This is not made for American roads. There are no crumple zones, airbags, or emissions controls. (Yes, some of these things make them lighter, simpler, and more reliable). This makes them not very safe for American roads with the speeds and distances we often drive. Also the milage is not as good as you would think. High 20s to low 30s. As such its not far off of the ranger and colorado in mileage, payload and bed size. If only the US small trucks were body on frame like these, you could get flat folding side dump beds and possibly use smaller engines in a packages that would be safe for American roads. This like gas cans has been ruined by the EPA. Because of CAFE regulations, they have to offer larger wheelbase vehicles to fit in the gas mileage category. Otherwise Toyota would bring their $10,000 hilux (exactly what was just described above) and sell millions of them. The problem is political, from regulations made in the name of saving the environment. Personally, I'd buy the crap out of one of those hilux, but I'll have to find a used f250 instead. Probably a diesel.
@@reamrkj1125 There is a tiny crumple zone, just like any other trucks except the front engine ones. It is as safe as other k car, actually safer than most because it weights a lot more and passes the same crash test. There is definitely airbags, it's required by Japanese law. And it's stable driving up to 140km/hr. That speed is pretty normal on some of the roads here. Fuel consumption is 18km/hr for me ( around 42MPG ), that is way better than ranger. And it can be hugely improved if more is invested in developing. I don't think it's a perfect car for most, but it is an option. I bought the van version because it cost 7000 dollar brand new, with RWD and mid engine lay out, turn off the TC and it turns.
@largelampard3721 I drove a 92 Suzuki carry for three years, and, overall, I liked it. I'm sure the newer ones have more modern features than the 30 year old worn out one that I drove. It was a great truck, but it's not built for American highways. At least the one I drove. While I'm sure it gets similar saftey ratings to K cars, that doesn't make it safe on American roads. We dont have more than one standard for crsh teasts. The mini cooper is the only small car sold here that gets high saftey ratings. The chasis on mine was extremely stiff. When you went to jack up the front tire, the back tire lifted up too. Modern k cars in America would have similar crash test ratings to the smart cars. As for gas mileage I'm sure yours does what you say it does. I had a small kia in South Korea that got similar gas mileage. The old Suzuki though is where I get those numbers, and as I have checked on what gas mileage people actually get over here with k trucks, it's similar. I still think we should import them. American trucks have gotten too big and too expensive.
Thank you for the review. Also wondered about the 20-year rule. Sadly not a manual transmission. Needs a good coating of a spray-on bed liner. Great for farmers, hunters, and golf courses, an alternative to the UTV, For deer hunting nice to have a heated cab
Hey Jordan! These trucks are brought into the USA for off-road use. Similar to that of a side by side or four wheeler! Some states do allow these newer trucks to be driven on the road. However, every area is different. Hope this helps!
@@usminitrucksales2396 Where would one look to find out if their state allows road use? And what do we need to look for? (I live in MN, but more generally speaking for others as well)
Xe rất đẹp nếu cải tạo thành xe bán tải là rất thích luôn, nhưng ở Việt Nam giá bán rất cao và ít loại xe tốt, chủ yếu xe của Trung Quốc giá vừa phải mà chất lượng rất tệ.
These are off road vehicles! Similar to UTV’s and Four Wheelers! Farm use, private land use, etc! Some communities may allow them to be driven on the roads. However, The federal law states they can not be driven on US roads. Every State, City, and County has different rules and regulations when it comes to mini trucks! Some places allow them, some do not. You’ll have to check with your DMV! Hope this helps.
What are the advantages of these over just using a regular pickup with dump bed are they half the cost? Or are they intended just for driving on sidewalks to access places trucks can’t go?
I'm glad a manual transmission is also available !
It is the ultimate mechanical mule for Sunday handymen.
Want to clean up the air and reduce carbon in the US, make these street legal in all 50 states, instant, honest, low cost results.

Why do you think they are illegal? mate they don't want you to stop consuming oil.
That was the best look through I’ve seen for one of these! Great work!
