I can see investing is one of those for property management especially around apartment complexes it can do most of the work larger trucks can and get into challenging areas that your normal f250 can't get into. I may or may not be adding this to my Christmas list...
Those are 5 steps above the army surplus Willie's Jeep that were available after WW2. I can see why UTV manufacturers are fighting against these in trying to prevent their importation.
Enjoy your reviews. Helped me with my tractor & implements purchases. That straight edge Fisher plow is definitely a substandard build. Thin cutting blade & lack of additional rib bracing make plow light weight but fragile. I installed one on my Gladiator and used it 2 times. First plow was 1" fluffy powder and bent one corner of cutting edge. 2nd storm was 3-4 inches of wet New England snow and bent other corner of cutting edge and also bent the plow. Uninstalled plow and purchased another. Fisher plow has spent 2 yrs in my yard because I cannot in good faith sell it because its so flimsy. I hope you have better luck but really am waiting for an end of season review to see how yours lasted.
We use Magic treated salt. Google your area. Available in pallets with bags and usually a supply yard will carry bulk. For that smaller spreader I would suggest bags. You can store in the shop and slice bags and fill the hopper in doors
You almost fit in there! Hey, who needs cup holders, anyways! They have lots of these minidumps here in Panama. They can maintain a decent 30 mph (empty) going up hills. About 15 mph loaded. So just budget a bit of extra time.
I'd need the salt hopper to be at least twice that size, but the manual transmission unit with the high low awd and the Vplow would definitely be an asset.
I'm sold on the concept. I am not sold on the price. The rest of you need to buy them all up and in 6 to 10 years they will be on the used market in the price range i would go for. So go ahead and get to buying them all up so there will be a complete parts pipeline when I get my used one.
25 y/o ones have been getting imported for decades. I don't know where you live, but in central VA a Craigslist or Marketplace for "Japanese mini truck" or Hijet or Acty will bring up multiple options under $10k. And they aren't governed like the new ones if that matters to you.
@Noah_E Yes, exactly. That is proof of concept of what I'm saying. However, there is another thing to keep in mind. By their very nature, those are Grey Market orphans here. Where would one go for parts support? Would the parts for the new ones be usable on older Grey Market orphans? Or will the new generation of imports be as orphaned as the old ones? I'll let others have the fun of finding that out and wait. I have gotten to the point of buying my flat screen TVs from the pawn shop, I've had good luck with them, and they cost less than most pay for the warranty on theirs ...
@@rodgerneeb301 they are really simple to the point that most didn't use EFI until the 2000s. Japan makes about a half million Kei trucks a year so parts are plentiful. There isn't much to break and maintenance/wear items are readily available online. Especially if you use wider rims so you can use tires available here instead of the narrow ones they use in Japan.
The main problem with these vehicles is that they are very light and are limited to the amount of snow that they can push. They also have very thin paint which is okay in most places in Japan but if you’re county or city uses salt on the roads they will rust away very quickly. They have a 660 cc engine and they are very low on power, one of the benefits is that they are a 4x4 and are fun to drive. Mine is a 2002 and is in new condition but a friend bought one and used it to clean snow and after 3 years there wasn’t a lot left, the paint might be better now. I do enjoy it but a serious work truck it is not. No offence to you good sir but this is just my opinion of an older version of the same vehicle…. They have very thin body panels.
