Need help installing mufflers on your Harley-Davidson touring bike? Let Lemmy learn ya somethin’: rvz.la/1Fkr8Mb #Harley #HarleyDavidson #Motorcycles #Exhaust #Mufflers
This was a great video on a relatively easy and basic task of putting on some aftermarket mufflers. I really enjoyed the humor in this video. When I remove my bags from the side of my bike, I treat them like they are full of nitro. I gently put them down on towels on the floor to make sure I don't knock them off a counter and I put them out of the way so I don't trip on em. When I saw Lemmy throw that touring bag, I sat up in my seat!! That was GREAT!! The same thing with the old stock muffler...great humor! Like someone else said, not too much humor but not too serious either. Great video Lemmy, thanks man!!
Excellent tutorial. Bought a set of. S & S slip ons and it was that easy.....well sorta. It took a bit of elbow grease to remove the stock ones. 5 years of heat and surface rust almost fused them together. Following the circular and pulling motion simultaneously made it simpler. Took me an hour to.remove and replace. Much appreciated thank you!!!!
I noticed you installed black mufflers on chrome exhaust. I'm thinking of doing that and wondered what the staff 's overall opinion was on that look?? Thank you
It's totally personal and subjective. I think all-black and black/chrome are big right now, while all-chrome is less popular than it was about a decade ago. -DrewZilla
I have a 04 ultra classic and got 36 inch fishtails for Christmas no baffles do I have to do anything to the computer thank you and you make great videos
You would definitely want to use a fuel tuner when installing that exhaust, since it will be much more free flowing system. I would suggest the Power Commander: www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dynojet-power-commander-v-for-harley-touring-2002-2006?sku_id=900930 -Zack
Lemmy from Rezvilla drinks the same as Lemmy from Motorhead did.....Jack and Coke. Actually, the bartending world has rename the Jack and Coke "The Lemmy" in tribute to the late rock n roll icon. \m/
Lemmy, Do you need to install a tuner when adding slip ons??? Had a buddy buy a set and the chrome discolored. Seller said it was because he didn't add a tuner. BTW i love all your learning videos!
I'm glad you like the videos! Any newer bike will benefit from a tuner since most come fairly lean from the factory. With a slip-on system, it is generally not 100% required since you are not removing the catalytic converter. However, we still suggest it. -TeamZilla AJ
Hahahahahahaha!! You added way too much cola brew. Dude I'm loving these vids. Great information in a wonderful package. Moar maintenance vids and whiskey please!
+tek2236 If just installing slip-ons, you probably don't need to re-map the fueling. If you also change the air cleaner, then you'd want to re-map. -DrewZilla
I want to install a slip on megaphone exhaust...do I need to re-jet if that's all I'm changing, really need an answer to this please. Thanks guys awesome videos
So I'm thinking about installing a set of Cobra 3 slip ons for my new iron 1200. I was wondering if I had to tune my bike after the installation or if it's as easy as just installing the new mufflers and continuing to ride as usual?
If just installing slip-ons, you don't necessarily need to tune your bike. If you then change to an aftermarket air cleaner after installing slip-ons, though, you'd want to retune. -DrewZilla
No not really. If you just install slip-ons, you do not need to change the fuel mapping. If you install an aftermarket air intake as well as the slip-on, well then you'll also need to pay for a fuel tuner or pay to have the bike tuned. If you can only afford to do one thing right now, then just do slip-ons. You could do an intake and fuel tuner at a later date. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/common-tread/motorcycle-exhaust-101
love yoyr videos man! their the bomb, and i trying to improve my bike and i wanted to know which brand of muffler would unleash the hidden beast on my street 750 without killing my ear drums?
That's a bit subjective, but we have sound clips in the product videos on the following exhausts. Take a listen around the 45 second mark on each video to hear for yourself. The Vance & Hines includes a dB killer, so that one will let you decide how loud you want it. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/vance-hines-competition-series-slip-on-muffler-for-harley-street-2015-2016 *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/speed-merchant-slip-on-muffler-for-harley-street-750500-2015-2016 *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/bassani-performance-slip-on-muffler-for-harley-street-2015-2016
If you have a stock air cleaner, then no, it's not necessary. If you already have an aftermarket air cleaner, then adding a slip-on will change the air-fuel ratio enough to warrant tuning. -DrewZilla
If you have a stock air cleaner, then you don't need to re-map when installing slip-ons. Once you do air cleaner + slip-ons or once you do a full exhaust, then you need to re-map. -DrewZilla
I put them on my new 2016 ultra limited. i wiped them clean and when i started the bike the pipes smoked for a bit, Was this some sort of oil inside the pipes burning off. They seem fine now.
Why does harley keep telling me I need to replace a casket I 've watched you do these as well as others and my bike is brand new. By the way in putting on Vance and Hines exhaust if that makes a difference
I should have said that it can adversely alter the tune. Perhaps I should ask you what you mean by "cutting the muffler." If you remove the stock mufflers and install aftermarket mufflers, you won't alter the tune enough to require any adjustments. If you mean just removing the mufflers and not installing anything in their place, that is not recommended at all. -DrewZilla
You need to unscrew the oxygen sensor from the stock exhaust, but you don't necessarily need to unplug the sensor wire from the bike. If your new exhaust has oxygen sensor bungs, then you'll screw the sensor into the new exhaust. -DrewZilla
I really hate you for making that 1 bolt look so easy to remove!! Great video though. And if I didn't mention it I hate you for making that flange bolt look easy !!
When you said gorilla strength I didn’t realize you were serious. They are 10 times stronger than man and it took me 3 1/2 hours and some penetrating oil to do this so called easy job. Doesn’t make me want to buy from revzilla
+Adi Ware Generally speaking, if you just install slip-on mufflers, you don't need a fuel tuner. If you also install new headers or an air cleaner, then you'll want a fuel tuner. -DrewZilla

This is a really well done video! Not too cheesy, but not overly serious, great job!
This was an awesome video. I just purchased a pair of rinehart slip ons, and was hoping I can install them myself. Thanks for the tutorial!!
Thanks man, your instructional video helped me to expedite the installation process!
I love how you just tossed the bag!!!!

