    Hey Sam, love that truck. I laughed when it started and you had that WTF look on your face. I think you should keep that engine, it runs nice and sounds good. I would get some 1978 replacement seat cover kits and a nice carpet. I was amazed how much paint is missing in the bed and it still isn't rusty. You did very well buying that truck. Well done!

    My dad graduated high school is 1968. I asked him about 10 years ago why everyone had single cab trucks. At that time he had 3 from the 1970’s. He said the single cab in the 70’s and 80’s was the gentleman’s truck. The four door trucks were viewed as a work truck or something a loser would drive. He said no one would own one. Now that’s in Texas so maybe different somewhere else. Crazy to think of the change in culture we’ve made since then. Now single cab trucks are rare.

      Thank you! I almost bought a 86 gmc crew long bed today for 600 but yikes it needed work and back fees to I figured I’d spent my money and time slightly wiser for once hah someone else scored that gem

      @@samsonandrew7652 that would’ve been cool to score but I understand. Question, does your dad’s red Ford have a Dana 60 or 44 up front? The hubs looks pretty big in video like a 60 but it could’ve also just be me.

    Super cool old Ford... I love the Cummins stuff on the other channel as much as everyone else. But Im glad to see you are doing something a little different. Im almost 49 and can remember when big gas dually pickups were king. Here in Ohio, back in the day Farmers and guys that tow never wanted a Diesel truck because of the cold weather issues and poor performance compared to the Chrysler 360, Ford 460, and the GM 454. I even remember 2500 Fords and Dodge with the inline 6.....Until the late 90's diesel trucks were crap. GM had that ole 6.5 NO turbo LOL....Cant wait to see what you do with her!
    edit: Just got to the end and heard you were Cummins swapping it. Thats cool too I guess especially with the 6 speed. I was really hoping for a Hot Rod Gasser tho...

    • @samsonandrew7652
      @samsonandrew7652  ปีที่แล้ว

      We shall see if I follow thru with the Cummins swap on this one. I definitely have been considering other options. Maybe good ripping v8 but until then I look forward to cruising this unit.
      And definitely glad to have a variety compared to back in the day 16 of the same truck hah

    Hey Sam, excellent job on getting the old Ford crew cab going !! I’ve always wanted one of those trucks, was always out of my price range lol. I’ve only seen those Ford crew cab trucks in magazines, TH-cam, Craigslist. Never seen one in person. Have always loved those body styles and the Chevy trucks of that era too. What are those trucks bringing these days anyway? Not what you paid for it, lol. But, what they are bringing without the Ls swap? That truck is a survivor IMO. But, great job working on it and bringing life back into her. Thanks

    That is so cool!! Congrats Sam!! A friend of mine had one just like that in the late 70's. It was a 3 speed w/granny gear manual though. I can't tell if that's a 390 or 351?? I hope it doesn't have the "twin I beam" front end! Those things were hard to drive down the road straight! It was a good reliable unit and we put a lot of miles on it! As usual, it turned into a "Fred Flintstone" truck! Floor pans completely rotted out and left big holes in the floor!! You could pedal along, like Fred. LOL The engine sounded really good!! Maybe a resto and leave the engine? It's almost a shame to yank it with it sounding/running so good?!? Great find!! 8) --gary

    Just an FYI, those HEI conversion distributors are garbage. They will work temporarily, but they will begin to fail shortly and make you want to burn the truck down until you replace it with a stock ford ignition (which is surprisingly very reliable).

    • @samsonandrew7652
      @samsonandrew7652  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh definitely had my concerns swapping it in there. I left all the goods to go back but was coming up short on find a distributor I liked online so I settled for hei. Had all kinds of issues with the one in my charger until I swapped it out for a standard and all new wires lol

    Sam you got a sweet truck there!! Gonna be an awesome build cant wait to see the progress!! What are your thoughts on a build I have cooking in my head currently. I have a 2005 chevy 2500hd crew cab short bed 2wd that came from Texas. She's completely rust free and that's a big deal for me seeing I live in northwest Ohio. It's currently got a 6.0l 4l80e and I believe 4:10 gears with the g80. I have a 2010 blue bird bus with the 6.7l rear gear with a I believe an allison 3k 5 speed that's got around 140k on it. She's got the vgt exhaust break which is amazing! For a school bus I couldn't believe it but i had to no speed governor at least I had it up to 70-75 coming home with the cruise control set. I think you can see where I'm going with this lol. I have a 35ft 5th wheel camper to hang on the back and a 32ft goosneck and a car trailer to swing around with it. My current truck is one I built 2 years ago another 05 2500hd crew long box 4by. She's got a 97 215hp pump 12 valve thats well lets just say no longer 215hp lol and an nv4500 263xhd combo init have put almost 20k on it so far and love it!