Brine or sand are the least corrosive options I think...some brines attack aluminum I've heard though... I'd go with just sand and use your sweepall in the spring, the dark color will help melt
I’m jealous,, but not overly jealous,, definitely nice machines you have, I have a Suzuki carry, Myers 6’5” all angle blade and a sander on the back,, best money I ever spent, these little trucks will out work any side by side any day of the week…
Cool little truck. Most certainly has a place and purpose. I don't know if I can mention brand names but here it is. Peladow ice melt is what I have had an opportunity to work with. The organization I worked with bought the stuff by the pallet. Many pallets. We used a salt sand mix as well in our larger spreaders. The smaller trucks spread the sand mix by hand after clearing major snowfall. While still snow flying, Even a small build up after spreading a sand mix would leaves piles of a slushy mush inches deep and more often than not quickly freeze and turn to ice, causing hazardous walking conditions for weeks later and in some cases the rest of the winter. As you may be able to tell, I was with a very large Transportation agency. When I had a crew or working at my specific assigned location, I would instruct the use of Peladow, (on the sneak), it is concrete friendly, much easier to distribute and at far less quantities. After clearing a location and moving to one of many a crew would have, continued snowfall would still accumulate but at a slower rate and usually would remain in a moveable state for mop up operations sometimes a few day after a snow event. After mop up, sprinkle some sparingly and after the sun hit it, it would be down to shinning bare pavement or sidewalk. Expensive but larger volumes are sold a substantial savings and between quantities used and labor it could be a wash. Definitely easier on the equipment than salt. Can be had in 50lb bags. Usually I would rescue a bag or two to take home for my hilly driveway and one bag would last me for the season at home. On sheet ice, sprinkle some very sparingly and it would put hole in the ice and start running underneath, As soon as the sun hit it, boom, gone. Try some. Once you know how to use it, you will swear by the stuff as I do. No, I don't work for that company or stand to gain in any way by writing this, just sharing what I have learned by using it. GL with your next blizzard. By the way, I am in the NE, and we get snow, lots of it.
I use what is called solar salt it doesn't corrode my concrete drive at all! I've been using it for years. I get it from my Thiesen Farm Store here in Eastern Iowa.
I would use a salt/sand mix. That way it melts ice and you gain traction. Its probably 80 percent sand and you can usually have it delivered by the dump truck load.
Indusco supply does sell salt by the pallets and they have a variety of solutions. They are a janitorial company so they sell the stuff to facilities by the pallets if that's what you're looking for as i personally have bought from them many times. If you want it delivered by the truck load I've seen a few companies advertising on marketplace that might be able to better assist you I'd look into that.
I like the durability, comfort, and quietness vs a SXS, but would go with a 25+ y/o one that isn't governed. I've had our Ranger XP900 over 60 mph countless times traveling between our pond and cabin/garage. If I wanted to take thrice as long I'd take a tractor.
I’d be curious if the manual or the auto trans has a higher top speed, or acceleration. Maybe a gear for gear shootout? Top speed in each gear? And a drag race?
this year im going from my john deere 300 garden tractor and big block 3/4 ton chevy with 12 ft plow that just drinks fuel and has alot of electrical issues and running a ford 9n that im overhauling so im not constantly working on stuff every 3 passes
Talked my wife into letting me get my first plow many years back now. Got a nice used truck to put it on and everything. Kept a lot of peoples driveway clear of any snow for several years. We only got enough snow to plow one day over that time and I was sick. Traded it to get a newer truck without a plow when we moved and I was going to be driving a lot more. Used car lot was plowing his lot like 2-3 weeks later. So if you do not want snow and you live near me just get me a plow and everybody around should be good
For twenty five thousand I could buy a nice plow truck that would haul more, plow more, hold up better, and be street legal... I remember a short time ago these were six or eight thousand. Crazy...
hey man you should look into corrosion protection like fluid film or other brands and do a video about protecting your machine from rust and salt in the winter. i am a heavy equipment mechanic and there are companys and kits sold that coat your tractor to prevent rust and its waterproof unless you have a hot pressure washer
You can register them in most states. Whether you need to or not depends on if you are using them on public roads (yes) or exclusively on private property (no). These are Japanese domestic market trucks ( _kei taro_ )... what surprised me is that these are new vehicles, I thought they had to be at least 25 years old to warrant importation into the USA. Perhaps the laws have been changed; can someone enlighten me/us? edited for formatting
Plowing snow with a standard transmission is NOT the way to go for sure. However, a dump with automatic kicks the crap out of any sxs on the market. $10k-$15k cheaper than Polaris or Deere and is road legal. Sxs in my state cannot be plated. This is a million times better, more useful, quieter, comfortable year round…this is a winner. Hands down, no competition with any sxs, they’re not even close.
