearing that song. And another great song is “Friends in Low Places.”
He is no talking about a literal dance, he is talking about their life spent together. That is the DANCE!

Thank you!

This song goes deeper than a 'dance'. It about the act and time spent with the person...granted, it started with a dance, but is more than that. Yes add Thunder Rolls! Very profound message.

Everyone said they will take the pain. fucking eh dude
omg. im here FKN LOSING IT!!!
i said "what in the absolute fraudulent fk?!" i mean WHOEVER IS SINGING us alright, but unless its actual
Garth, you're playing yourself!
sad, really. i PRAY 🙏🏼 , baby jesus, they went and listened to the REAL ish! ugh! my heart cant take it!!
so....imma head out! ✌🏼
You have to hear Garth sing his song, it is at a whole different level.
Absolutely. I feel bad that this is their first impression. Now I have to go listen to Real Garth lol.
Still recommending the Four Seasons with their five number one hits, over a dozen top ten songs and thirty plus top twenty-fives there is literally a sea of records for you to pick from. Rag Doll, Opus 17, Dawn and December 1963 are personal favorites.

This song is metaphoric, the dance refers to his life, and the loss isnt a break up is the death of a loved one. Its extremely sad, and relatable if youʼve lost a partner.
I think the song can mean different things to different people. For me, it was the death of my fiancee that makes it so relatable.
This one is for Amber, please give it a listen: Big & Rich - Save A Horse
They listened to it I think... But the official video is a MUST!
I was watching reactions to this song just earlier today. Also I hope they do Rollin' so that they can hear Cowboy Troy.
Or "8th of November" or "Holy Water" love some Big & Rich
You can pass on big n rich they suck. Imo that's the start of the downfall of country music
@@leecogbill5881 that's probably what they said about Hank Williams senior.. shame on you. The style of country may not be for you.. but they are country to their core.
Garth is amazing and his live performances are unbeatable. He is the only artist where the live is better to me.
That's because if it's not live, it's usually actually a cover.

I got to go to his Texas Stadium concert. The traffic trying to get to the concert was so bad that Garth actually delayed his own concert 90 minutes just to make sure everyone got to see him. I can't think of any other musician that would ever do something like that for their fans.
Well this singer wasn't Garth, it was a cover unfortunately.
If you would like more country music, I highly recommend Randy Travis "Forever and Ever, Amen" and "It's Just a Matter of Time",
That is 1000% Not Garth Brooks!!! I have been a MAJOR since I was 9 years old. I've seen him live 7 times. Not him!!!!!
My brother and his family lived in Oklahoma owned a restaurant and my brother worked as a prison gaurd, and became sheriff of his little town. He came home to California because he had colon cancer, they left everything to bring him home for his last 2 years. He was an inspiration and led me from country parents into rock n roll. I love both! He taught me football rules and was a big Charger fan. He love OU football team also. I miss him very much
Einstein taught us that matter and energy are the same. You and your brother , just like me and my late brother, will always be connected through the energy we shared and will share into eternity. I pray that when you close your eyes and think of him, you feel that connection.
@@francisseidel8014 thank you do much for your uplifting words
This song is played at funerals sometimes. It is heartbreaking and so beautiful at the same time!
This isn’t about a breakup. It’s about when your love dies. Applies perfectly to when I lost my wife to cancer.
Sending up prayers for you
It’s not just about that either. It’s s general theme about living life and taking chances or you miss out.
"Fever", "Standing Outside the Fire" "Cowboys and Angels" "That Ol' Wind" "That Summer" "The Old Stuff" "Callin' Baton Rouge" "Friends in Low Places" and "Ireland". These are my favorite songs by Garth Brooks.
No, absolutely not with Fever. I love Garth Brooks and every other song you listed is great, but his attempt to cover Aerosmith with that song is one of the cringiest and most horrible things I've ever heard come out of the man.
Don't forget: We Shall Be Free...and .. The Red Strokes..
The song We Shall Be Free is comically underrated given what has happened between its release and 20+ years later.
1 my fave.
Somewhere Other Than The Night, Calling Baton Rouge, The Red Strokes, Papa Loved Mama, Friends In Low Places, The Thunder Rolls, That Summer, Shameless, If Tomorrow Never Comes, Standing Outside The Fire, Much Too Young To Feel This Damn Old, ..................... and many more.......This guy has so many bangers
Sadly not Garth Brooks singing--though this guy is good. Just not as good as Garth. I think it's hard to find his stuff on You Tube because he's all about copyrights and such.

Hey Rob and amber lovely happy mother's day 💜
He has got so many..."Thunder Rolls" is very intense and it is really well done...but you have to watch the official video...his live concerts too omgoodness.
That's not Garth
@@williamwest6870 I think it's Dolly. LOL
Yeah I love artists that have a nice net worth but restrict their music because oh my God someone might hear it for free, what are you kidding me? I can't allow that I might lose a million dollars... Meanwhile they're missing out on tons of exposure. Greed kills
Sorry not sorry when it comes down to it did you make your music because you enjoyed it and you wanted to share it with the world or did you do it for a paycheck?
Sounds like the Original to me.
I’ve heard the original song a thousand times … this isn’t it.
Unanswered prayers, and if tomorrow never comes are also just incredible songs. I got to see him in concert. I’ve been to hundreds of concerts. And garth is in my top five. Along with prince( who I got to see in Norfolk va in a small venue) called the norva. Pink Floyd in London. Ray Charles. And Trisha yearwood. Before then I was to young to really go to shows. My wish list would be queen. Michael Jackson and I really want to see pink. But Garth is so good live. He put on a really good show.
I've loved Garth since he began his career. His music literally changed my life. I hope you explore more of his music. Sadly, this isn't Garth and the official video to this song is amazing.

You HAVE to play Blake Shelton’s AUSTIN!
I prefer Miranda Lambert's Tin Man
Oh, children...love each other..don't let go..hug and kiss...you'll NEVER get this time back.
If you want to try Okie country stars, Vince Gill’s song “Go rest high on that mountain”, he wrote for his brother. Beautiful song.
Jeremy keeling yes
Tearjerker for SURE!
I love the harmonies on that.
Yes but watch the version at george Jones funeral it will tear your heart out I'm 27 and have heard it multiple times and I still sob when I watch it 🤣🤣🤣
@@mattb-zo7ws Oh I forgot about that one! It is so good.
As you already know that's not Garth singing, but still beautiful. Seen him live and it was one of the best concerts that I've ever been to. Unanswered Prayers and Burning Both Ends Of The Night are a couple of other great songs of his. Great song pick and reaction!! 🙂
It sure sounds like him... He has all the nuances and note changes. So, if someone covered this, it's a copy more than a cover.
It is Garth singing no one can pick up the traits to his voice.
That is not Garth singing . Not even close to his voice
@@diannegrimm9973 Definitely not. His stuff is only on Amazon music and you HAVE to have an account with them to access it.
And this voice is good, but it doesn't have the depth or the personality in the top end.
It absolutely is Garth.. I have the cd
As others have said, this isn't Garths version. You should seek it out.
Beautiful song. I was never a fan of country growing up. But over time I like it more and more. This song is so amazingly beautiful and really encompasses life and the journey we take. We have highs and lows. But we HAVE to remember the highs outweigh the lows.
