What really appears to me from all their coaching during Laver Cup is that Nadal is a brilliant tactical analyst, he's very good with statistics and problem finding, and Federer on the other hand, has incredible intuition and feel for the game. Their advices, when combined together, are not incredibly useful to the player but also shows what a complete complement they are of each other!

@@masters.1000 i dont think so... they cannot afford to dislike him... Rafa is just 11 months older than Djoko... and realises very well how strong an opponent he is...plus when Djoko loses to rafa he interacts very warmly at the net... he does not show hate to Rafa at all... his body language when rafa is around is respectful and sometimes even affectionate... see the olympic 2008 SF end... and some of the French open finals where rafa beat him... even the 2013 USO...he definitely does not show hatred...All fans please reassess your rating of Djoko... no doubt he is very competitive...but he has a good side to his nature... i am not a fan of his but one should not be so blind to the good in others... Rafa on the other hand is ultra respectful of Fed only :-) he does not give much of that to Djoko - that is plain to see...:-) btw i am a great fan of Rafa's all the way from seeing him as a little boy in 2005... :-)

This LC was held a week after the USO in 2019, which Rafa won in a really tough 5 sets v. Medvedev. Rafa was still feeling the after effects of that match. He'd been having some problems with his left hand during that season and was feeling it still but he showed up because he keeps his commitments. He played the Raonic match with an "infiltration" but the hand was worse the next day so he didn't play again that week.
