Clinton, you had me laughing after the brief intro to the 4610, telling us you were going out mow, and you cut to dad un-trailering it, and heading out to mow…, the caption I my mind was dad saying “get the hell out of way son, I got to get to mowing”… Hahaha…! Great video, Thank you sir.
Love that swing out battery tray! At 28:15: "Chevrolet never made no tractors." If they had, the swing out battery tray would have been hinged on the inside and not been able to move. You'd have to unbolt the whole thing to get the battery out.
❤ Dinner time entertainment. I can say I like the farm tractor videos because we learn more about what we may own. Rather than just stuff we will never own. In my case, I know of a Ford 2000 tractor I'm gonna need help restoring one day.
You guys are the absolute unsung heros of the Indiana Bureau of Disabilities Services! To give meaningful employment to one of the 1,129,000 mentally diabled in Indiana is outstanding. Even more so to allow him to contribute to your videos and just generally be himself. I know it is against the rules to use a mentally disabled person's real name publically, the pseudo name "Kevin" is an absolute gem. Not the first ford product with a Delco alternator. It’s a good fit for many brands. I think you’re right about the old iron. It’s worth fixing. The routine maintenance is more thought out. Good video guys
Just watched both C&C and A.D.S. Video. I’d say”Good for you Clint to have Phil do the service on that pump! Also, verified to ME, if I have a if I need/have a pump issue. I’m DEFINITELY sending it to A.D.S !!!
Your content is varied, informative, and at times humorous. I keep coming back… I am subscribed and I always hit the like button. I want the monetary side of this to keep you interested in keep making these.
I worked at a State Park and we had an ‘84 Ford 3910. Yours is identical except we had a loader on it. There is also a filter inside the power steering pump. I liked to change those as well when I did a PM on it. Brought back a lot of memories…Thanks!
I'm glad to see you using a one wire alternator. I started using them on our little farm after John Deere quoted me $269 for a rebuilt with 30 day warranty. Amazon has brand new Delco 10si and 12Si alternators for less than $100 with a 24 month unlimited mile warranty per Delco publication WA-3-2018E.
When needing to change old an worn tie rod to a new one “ count the turns of screwing out the old one beginning at the point that the tapered of the ball and sock where you would put a cotter key in “ just think of a clock when beginning to turn the tie rod “ If any questions ask me
Clint, been in the automotive trade as an apprentice then technician since leaving school in 1975, and this is the first time I have seen a half moon spanner, sorry wrench used, yet, I do own a couple my self.
I also think the common owned farm tractors will bring in a larger audience to supplement your heavy equipment followers. These types of tractors are found at most deer camps, small yard farms and were dads/grandpas tractor that are handed down. If you really want some newer viewers take on a 8N /9n/workhorse ford tractor with 8n in the title for the search hits. (Restoring Dads ford 8n tractor) Rear lifts are ALWAYS an issue on those along with a 6v to 12v conversion, rusty fuel tanks ect. The tractors are cheap $500-3000, parts are cheap and LOTS of them sitting around with folks wanting . Just a thought .... I enjoy all your content and i am a subscriber, watch/liked most all your videos ...(looking at the auction... not my thing but seeing what you bought at the auction is a hit for me.)
Brings back memories. I had a couple customers that had 4610 tractors that I serviced. Very reliable tractor. I used to stock a rebuilt CAV pump in my service van mostly for Perkins 1004 engines. Only thing I hated was that bolt next to the engine
I always just hold the alternator fan and pulley with a gloved hand and remove the nut with impact and reinstall the same way. Works every time. Good video!!
The content on these videos, you guys on an off day having fun is great content. The banter back and forth is great. I would have thought that the younger one would have been there to work on grandpas tractor. And as for the tractor, no matter who you are Chevy dodge or anything. Those old ford tractors are as solid as they come.
39:20 years ago when you could go to the Ford tractor dealership, they sold an additive for the coolant that would prevent cavitation and burning holes through the bores in those old parent bore blocks…they also required more frequent coolant replacement than the average tractor but if you maintained them, they would last just as long if not longer than any other tractor engine out there!..love those old Ford tractors!!..
In defense of us "older generation" sometimes, it's finding parts for the old junk I keep running, since not all of us have a lathe to "make it fit." And once again, I spent 11 hours today, rewiring an old farm tractor, and yet, here I sit, waiting for supper, and watching you work on a tractor only a little younger. Guess I can use the old age excuse?
Just an FYI, the other terminal on the side is also an excite wire connection, if you run the starter solenoid wire to that terminal it will field the alternator as the engine starts cranking, no need for higher revolutions to excite the alternator that way, the old "R" terminal's on the older Chevy starter solenoids was for that "regulator" connection on the alternator, just my 2¢, carry on fellas keep up the good work👍
When I used to bleed those diesel injection pumps, I opened the small bleed screw on the pump and usually that was enough without cracking the injectors. I found it interesting that there's only one fuel filter on the 4610. In Australia all the Ford tractors I dealt with had dual filters. That's the 5000 3610 and 4110
My dad owns a Ford lawn tractor. I'm not sure of what model or year it is but it's got a 16 and a half horsepower gas engine and a hydrostatic transmission. We keep it well maintained and it's an absolute joy to run. Dad named it Old Blue. But I call it The Blue Mule.
I'm not saying a word today. There are just too many already. I have, after careful consideration, decided I would let you work on my B3200 if you weren't so far away...... Thanks Guys.
As always great video. You made my day putting that GM alternator on a ford tractor. Course I’m a Chevy guy like Kevin. A tractor repair is a tractor repair no matter the brand or the size. Good Jim Clint.👍👍
Those are good old tractors. I have a 3910, which is one size smaller. I bleed my fuel system the same way. Just a sniff of Cosby sauce and she takes right off.
I love to watch you guys work together, Kevin is a hoot, but both of you guys are excellent diesel mechanics. You make it look easy. I am amazed at what you can do.love it, keep going
I bailed so much hay doing custom bailing with a New Holland 269 square bailer. I would take off with 6.5 gal of diesel and a new two bundle of bail twine strapped to the twine box. I kept the bailer knife sharp and my bailed hay looked perfect. My Ford used a German charging system on it but your right about using a Chev alternator on it replacing the Lucas alternator. I became an expert working on the knotting system on the bailer also. I do enjoy starting my 4600 Ford with the Super Sue diesel motor every month. 46 years old with original paint. One tiny leak at the PTO.
I’m thinkin that’s a sweet ole FORD, runs as good as it looks. Hey Kevin, they are just jealous of your big head, I mean, it takes a lot surface area to display all that handsomeness and intelligence in one area, all at once!!🙄😏😉😂😂. Thanks for the update, enjoyed watching and listening.
People that say you shouldn’t use starting fluid have never owned worn out shit 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣exactly
Older john deere tractors had a place in the dash for a starting can...from the factory