These are awesome little trucks. I wish someone was actually selling them. All I can find on the Internet is people talking about them. Even the websites that say they sell them don’t have any for sale. The only ones available are from the mid 90s. Does anybody actually know where there is a dealer that sells them?
Polaris 🔥 😅😅 that might be good for snow removal and salt. But my Kawasaki Teryx 4 with a KFI pro poly is mean as they come and like a Billy Goat off road. I like it's toyota type though.
$25k as of 2023. Expensive yes, but heat and AC, great for hauling fire wood back to the farm after splitting it on site. Out of my price range, but maybe a used one.
Now, can you have this kind of plow on the automatic? And the sand I seen one of these 1 time with a sno blower on it. That really blew my mind. What does something like this set up cost? Is a automatic truck with the v plow in the sander. Please comment back and let me know. Thank you very much for this video. It must be rough though stopping at a dunkin donuts or a mcdonald's drive through
When did these little rigs start pushing the front differential forward? Did they ever offer a left side steering option? I'd be interested in a mini rig if I could have those two options.
I’ve never seen a left hand drive one. Unless you have a really specific use case for LHD, the biggest downside to RHD is accidentally trying to get into the left side when you are wanting to drive. It’s a good laugh at best, and only very mildly irritating at worst.
Have they done tests to see if the vehicle goes up and down the hills of Blue Ridge mountains? How is the stability during the descent of steep hills or up the hills compared to RTV's? Thank you
Farmer's use these on farms in New Zealand, they're more stable than UTV's on hilly country also better payload and towing capacity. These don't have CVT transmission, they're proper manual or automatic gearboxes.
I have an XJ Jeep that i bought for $2500....built a plow for $100 .....now i have heat and remote control of the plow.....150 hp and larger tires.....I entertained the Little Japanese trucks at one point. but the HP was lacking
Kubota is all hydraulic and will accept a PTO snow blower, but the K connector and snowblower is super expensive! My dealer said it would and extra $12,000
was the price 5224? i cannot justify the price of a gator, Polaris, Honda side by side, etc. I can buy a used short bed 4x4 truck for much less and will be street legal everywhere. These are what I would look for.
with tax $35k to $40k about the price of a decked out side by side but with more capability. You have to have the right situation. Maybe rural Wisconsin where the let you street drive or 50 acres. Nice truck for the right situation.
Those trucks are Kei trucks. They are JDM Exclusive road legal vehicles. Due to safety reasons importing Kei Trucks into America is complicated. They have many comforts of a car but at the same time very few safeties because of space concerns. I am oddly intrigued about the Kei vehicle engine. It is legally limited to 660cc's and 64 HP. I actually like the Kei Car idea. A small and economical road legal vehicle.
@@clintadams8451 That is partially true. Kei cars are an interesting part of Japanese history. Kei cars were intended to be an economical car based on government mandates. The Length, width, engine displacement, and KW of the engine was limited by the government. Those limitations also allowed the Kei cars to enjoy tax breaks. There was logic behind the limitation of the vehicle size, at the time many/most of the Japanese roads were small and the Kei car could just fit through them. In addition there are numerous bonuses to owning a Kei car, one being the taxes and registration is cheaper. There was also an economic reason why the Kei car exists, during their initial run, the Japanese economy was in the gutter. The government wanted people to move around (mostly for work) and an affordable car was one of the options available. Now the Kei car is a very cut-throat market in Japan (mostly because the car is a JDM exclusive). Last time I checked, 30% of all Japanese cars were Kei cars.
@@johnsmithfakename8422 Kei car is JDM exclusive, but the manufacturers also make similar models for other asian markets (India, Indonesia, Philippines, etc). And because they don't have kei restrictions, those cars usually have more powerful engines (1.1L 100 HP vs 660cc 64 HP).

