I have a 1998 Harley-Davidson road king classic with magnetti marelli fuel injection. It has 116,000 miles on it and runs beautifully. I've had issues... mostly like cam position sensor, throttle position sensor, crankshaft position sensor. Nothing that I couldn't do myself . It is the last year for the evo motor and just a terrific bike.
Great info! I have the same issue on my 98 flhrci. I've changed every part ya mentioned to no avail.. but I'm checking that crankshaft sensor plug ASAP. Thx for posting the vid🤙🏼😎
I have the same M&M..but...my backfiring at low speeds..found the original owner had braided throttle cables installed..the cable had rubbed the shielding off the coil wire..at low speed it was grounding out the coil...at higher speeds it would separate the cable from the coil wire..not grounding the coil wire...good news I found it with 250 miles from home .I slid a rubber fuel line over the throttle cable..that held until I could get home to patch things better...just goes to show..you never know !
Ive got a twin cam with this EFI. Its working fine so far. I think the biggest problem is its short run on bikes in production. Because of that spares, knowledge and troubleshooting tools are few and far between. if mine goes completely T/U I'll swap it to a Delphi $$$
96 roadking I have did this one morning headed to work...no spark...we tapped the tank with old school petcock yanked the ecm an throttle body...put a CV carb on it ...end of that problem lol....ya got me with the intro...betterhalf was laugh n too
Hey Ken! You can sell the ECM on Ebay for big bucks! Recover some of the conversion $$$ Thanks for your feedback brother. Please subscribe... it will help me out
I have sometime ago...subscribed that is...like ur logical approach...I didn't want to sell something I thought was suspect although it was the crank sensor. Keep up the good work....thx
I believe if you have an active code the CEL will flash the code all the time. If it is has a historical code it will flash after turning ignition on and a short wait and at intervals with long pauses while running. You can find this information with a little research. So don't take my word. Fact check everything on the inbrednet. People make mistakes and typos. Some people just want to cause harm to others. Use reputable sources with proven methods. As a rule of thumb i look at it like this. For every piece of good usable information (video, blog , reply on a forum...etc. there are at least 20 that are wrong and could cause damage or injury and at least 50 that are completely worthless accept for showing what not to do. This one here is a good one. The "spark plug checker upper" is just icing on the cake and good entertainment. Good job sir. I will definitely look at your other videos.
Hey there. I have a problem with the injection on my Road king 01 magneti Marelli. Can You Tell me please about the air bleed screws, how many turns (360°) from bottom , bassicaly when the screws are closed , to open it , i don t have a diagram tester bit maybe i can fix It and i forgot from the First time the factory settings , removed the epoxy from the screws . Thank you !
Hi Jordan... what I would do first is take off the air cleaner cover you can leave the air filter in place and spray either carburetor cleaner or starter spray on the filter where the foam portion is. If the bike starts briefly you know you're not getting any fuel so then it's up to you if you want to troubleshoot your magnetti marelli or if you want to just dump it and put a carburetor conversion on it. Just a few tips in case you want to fix it ... make sure you can hear the fuel pump priming when you turn the key on... if not it might be just your relay that controls the fuel pump or the fuel pump itself. Thanks for your interest and please subscribe it will help me out a lot
good information! I don't own one of this bike but I really like your videos, Are you located in Florida? I have a brother that has a Road star and it has a crack rear fender he needs to fix or replace

A few guys on my Harley forum have done just this. Carbs are very simple & its an easy conversion. Was the ECM both for fuel injection and spark?

Did u ever find a solution?
I fixed mine by throwing it in the trash about 8 years ago and its never ran better
This is the difference between a mechanic and a parts changer. Too many part changers!!
