Federer may not hold the record for the number of slams won etc but he is still the GOAT for one simple reason. He played the game on a different level to everyone else. Enjoy your retirement Sir.

Why to bring the number of titles in conversation? For you he is the GOAT, that's it..
Nobody in the world will argue that anybody ever played more visually pleasing game on court but we have to respect the Djokovic's mental strength and Nadal's physical abilities as well.
For me no one is GOAT, they all have their flair and they excelled at that. Got one up on each other, had some crucial moments, sometimes one handled the pressure better at critical stages than the other. Injuries at wrong time, mental baggage on a particular day can change the debate.
Sitting outside and getting into debate is an easy task.

I have been a tennis fan for most of my 62 years. I have seen and greatly admired some legendary players; Laver, Borg, Connors, McEnroe, Becker, Sampras, Nadal & Djokovic. However, IMHO there has never been any human being who picked up a racquet as majestic, graceful, charismatic and as great as Roger Federer. He is, to me, the greatest sportsman who has ever lived. I feel honoured to have lived in the time of Federer.

I never get bored watching Federer highlights from mid 2000's. What a beast he was. People usually describe him as a shotmaker and natural talent and so on. He was also a magical athlete, strong and fast. I have to put Djoko as the best ever considering everything, but I firmly believe that prime Federer was the best version of a tennis player we have ever seen. His A-game back in the days was out of this world.

Doesn’t matter how great your touch, you still have to WORK (2) it takes two great players to make a great point. Roger only has to play these amazing shots because he is playing against great opponents. The standard of tennis at the top is incredibly high.

A minute in and literally zero of those shots were close to "nobody would believe if not filmed"....
Continuing on, and.... hell, I've done most of those when I was a junior tennis player. In fact, if these are so good nobody would believe if not filmed, then you wouldn't believe some of the shots I've made when I was a tennis player...... I was actually expecting some crazier/more impressive shots than these. The shots between the legs, or the spinning forehand early on, yeah, I get those being there, but honestly they're relatively common these days. Trick shots sure, but nothing befitting the title...... I mean, I once hit a shot that hit the tape of the net, rolled almost half of the length of the net across the top of the tape before rolling over the other side and landing in. THAT is the kind of shot nobody would believe if it wasn't filmed. Hell, I DID that and scarcely believe it. Gotta say, a little disappointed that they're just good tennis shots or good tennis in general as opposed to whatever the title made it out to be.
That shot at 4mins, my coach literally taught me that shot, but better, landing much closer to the net. So close in fact I hit it against someone who bragged about his ranking in the state and he stood their stunned in disbelief for 3 seconds, before cheating and calling it out as junior tennis you umpire your own side of the court, at least that's how it was in pretty much all tournaments as a junior here. It's difficult, but hardly a shot nobody would believe, especially not someone who's actually played at a high level.