These looked really cool until I read the fine print and saw that they have a governor on them that restricts them to a maximum of 20MPH. That is a huge drawback if you planned on using this commercially and needed to travel on the roadway with other motor vehicles.
This truck isn't 25 years old. It was imported and cannot be titled or registered for road use. Kei trucks must be 25 years old before being imported. Also they are not speed restricted. My 97 Honda does freeway speeds and is road legal.
Has to be 25 years old before they can be imported into the US and be titled fir road use. This truck here will never be road legal sadly as it was imported before that 25 year limit. Kei trucks are insanely useful. I have two!
Why Polaris hasn’t gotten smart and build a long bed ranger is beyond me. Something like can-am’s defender pro 4x4 which has a 6’ long bed. I’m in between the defender pro, or one of these mini trucks for use on our farm & tract in WV. These trucks are definitely more utility focused, practical, and will probably be more reliable. No comparison off road though.
Countdown to Courtney doing Anime reviews, a collab with @crinacle reviewing tractor, and tractor attachment waifus, and becoming a complete degenerate in 3... 2... 1... Kei trucks are just a gateway drug to Hentai. We must stop this before he is a complete weeb!!
Forget about melting the ice and focus on complete snow removal. Instead of salt use kitty litter. If you have any spots where salt is a must spread it by hand and in only that area. I understand being a business and liability so if you end up going salt give the kitty litter a try in areas where the public won't be, that way you can judge the results for yourself.
I made a comment that stated it seems like you have a stake in ownership of the minidumps website and some transparency would be nice on that, but it was deleted rather quickly. Maybe that's because I used the URL in the message and it's automated and not your censoring. It would be nice to know if you had some stake in ownership so that bias can be taken into account.
Nope no ownership and I haven't deleted any comments. This is a business channel though. This channel only exists because of my business. It isn't a personal vlog and has never ever been advertised as such. I make money on everything I sell or it doesn't go on this channel. You should fully expect that I will make a profit in some way on mini dumps, tractors, attachments, accessories, etc. I have no plans to fully disclose that for each video I make. You should fully expect me to vet out any company I do business with before showing it to you. I don't want problems for customers because that means problems for me. I don't like problems. Therefore, I'm very selective on what I include.
Wow great stuff. Not looking forward yo snow mysef, but can't wait to see both of those minidumps perform.

Do you need extra weight in the back when using the V Plow?

Id do some test with different media on the spreader , maybe fine gravel sand mix. Super cheap , blend it, store it dry then you can buy as dump loads
It would be fun if you could get up to Gord's place (GP Outdoors, i know he watches you and you watch him) and have a snow plow competition. 🥶❄️🧢
they make tri-tracks for these if you have some real off road snow to deal withb

Where can you buy the mini trucks at where is the dealer located
Can you spread s a ND with it to
Since these are required to have a governor to limit the speed, is 3rd or 4th gear ever even useful?

Howdy, buy from www.minidumps.com. They ship nationwide.
The chemical is called everclear , not sure who sells it, but it is sold in bulk
HAHAHA this comment wins
I see they have a top speed of 20 mph, can this be over ridden to go around 40 mph very easily?
My 1997 Honda Acty kei truck is street legal and does 65 mph on the freeway. :)
Standard is rough to drive if you have big feet small pedals pretty close together
This would require a tank but beet juice was being trialed years ago here in northern Michigan instead of calcium chloride.

Use a tote of rim guard hooked to a fertilizer sprayer. That should work as a deicer.
I like the 6way plow not a big fan of the granulated vehicle rusting agent dispenser. Nicely made but I hate the use of salt in any capacity
that's why I'm trying to find a salt alternative...what do you suggest?
How much
How much are these machines?
When did these little rigs start pushing the front differential forward? Did they ever offer a left side steering option? I'd be interested in a mini rig if I could have those two options.
I’ve never seen a left hand drive one. Unless you have a really specific use case for LHD, the biggest downside to RHD is accidentally trying to get into the left side when you are wanting to drive. It’s a good laugh at best, and only very mildly irritating at worst.