Great tutorial.!!! Could you please tell me ,Do the head pipes on the bike on both sides(diameter) are the same size ?? thank you.Victor
I just installed my aftermarket mufflers on my Road Glide. Should I have used Loctite on the bolts?

When installing slip on's, do I have to remap the bike again ?
+tek2236 If just installing slip-ons, you probably don't need to re-map the fueling. If you also change the air cleaner, then you'd want to re-map. -DrewZilla
Do those clamps wear out ?
It seems mine won't tighten the muffler to the pipe now.
I want to install a slip on megaphone exhaust...do I need to re-jet if that's all I'm changing, really need an answer to this please. Thanks guys awesome videos
You probably won't need to re-jet. If you also changed the air cleaner or decided for a full-system later, then you'd need to re-tune. -DrewZilla
I got a 2018 sport glide and got Rinheart slip on…I think I need a gasket any suggestions besides going to HD to get OEM part?
So I'm thinking about installing a set of Cobra 3 slip ons for my new iron 1200. I was wondering if I had to tune my bike after the installation or if it's as easy as just installing the new mufflers and continuing to ride as usual?

Lemy, do i need to upgrade the air intake after installing new slip on pipes?
No not really. If you just install slip-ons, you do not need to change the fuel mapping. "ah too much" lmfao lemmy is the man
Is it ok to keep the muffler off like you see on custom bobbers?
You'll lose the exhaust backpressure that helps power low-down, so I wouldn't do it. -DrewZilla
+RevZilla is it the same thing if you take your baffles out?
It's not exactly the same, but yes, removing baffles can also reduce backpressure a bit. Removing the entire muffler reduces it even more. -DrewZilla
Hey Lem. I have a tri glide ultra classic just ordered rinehart for it I'm handy with a wrench do you have any tip
Do u need to tune bike after slip on install
If you have a stock air cleaner, then no, it's not necessary. If you already have an aftermarket air cleaner, then adding a slip-on will change the air-fuel ratio enough to warrant tuning. -DrewZilla
I've got some V&H slip-ons to go on my 2018 Softail. Should I use any silicone sealant on the join, or will they seal up fine without it?
They should seal up just fine without it. If you do get a leak, though, then a bit of high temp sealant is ok. -DrewZilla
does it really come of that easy after a few yrs
After a few years, it might be a bit more difficult. -DrewZilla
So, you do or don't need to map when installing slip ons?
If you have a stock air cleaner, then you don't need to re-map when installing slip-ons. Once you do air cleaner + slip-ons or once you do a full exhaust, then you need to re-map. -DrewZilla
I put them on my new 2016 ultra limited. i wiped them clean and when i started the bike the pipes smoked for a bit, Was this some sort of oil inside the pipes burning off. They seem fine now.
Yes, it's residual oil that burns off after you run it the first time. -DrewZilla
Why does harley keep telling me I need to replace a casket I 've watched you do these as well as others and my bike is brand new. By the way in putting on Vance and Hines exhaust if that makes a difference
'and put it somewhere safe' LOL !
what are the draw backs to cutting the muffler besides noise?
You'll also change how the exhaust flows, which can alter the tune of the bike. -DrewZilla
So would that harm the bike’s engine/ throttle control or just make it sound weird because of the altered tune?
I should have said that it can adversely alter the tune. Perhaps I should ask you what you mean by "cutting the muffler." If you remove the stock mufflers and install aftermarket mufflers, you won't alter the tune enough to require any adjustments. Do you need to unplug oxygen sensor?

I really hate you for making that 1 bolt look so easy to remove!! Great video though. And if I didn't mention it I hate you for making that flange bolt look easy !!
Which mufflers were those?
They're the Two Brothers Comp-S Slip-On Mufflers. -DrewZilla

Good stuff Lem! Thanks.
I followed the tips on your video but still unable to get the stock slip on's off. Dont want to wrestle too hard on my header. Any suggestions?
Try penetrating oil and some heat, but be careful not to light anything on fire! -DrewZilla
Thank you for building my confidence
I installed s&s mk45, no leaks or anything. Took it on test run and smelling a burnt smell, is that normal???
Yes, that's normal, as any oil coating the inside of the exhaust will take some time to burn off. -DrewZilla
Ugh. The stock pipes on my 2105 FLHR are stuck on there...seriously stuck. :(
Great how to video👍🏾
Thank you...I feel confident!
Lemmy is funny as hell ..
Definitely entertaining also informative
California legal Street Cannons - with no Air intake mods should be ok.
Great instruction.
If mufflers were only that east to pull out of the head pipe
Great video!

Wait ... so your mad at RevZilla because your bike / bolts are rusted out? Got it
Thank you for the videos 👍🏽
Great stuff. Thank you.
Thanks!
fuel tuner ? yes no?
+Adi Ware Generally speaking, if you just install slip-on mufflers, you don't need a fuel tuner. If you also install new headers or an air cleaner, then you'll want a fuel tuner. -DrewZilla

jack daniels or coca cola... who paid for that little soft-sell routine? . 🤦🏻♂️
