Keep in mind this was a live performance decades b4 autotune. He sang it again during a Voice audition, improvised, when he realized that a contestant happened to be the son of the guy who wrote this song just for him in 1967. He just stood up & belted it out, his voice practically unchanged at 80. He’s a freak of nature.

He's still a judge on Britain's The Voice, and the rest of the cast goad him into singing, even now, and he always knocks it out of the park. In fact, here's a clip (th-cam.com/video/ySopatr6AoE/w-d-xo.html ) where he meets the auditioning, Peter Donegan, son of Lonnie Donegan, the man who wrote this very song for him. The experience is AMAZING and well worth the watch !!!

Tom Jones still lives and still sings! Look it up on TH-cam where Tom sings as a coach on The Voice in England. He is still such a great singer that he made fellow coach Jennifer Hudson fall under his spell. She gazed at Tom with puppy dog eyes as she recorded his performance on her smart phone. She later confessed to Kelly Clarkson that she adored Tom. Kelly tried to argue, "But he's old!" Jennifer said she didn't care. Good for Jennifer. She has good taste.

No one personifies this song like Tom Jones does, all the hurt and anguish that he is trying to convey, you feel it and at the same time you see what he is going through after being cheated on by his girlfriend and he still tries to maintain his composure. This is how real soul singing is expressed. Kudos Mr. Jones you nailed it spot on.

  • @sierra60

Tom has a gift from God. His voice is magical, tremendous range and still sings like this today. He was the most famous singer in the world along with his fellow Welsh star Shirley Bassey. He was quite poorly as a child and had to stay in bed for months. He listened to alot of soul music and r+b so honed his skills from an early age. I knew of Tom as a child because my mother was obsessed with him. Today, 60 years later, I still love Tom and my big brother loves Shirley due to my late father being a massive fan of hers. Tom toured all around America and had a residency slot in Las Vegas too. As far as I am concerned he is the No.1 best male vocalist. I know everyone has their own favourite and that is great because let's face it, if we all liked the same things, life would be boring😊

I have not heard a voice of a man that is as good as Tom Jones': strong, manly, sexy, husky, hoarse, gritty, low growls to highest pitches in sustained manner, romantic, infectious, you name it. His rarity can be summed up as such: It is difficult to say he is one in a million. His voice is timeless, proven again and again. And nobody like Tom Jones still keeps his voice strong until 70s, 80s.