Thanks for the info!@@phild9813
They're made and sold in Japan as urban trucks, so I don't think they make them in LHD. They're called a Kei class vehicle.
@@ThalassTKynn Thanks for the info!
Can u drive them on the road?
Have they done tests to see if the vehicle goes up and down the hills of Blue Ridge mountains? How is the stability during the descent of steep hills or up the hills compared to RTV's? Thank you
Farmer's use these on farms in New Zealand, they're more stable than UTV's on hilly country also better payload and towing capacity. These don't have CVT transmission, they're proper manual or automatic gearboxes.
How bout cranking up that radio so we can hear the stations again!
Middle 80s small compact pickup like Toyo hilux or Ford Ranger may be less expensive and work just as well. Surely parts would be easier to get too.
I have an XJ Jeep that i bought for $2500....built a plow for $100 .....now i have heat and remote control of the plow.....150 hp and larger tires.....I entertained the Little Japanese trucks at one point. but the HP was lacking
How about a front PTO for a front mount snowblower? That would be amazing.
There are front mount atv/sxs snow blowers that have a gas engine to power them built on.
Kubota is all hydraulic and will accept a PTO snow blower, but the K connector and snowblower is super expensive! My dealer said it would and extra $12,000
I was about to ask this very same thing. A snowblower instead of ice melt dispenser or even a blade would be fantastic.
@@chrisjordan7441 which kubota are you talking about? Do they make a mini-truck!? Thanks!
But have you gotten it stuck yet?
haha. not yet! just a matter of more time.
These mini-dumps crush a polaris in the value department.
for realllll!!!
Ide buy one
was the price 5224? i cannot justify the price of a gator, Polaris, Honda side by side, etc. I can buy a used short bed 4x4 truck for much less and will be street legal everywhere. These are what I would look for.
Here ya go
minidumps.com/truck-sales/
Add a 3 on the left side of that 5. I love the idea of these, but I can’t justify it. Could set up my tractor and utv for less then this.
Definitely not 35k stock. More like 25k for one, brand new. Used they can be had for 8k in my area for one in good condition.
with tax $35k to $40k about the price of a decked out side by side but with more capability. You have to have the right situation. Maybe rural Wisconsin where the let you street drive or 50 acres. Nice truck for the right situation.
Those mini dumps will go anywhere a UTV will go.
The engine size and power rating is for the Japanese road registration. Smaller the engine and vehicle. The cheaper it is to register there.
@@clintadams8451
That is partially true.
Can you use the spreader for seeds?

in reddit someone mounted rammy on this pick up
Are they street-legal?
I have two!
Polaris is hard to beat with capability and top speed. 20 mph is slow even for farm use with any substantial acreage
These are street legal in most states and do highway speeds.
@@brianhillis3701 street legal yes with proper decals. Highway speed no. Governed. States right on their website
@@freidrichnietzsche6643 speed also
No touch screen?! Dealbreaker 😂
hilarious!
LOL…….
some places use beet juice on public roads instead of salt.
i doubt its available to you but who knows maybe your next to a beet farm
Plow snow and haul snowmobile...
Kei trucks workhorses of Japan and some other Asian countries.....That's a Diahatsu, they sold cars in the US in the late 80's and 90's.
HOW MUCH? Were to purchase need as a ranch truck. And reviews once you try. Thx
Service network? Can we drive this into Toyota for service? 😂
Honestly you probably could. LOL
Parts of it are from 90s toyota truck.
I think he's turning Japanese, I really think so...
Check it out Polaris four-wheel-drive air conditioning heating and they don’t cost $40,000
These are just work trucks in Japan. This is the most American thing to compare them to UTVs.
Beet juice melts ice.
That's why side by side companies are lobbying to ban these
Now come on!! Parts can be expedited from Japan.
You could have at least said the line. Haha.
We normal people used righthand drive😂
@@GoodWorksTractors Thank you for the thoughtful response. Absolutely you should profit, totally agree. Thanks again, and I do enjoy what you do here.
