    *UPDATE*
After removing my exhaust to fix the crack, I took it to my mechanic to ask for a welder he would recommend. He happened to have a perfectly good pipe that just came off another bike that he just GAVE me! I sprayed the hose clamps forbthe heat shields with PB Blaster & got them off within several minutes. I struggled getting it back together so I had to go back & talk with him. He said it takes him literally less than 3 minutes to get the pipe in place. He told me how to "finess" the pipe back in. In was able to do it in about 5 minutes. I got everything tightened up & bike is running great & sounds like it should. No more heat blasting the inside of my right thigh. I NEVER would've attempted a repair such as this without seeing this video. Thanks again SO MUCH!

Awesome video. Thanks for not telling us about the bbq you went to last week or the color of the house you grew up in like most the Bozo's on TH-cam.

Extremely helpful! I've never attempted anything like this before. I've got a really bad crack that needs to be welded.

Excellent instruction, the floorboard trick saved me alot of aggravation. Replacing melted goopy ignition and upgrading cam and lifters while I'm in there. 👍

This is exactly what I needed to see! To the point, no BS! I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. I started doing mine before I watched the video and I will make this comment. I'm not able to just slip the 1/2" socket over the nuts to remove them at the heads. Every video I've seen makes it look so easy. I guess I'll have to try it again.

Perfectly conceived and executed. Essential info here. Just so you know, only one thing did not work for my '92 Electra Glide. My Evolution engine did not have Allen screws holding the exhaust pipes to the heads. There were a pair of threaded studs there instead. Only had to disconnect the rear pipe from the front and they dropped right out. Thank you for posting this.

Thank you so much for this video! You made it very clear what I have to do. I do have cracks that need to be welded. That’s why I’m taking it apart.

Dude! Awesome video. Thank you! I wish I would have watched this before getting a used Y header part. I would have just welded it myself based on your comment. Good stuff!

Exactly... I'll be adding mechanical reverse to my 2003 FLHTCUI EFI Trike (by Califorina Side Cars) CSC. The only Trike they made of the Anniversary Ultra Classic. 14,500.Mi. The Exhaust was my one main concern. I was told that "before I drop the exhaust, make sure you have the crossover clamp as they are a 1 x use item". and like everything else, there on backorder. I have H-D shipping me 1 in 2 weeks. watching your video I didn't see what the part is to be an issue!?!?. That gives me 2 weeks for homework. Pretty much X Exhaust class off my list with I video. Good Job. *****

I wasn't so lucky. My rear cylinder, the bottom nut is almost inaccessible. No socket would fit on it due to the closeness of the header pipe. I was able to get a 6 pt shorty box wrench on it and strained every bit of strength with each pull, getting just a few degrees of turn with it. Now my energy is spent, I will resume tomorrow.

Would have liked to have seen more of that rear LHS exhaust bracket at rear, the one you mentioned about blue locative on- mine is loose up and down movement at the rubber bushing - cannot figure out how to tighten it ☹️ FLHR Road King

Does it matter which way the c ring opening faces on the exhaust ? Nice video, help me alot

Thanks for the video. I had my cam chain tensioners replaced about 16,000 miles ago when I had new cams put in my 06 Road King. I now want to check those tensioners for wear. Do I need to replace the crush gaskets for the pipes?

I have an 03 road king and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to remove the two headers with your Rubiks cube. It’s just no way I can see how to get clearance on the front fence to pull the pipe away. Could anyone or yourself please give me an idea of what I’m doing wrong I’ve been struggling with this for far too long and I cannot figure out other than to separate the front and back header pipes, how to pull it out as one unit and I’m not sure I’ll be able to separate those things because there’s no way to get leverage to twist or anything

Thank you! Question about my 05- looks identical. Im going to follow your instruction to check my tensioners. With this exhaust, is it possible to save steps by only removing the front header?

What size wrench are needed, some forums say standard, some say metric???

Good video, but Murphy's law rears his ugly head at each and every stage of the disassembly! Be prepared to be either lucky or not so lucky! I have never liked the single side two into two or two into one exhaust systems, but I am seriously rethinking that if I need to replace any exhaust parts!
