    In 1962 63 I had a used up 50 Merc that I would drive back and forth from RI to NJ with my Tin Can brothers. On one occasion, Feb 63, when our ship had just got back from the Caribbean and it was really cold. The Merc had been sitting out and one of the guys said "I hope you've got antifreeze in it". I said "what's antifreeze", and he told me, and why I needed it. I opened the radiator cap and it was a solid block of ice. I fired it up and off we went. That was one solid engine.

    Why any Ford hotrod owner would put a Chevy engine in their car is beyond me, especially when they could have a flathead like this in it.

      Mix and matching different brands can be a hat full of problemS as it is just sorting out one brand. Almost like putting an American engine in a (UGH!) British car. Backward electrics can be a real headache. And now, just think of the computer matches, etc., u get the idea! I got enough just keeping one brand on the road!

      @@Punk-Jw i think it depends on when you born. All the newer fords I've owned and worked on have been lemons from the factory where as the few chevys I have had are more reliable and cheaper to fix. I was ford kid but now I'm a chevy guy.

    The sound is enough to make me a true believer. I would love to see the dyno numbers for this build. I would also like to see that setup be used with different options like how this setup would compare with a different intake or with a set of Ardun heads etc. Could you even imagine a motor like that, back in the 1950's, or 60's stuffed in an old 32 highboy? hell, just for originality, Using an old set of Stromburg 97's ? Just cruising down Sunset blvd on a Friday night, turning heads everywhere you go?

      Wilson & Woods heads are great heads, they are thick to hold more water and well over-all design.is fabulous. I personally have a pair on my 1950 f-1 truck and the temperature barely exceeds 180 temp in city traffic. The owner and designer Ken Klus of San Clemente has passed away in November so said. a very close friend of mine for 49 yrs. He also had a company called Ocean Pro Engineering , Jet Ski high performance parts for kawasaki's. a true engineer.and also left a true legacy behind. he will be greatly be missed.

    I'd be interested to know how the right side of the engine cools compared to the left side. (With the single return hose from the radiator splitting up the way it's set up.) I'm not a fluid dynamics engineer, but I'm guessing that the right half of the engine gets the Lions share of the coolent.

    • @tomcline5631
      @tomcline5631 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All of them I've seen in an actual car,have two upper radiator hoses, running straight into to upper pipes on the rad. I think this just his test stand set up.
      Yeah,bet that's what's up. This has two water pumps on it stock. Anyway the uppers are the return side.
