    Love that custom work without being over the top, people will look at it and decide it's an ARB winch bar then look at the surround around the winch and realise something else is going on. Neat job, can't wait to see this smoothed off, painted and finished going to look mint on your tidy GQ.

    That bar looks mint , probably the only thing I would change is cut those useless arb "recovery points" off the bottom of the bar... great work with the channel boys keep up the content that we can all relate to with our own builds and weekend projects 🤙🏼

      They are NOT recovery points.
      Arb designed them to go with an adapter for a highlift jacking point.

    Inspired me to modify my ARB bar on my GU
    I prefer to model everything in 3d cad, that way you can make all the mistakes on the computer at zero cost
    Dan does his drafting in his head, a skill that few have
    Great content

    Good work. Fantastic metal fabricating skills. 👍 Sadly, a skill that eludes me. It would make life so much easier for me with my rig, if I had these skills. Just for looks, have you considered fitting flush mounted LED lights next to the blinker cutouts? Looking forward to the finished product.

    There’s no such thing as a “non winch bar”. There’s just bars that haven’t been “adjusted” yet 😂

    Hey Dan and co, would love to see an episode on front recovery points. I've been wanting to fit some for ages but my chassis/bullbar setup isn't quite suited and it feels like a daunting problem to solve. Don't want to fully replace the bar or get an electic winch (I already use a tirfor which suits how I decide to drive on tracks!). Wonder if you have any insights on this topic!

    I recently bought a supposedly factory, Toyota alloy winch bar for my 80 Seties, which also looks like an ARB style, just like what you have bought. Was also looking at beefing it up, changing it up a little & making a cradle for a winch, to replace my alloy Bocar roo bar that my wife bent, tring to push her 80 Series up the driveway. Your video is very timely for me, Dan. I don't have quite the fabrication skills you have, bu5 I'm willing to have a crack. Can you make a slightly more detailed video on how to go about making a winch cradle?
    Also, would you suggest buying the winch first, to make the cradle & bar fit the winch?

  • @jasonhowe1697
    @jasonhowe1697 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    would made it into a nudge bar style extending or cutting off the factory arb mounts going to a 1-3 inch thick mount
    would of been better to use the arb as a template and build another bar building in recovery points

  • @Mic4569
    @Mic4569 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Those eyelets are rated for high lift jack only in stock form, ARB sell a bracket for them.

    • @ashhunter1335
      @ashhunter1335 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Was also gonna say this. They're certainly not recovery points. Mine has what I believe are factory recovery points bolted to the chassis which is how I discovered that those points on the bar are for the high lift jack

    The only thing I personally don't like is the lack of symmetry of the plate over the top of the winch, I would have made it look the same on both sides (its just my OCD lol).
    But I can understand why you did it the way you did. Night and day difference over the old bar, you've done a great job with it

    Oven though the original OEM Nissan bullbar was ugly, I had a soft-spot for it. Maybe because it was period correct for your vehicle, and so totally retro in this day and age. But it sure was ugly. 😁 Great work on the new bullbar. It's good you kept its classy simple lines, and not got carried away and over-designed it. 👍

    Use to work for ARB. Bullbars are made in Thailand not Australia. Basically cheaper labour and steel products. So they are not Australian made. Real Australian made keeps the labour in Australia and not go against union workforces

    A suggestion to you lads and all the others who like their fourbies and want to keep them off the cops RADAR and on the trail: Pay attention to the rules and laws and do your best to stay legal. Airbag laws make a mess of a lot of things and have plenty of misconceptions so a little understanding and homework. Other things are protrusions facing forward, remember kids, you have to keep them safe for the person or persons you potentially hit. State dependant but the top tube probably won't pass, not allowed to go above the top of the bonnet. Silly mods like the stupid antenna mount on the forward side is screaming for a sticker on the windsheild and a tilt-tray ride, good to see you deleted it.

    Damn, too many rules there on a front guard design. That government there is so damn controlling on the most stupid things I’ve discovered watching all manner of videos from Australia. Like the requirements for a truck guard. Here, we just build what we want.
